Away..
Yea hitt, seems everyone is enjoying their summer activities.
Good for them!. We had a hot terrible dry spell just before vacation.
The next day, after we left, it rained 3 days......all the suns energy stored in that grass and the rain came. Being gone a total of 8 full days...it soaked it up and a jungle formed and continued before my eyes.....sigh............

I wanted and did need the sweeper 2-3 times a yr.........this is a blessing in disguise.
I've already put 30 loads of dead grass on the creek bank and have as much left.
6 acres is a lot of grass!... It doesn't do wet grass well, but I doubt they thought abt me using it. lol
Found its much easier to just cut, then blow into rows that ARE dry, in a hot sun baking, and then pick it up and dump it. Time consuming, but its looking good............

I could always mow less...some things are self inflicted...
My Rustica plants all bloomed.......ok.....I'll have seed, they aren't a big plant but compared to the Cubans...leaves are very small.
Still a success for a 1st season. I can use the grass as mulch around the plants.

I'm considering a second planting. They seem to trigger due to light duration.may work.may not. Nothing to lose but a little bit of time.......

Good morning V. I really don't know anything about growing tobacco but if they are bloomed and you will have seed, does that mean you will be able to harvest some usable tobacco? I don't know how you find time to take care of six acres. I probably have less than an eighth of an acre since I live in a subdivision. I can push mow it in 30-40 minutes and that includes bagging. As the kids get older, there are more and more activities to go to and school hasn't even started yet. Sometimes it's tough to fit in time just to mow and exercise. I couldn't even imagine trying to do all the things that you do.

    Morning all.
hitt, I got it all cut yesterday. Whew.......I waited till the sun dropped over the hill and cut till 8pm. By abt 2-3pm today it should be good and dry. Hopefully the rain will hold off one more day. It'll all be ready to cut by Wed. No sweeping this time. The blades will need to be resharpened. It cuts 48" wide. There's another hr dropping them off, sharpening them and back on. The poor yard sweeper is gonna get lubed with lithium grease too. I looked and it has plastic bushings in the wheels. Only one they carried at Lowes. Wheel bearing grease may soften the plastic. I can measure the bushings and replace them with sealed bearings. Something to do this winter. I shouldn't need it again till the leaves come down in fall.

Yep, since the 3 tallest Rustica bloomed, they will be let go to seed. The other 3 I'm watching now to top them. The flowering takes away from leaf growth. The leaves arent as big as I expected. It is my 1st yr and I didnt prep the ground well. I used Miracle Grow mixed in water. I was afraid of burning them from to much. WerkIt used fish emulsion. Very good, but 10' from the small creek, I'll pass on the raccoon smelling it and digging it up looking got a treat. lol
The Cubans leaves look good, much bigger, but shorter plants too. Been a learning yr.

    Hi jojo,
How are you doing? Hope you are enjoying the summer now. Ever get any leads on your stuff? Its actually a shame I never needed to help you with your laptop. I would have probably done a remote access and I would have the "mac address", not apple lol, of you system and put a passworded access to it for later use with your permission. I could have it accessed now(they would never see me) and gotten the IP it was being used from. The police could then have went to the company owning that address and asked them for the name, went to the house, got it back and them too.

Did you ever have online assistance from the company who made it, say Dell? They would have used the same method and if you called them they may have it still.
If you explained the theft, I'm sure they would give you your own mac address. Its unique for every computer made.
I know you replaced it, but you pics may be there. Even deleted many can be recovered, I do it all the time.

It looks like rain is coming and the grass isn't dry yet. Sigh.......
Now I'll have to go toil over a new cartomizer design with a replaceable plug in coil, take pics, write a tutorial and upload it all along with my pics of the baccy experiment.

Gonna be a brutal afternoon alone today.............

I tossed some of the Thunder #1 test series in a clean tin with some Camel Frost to see if it would help them. It did take on some of the strong unique Frost aroma and flavor but that nasty after taste is still there. These will need a few drops of flavoring to kill that. Was there an option on the voting board for "I'm sorry but they all really suck"?

Vaporor, would love to see some pics of your bloomin' rustica!
How does it feel to have a new full time occupation?! Baccy farmin' must be a real drain, but fulfilling, eh?!
I can't keep up with the weeds in the flower beds....rain has been non stop, heat and humidity unbearable, and summer's wasting..
I'm trying to quit my occupation but there's no end in sight, when you don't want more work it climbs in the windows at you. Am finding the Golden Years are not all they're cracked up to be.

V, it sounds like the tobacco crop is turning out pretty good to me for your first year. Since you mentioned the cartomizers, it reminded me of something. I have been using some of the 510 cartos and have noticed that the ones I got with the removable cap don't seem to fill as well as the glued ones. Both have the silver connector but it seems like the ones with the glued caps fill better and give better flavor. I tried filling one with the removable cap from the connector side like you have to do with the others and that seemed to work better. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I remember Wiz told me that he was only getting like five or six drops at a time in the ones he had with the removable caps.

Hey V. Glad to hear your crop is doing well. If I had more space, I'd definitely consider some grow-it-yourself projects. If I ever move, at least now I'll know where to come get the inside scoop.

Trying to stay cool and take it easy this afternoon. The rest of the weekend flashed by getting things settled back in after being gone last week.

    I hear ya AllCo.
I just rode the mower out to the "crop" lol
My intention was to run the yard sweeper and finish that off before it rained. Darn lying weathermen/people (<--politically correct statement option). I could do that job, you don't have to be right at anytime........:D and no one cares or complains. If they do complain, it lasts abt 12 secs max.....

It's now sunny, hotter than heck, humidity is absolutely unreasonable (again). I don't need to be out in this. Where is the nice breezy beach when you need it? :2cool: It's worse now than a bad late Aug day here. Ok, I'm thinking on the possibility of Global Warming, but agreeing with Al Gore ain't gettin it. We are all goners in 2012, Dec 23rd, so why register a formal complaint? :(

I rode back to the house, got a hoe (garden type  ), Virginia seeds (yea, the same ones that continually died from transplanting), a 2 foot strip of Glad(tm) Press & Seal split down the middle and my camera. Ok, sitting on Press & Seal isn't a good idea in the heat, riding the mower sweating like I just ran 10mi for my life. My glasses were so full of perspiration drippings I couldn't see much and I'm trying to "undo" virtually clear press & seal. Quit laughing....
I took the pics I wanted, then cleared around "the crop" and removed some yellowing bottom leaves. :D
I'll weigh them now and sun dry them in a window. I want them to blanch/cure to yellow or brown. Then, I'll reweigh when dry. It won't be much including all the "crop". I only put out 7 I really cared to tend to, later I put out abt 10-15 late in "the" season. Pics of them too.
And I also just started in the ground(today!) more of the award winning totally failing Virginia (for me anyways). Thats where the press & seal was needed and the hoe. I had mowed a new strip near the creek where it should be good from what I see from the initial trial plants. They may fail due to daylight time.
Some bloom when days shorten. We've already had the shortest day of the yr so maybe I can fool them?
Real tobacco growers are rolling in their graves abt now.:sneaky:

Nothing to loose and a lot to learn.
    I need a Pepsi.......almost a shame I quit drinking. :toast:

Sounds like a fairly productive day V. I am accomplishing nothing today except cleaning a couple carpets that my wife asked me to do. She tried to trick me into going shopping with her and the girls but it didn't work. Her usual routine is to ask me to go to one store and then after we leave the house, I find out that there are 3-5 places we need to go. No thanks. She's a bit grumpy today because the youngest kept her up late since she couldn't sleep.

    Hey all!
Our city is getting invaded by bicycle riders this week. All of the residents on my street got a letter a few weeks ago informing us that we will not be allowed to drive on our street to get to OUR driveways, so we should park on side streets. Um...so who will pay for my car if it gets vandalized? Also, they don't want any children out on bikes for two days either. Guess what...gonna drive down MY street to use MY driveway and my children WILL be biking on the sidewalk in front of MY house that I pay taxes on. Can anyone tell I'm ......?
Training with the crazy German went well today. My dog trials in 3 weeks, I'm getting excited!

Our city is, and has been, invaded by movie crews since Michigan introduced a tax incentive to come here.

Ok guys, I'm going on an extras casting call this morning for the (I'm sure crappy) movie Scream 4. Wish me luck!!! $45 per hour plus they feed you. They will be filming the next four months here. I don't care so much about getting my mug on film as much as the $45 an hour. I'll offer anything I can possibly do for that monies. W00t!

During my whole 21 years in the Army, I was a Blackhawk Crew Chief or Platoon Sergeant. So flying in helicopters all the time meant I had to smoke cigs when ever we landed. Unless I had a "Smoke Friendly" couple of pilots. During flight, I would use snuff to keep the nicotine cravings at bay. While still a youngin, I had to have a small part of my gum removed due to spot cancer from the snuff. I've not had another spot since then, but I'm not gonna risk doing anything but vaping.

Good luck Kookie. I hope you get it. It sounds like fun to me.

Frank, I can understand you not wanting to do anything besides vape and that is your choice. It is possible that the smoking contributed to that cancer spot just as much as the snuff. Swedish snus is a totally different animal than American snuff. The process which by it is made makes it 98 percent safer than smoking and there is quite a bit of history and research behind it. Don't get me wrong, I still vape too, but I wish there was that kind of knowledge base for vaping.

I think I'll take the movie crews over the bikes! I'd probably fall in on your side, Axl. It would take more than a few guys on Schwins to keep me off my street.

Nothing really going on today, the uber-boss is in town so it looks like this week is going to be all a matter of keeping my head down and looking busy. ;)

Ah crap! Eh, I'll take the bikes. The people on bikes probably aren't arrogant little ....... I got into a fight with some hollywood SOB. The guy was being a real ... so I knocked him down a notch. He whined, "I'm gonna call the polieeeece!?" I told him, "Go ahead ya' little piss ant, your in Detroit now, I think the cops have more important things to do! ya' @#$%-#$^%^^&, $%#^%##&!!!" So, all in all I did have a little fun, but of course, no work after that, lol!!!

So, I got home by noon and I slept all day! Boy did I need that!!! I've been running since last Thursday and tiried as hell. (That's pretty much what sent me over the edge to not take any crap from anyone.) I feel Much better. :)

Good morning. Sorry things didn't work out for you kookie. At least you got rested up a little. I have some of the deuce you mentioned. I got a small bottle with an order I placed at litecig. It is different than any other flavors I have tried before. It kinda seems like a citrus kind of flavor.

Hey gang. Another slow day, I see. Guess we're all trying to squeeze in as much summer as possible. Can't say I blame ya, Kookie. Every now and then you need to dispense attitude adjustments to keep folks honest.

I'm just back from the vet with another $200 bill for treating an ear infection. Ten days of meds and then a trip back for a checkup. Lucky that little bugger is so cute. ;)
