I guess you don't want to hear about the pet boa I had then:( who I let wrap itself around my neck or arm when we went outside because it would get scared.

It really is a very sad story. Its' food (a baby rat) starting eating the snakes tail ( I didn't catch this soon enough. I didn't let it happen, Oh the guilt:blush:) and the snake disappeared. Can't say as I blame her. Well she should have eaten it like a good girl. Gee it was bad enough that I had to buy them and give them to her, except for the one that got loose in my car eek!! Strange thing though my neighbor had a pet boa also. They both ran away from home at the same time, same day even. Mine was a female and hers was a male.

We are hoping that they got together and are living happily ever after:wub::wub::wub: and making baby boa's.

Hey I could get $300 a piece for those babys. Get back here you sneaky, snaky snakes:ohmy:

Well I am a witch and do not believe in just killing something. I do agree about flies, roaches, mosquitoes and fleas. Those I will kill. With 4 dogs we have flies but keep fly traps all around our yard and they work well. We also have a large bug zapper. Living between two large ponds, we get all the critters, good and bad. Including a small pack of coyotes, several large hawks, vultures, raccoons, skunks, opossums, armadillos, tree rats, and every bug and snake around.

I'm fine with things outside. There is a circle of life and everything does have it's place. Just not inside my house! That's where things bother me. I can watch spiders outside as long as they stay in one place. When we smoked outside we would watch the spiders build their webs on either side of the porch and catch the bugs that were attracked by the porch light. It was facinating. However when they invaded my space on the porch, then I had a fit and hubby had to move them out into the yard away from me.

Story with snakes... when my daughter was around 7 we lived in an apartment that had a small creek that ran behind it. The kids always played in and around the creek. One day my daughter comes running in and wants a bucket so hubby gave her one and off she went with it. A bit later she comes in with the bucket and says "Look what we caught". In the bucket were at least 5 baby water mocassins. Don't know where moma was or how the kids got them, but they did. Hubby put them back, despite my protest, but the kids were banned from playing by the creek after that. I am still thankful that none of the kids got bit.

Oh 5cardstud that is horrible! Though I don't mind snakes, if I was trapped in a pit of them, I'd probably die of panic. There used to be a show called Fear Factor that did stuff like that to people. Hubby and daughter loved it, but it freaked me out too bad to watch it.

WitchWay,

Talking about skunks reminded me of something funny, but not funny at the time. Getting old is so much fun with all these memories! NOT!!

We were a young couple with 2 kids living amongst a lot of people our own age group with kids the same age.

Well there was this skunk that lived there too. He seemed like the neighborhood mascot after awhile. The only problem was is the skunk was an albinio skunk and the kids would call "Here kitty, kitty"

Went through a lot of tomato juice that summer!:blink: Tomato juice does not, I repeat does not work!!!

Wow!! I've never had to deal with skunk spray, thankfully!! They come around and we smell them, but they stay out of the way. I will remember that tomato juices does not work. LOL my daughter just yelled "Hey Myth Busters did an episode on that, we got to find it" Her and hubby love watching Myth Busters together.

Did you ever find anything that does work?

WW,

I hope you didn't misunderstand what I was saying. I didn't mean to imply you kill things just for the heck of it. I know you don't. I will kill all that you mentioned and a couple others like ticks etc. I will also kill a centipede if it is in the house cause I can't catch it to put outside.

Sounds like you have a lot of critters around you.

And  at the water moccasins.

All this talk of snakes and spiders and creepy crawlies :)

The 'filth' bugs bug me the most... like roaches... especially the ones that fly... what was god thinking.

Spiders and snakes are fascinating thou.

A large golden orb took up residence in my family's garage when I was a kid in Louisiana. This is a scary looking black and vivid yellow creature, shiny not fuzzy. It had woven a web that spanned at least 6 feet across one corner of the garage. My brother and I took to feeding it by catching bugs and throwing them into its web from the center of the garage. Its web was so strong and sticky nothing escaped, so we took to throwing larger and larger prey for the spider to deal with. The largest was a big cicada bug. This bug had some powerful wings but it couldn't escape being wrapped up either. Then one day the mosquito sprayer went up and down our street... and not long after the spider was gone.

They were not children when these two events happened. They were in their 20s.

Yikes, some intense sibling warfare going on there!

I remember that show. Most of the stuff they made you do looked like it could be exhilarating, but they also made you eat really nasty things... like live bugs or worms. There's just no way.

I remember when I was young (ahh yes, the memory) I wanted a Boa sooooooooooooo badly until my mother explained what I would have to feed it. That did put an end to that. Then I wanted a black panther and a monkey but she wouldn't allow either one of those. LOL

Hey 5card. Did you have a bad experience with one?

No I used to mess with them when I was really young but they just creep me out. Spiders or anything else can crawl all over me but snakes
I won't let my foot hang over the edge of my bed at night because maybe one got in my room. I had a friend bring one to me and I told him "I'm not responsible for what happens here. Better get that thing away from me".

Oh sky I was just letting you know I agree with you about not killing the ones that do good :)

VM speaking of Cicada bugs, we call them "snacky bugs". For some odd reason our dogs love them! They crawl out of the ground in like a beetle form, the nymph stage and cling to the fences around our back yard. As they are emerging from the shell into the actual Cicada, the dogs will grab them and eat them. If they can catch them after that they eat them too. We get so many of them that during the day when they are in the trees and singing it is almost deafening. They must taste really good because our dogs fight over them LOL

A friend of mine had a pet boa when we shared an apartment one summer in Houston. I always felt for the poor mice dropped into that viper pit. The snake could sometimes smell them before they got dropped in and knew what was coming. I remember it striking the top of the aquarium on one occasion before the mouse was lowered in. Oh the horror.

Oh yea... that was the summer I waged war against the flea! My roommate had cats, with fleas, too. That's a bug that I don't like, relentless hordes of little biting buggers with armor. Chemical warfare did the trick.

Fun memories from that summer :)

Okay.......good. I didn't want to come across wrong. :)

I remember seeing one of those shells for the very first time. Clinging to a flower. I had no idea what it was and it freaked me right out. I was thinking, What is that thing and What happened to it that it is split open.

Well it looks like the good news for you is that in not to many days, 2 out of 3 of the beasties will be gone from around you (the not the spider ones). The beatles are nymph stages for flying insects . So in a month or so, look to the skies. As far as the spider in the toilet, so many little beasties have been reported to have crawled in through the sewer system, a little spider like that should not worry you :)

OMG!!!!!! i'm never going to be able to use the toilet again..... i'm sure Jacob will be giving me some funny looks, but from now on i'm going to use his potty!! LOL
