I know it's hard but try not to stress over the boss thing too much. There are plenty more bosses out there but there aren't any more daughters like the one you have. Family is always more important than work and if he can't understand that then screw him. My boss has been a bit of a pain in the ... the few times I have called in sick in the last 13 years but he has never hung up on me. I don't know if I could deal with one like you have. You know you did the right thing by staying home with her and that's what matters.

Roth- Geez, were they trying to drown you?? That had to be terrible!

Dr. didn't run any tests (surprise surprise) but gave her a prescription for Zithromax, which has worked on her in the past. Said it was probably viral. Seems we pay alot for them to give out random medicines and vague guesses. The system is what it is, I guess. She is in good spirits today, but she is on motrin and Titus freezy packs to keep her temp down. LOOOOONG weekend. Oh, and my boss hung up on me last night when I called to give a heads up that I wouldn't be in today. Gotta love mondays.

OMG! Your boss hung up on you. That's not right!
How long have you been working for this @#$%^&*?
But, more importantly hows your daughter?
My 7 year old was sick last week - 104 temp - took him to Dr. gave him antibiotic. Now my 18 year old has strep..........strange summer indeed.

My boss hanging up on me isn't as big as deal as it sounds. He is prone to such tantrums and it passes quickly. Not that it is ok, it is ridiculous, but I just take it to mean my presence will be missed THAT much, lol. He has been on the rampage lately!

I've finally allowed my daughter off of the couch and right now she is playing happily. The last dose of motrin should wear off in an hour or so, and then I will be able to get a feel for how she really is. Thank you everyone for your words of support!

Jojo- What did your son have? How many days did his fever last? I hope your daughter recovers quickly!

Evenin' all :). Twas my 3 day weekend off and got called in a day early for a 12 hour shift. Such is life, but overtime $$$ is always welcome.

TV, you livin in the back woods?
Mine is a 400cc but they make 500 and 650's and I've heard talk of 800's and 900's coming.

Well.....yeah!! I can't even begin ta tell ya how long I looked before I found just the right cave. Fought with that ol' mama cougar fer 3 days just to git 'er used to the smell of me bein' around.

Welcome, Hendry (and all the other new faces)! Snus is definitely the king at killing cravings in my world. Glad you found something that works for you too. Gen. Wintergreen gets a black eye from some of the old hands around here, but I love the stuff. ;)

I'll tell you the same as I did OTD about that nasty Wintergreen......:censored:! Even though it's only my opinion, I feel I need to express that as part of my control measures that will eventually lead to world domination. I'll get back to you later with a list of perceived "more beneficial" snus.....and a bright light.

W, I'm happy to hear your daughter is doing better. Hopefully her body's had enough of a break to tackle that virus. I'm largely anti-pharmaceutical, but sometimes that's what it takes to get the job done. As long as she gets more better :).

Wow, that's all they did? Good to hear she appears to be coming out of it. Gotta love the boss for being sympathetic.

Yeah, that wasn't one of the highlight periods of my life, but it was one well remembered. Probably the sickest I ever got. I looked like I got out of refugee camp after basic, but I was through and alive. :)

TV, you crack me up. I'm watching last comic standing and I think you could win. Well, if the leggy blond wasn't still standing and she layed down at the end of here routine.:p

I agree on the pharmaceuticals, especially now that I'm older. The stuff I took in my twenties would probably kill me today. However, it gave me a whole new perspective of life at the time.

Leggy blond.....ah, brings back memories of puberty.....ahhh........ Boy, puberty sure was rough. The first woman I ever fell for was stretched over a chopper in a 1976 "Easy Riders" magazine. I took the picture out, folded it and carried it in my wallet til...til...uh, surely I don't still.......erm.....I guess some hopes never fade away.

So glad to hear that your little one is doing better.
Its a mystery to me how little ones can get a high fever for a day or two and then act as if nothing happened. I usually take it serious when its over 103 and it last more than 2 days.
My 7 year old had sinus infection - my 18 year old (son) had strep.
Both were put on antibiotics and doing much better.

    that's just too funny...

just poppin in to ponder how often you over sniff the nasal, and how often are you using saline...

-getting ready to go pack my guns for the move...

    marlboro pep
    halo truepure
a warm can of pepsi cause the glass of tea in my pocket went a little differently than planned...

hova, my snuff usage varies from day to day. Sometimes I use it when I need a quick strong fix and sometimes I use it simply because I enjoy the scents of some of the ones that are not as strong. On average I would say that I probably only use 4-5 pinches in each nostril a day at the most. As far as the saline spray, I usually use it once or twice a day. My sinuses are pretty dry normally even without the snuff so I should probably use the saline anyway even if I wasn't snuffing. I don't always use snuff every day but it seems that if I have learned anything so far on this journey to quit smoking, it is that no two days will be the same as far as cravings and snus, snuff, and vaping usage.

thats true. i remember when i first got my ecig i went a week without smoking the last 3 smokes i had , but now it just doesnt do it for me , i still have to have at least a couple smokes. hopefully a couple new atomizers and some more pina colada from vaporcountry will curb my cig cravings. that along with the snus should help me beat it once and for all..

so let me get this straight , you dont actually pack your nostril , you just sort of snort a little bit , or do you like coat your fingers and play with your shnoz?

i would think trying to get a light coating would result in lots going down the back...

People do it different ways. Some use a bullet and I started out using one but not all snuffs are useable in a bullet. Some others take a pinch between their thumb and first finger and roll their fingers while sniffing lightly. I do what I fondly refer to as the OTD thumbnail method. I push my thumb into the first finger of my hand to form a little pocket. Then tap a little snuff onto my thumbnail and hold that up to my nose and sniff lightly. When I first started snuffing, I looked like I had dipped my nose into a bowl of dry chocolate cake mix and would often get what I refer to as a brain hit. A brain hit is what I call it when you sniff too hard and it feels like someone hit you in the forehead with a mallet and your eyes roll back in your head. You have to be extra careful with the fine powdery snuffs since they are so easily taken. Also they do make a snuff spoon that you can use to place the snuff into your nostril. It only takes a portion about the size of an apple seed in each nostril to do the trick. It does take a little practice but it's not too hard to get used to taking it in without getting a brain hit or getting it in the back of your throat too much. Some snuffs don't taste like much of anything but the honey bee is a nice one to get a throat drip since it tastes as good as it smells.

maybe one day i would try a little sample if i knew someone who had it , but i dont think the wife would understand whats up with all the saline bottles and why im sniffing all the time... pretty sure id be ...... in a cup in no time...

the only thing i ever saw on nasal snuff was something on "believe it or not" and it was the german or dutch snuff festival , and they were packing it in their noses with everything from their fingers , to this one lady had a contraption like those frog-launch games at the fair. only she put her chin on one side with a whole can of snuff under the lever , and smacked the other side with a mallet... i think she got like 19 grams up her nose...

That sounds funny hova. I wish I would have seen it. There's a video on you tube of some kid that snuffed a whole tin of ozona. He poured it out in a line like a line of something else that is not tobacco and sniffed it with a straw. What an idiot. Like I said, a normal portion for each nostril is about the size of an apple seed and there is some waste to that because you never get it all in your nostril. I have been known to do two pinches in each nostril to kill a bad craving but that is as far as I go. If you ever decided you wanted to try some I could send you a little of a few different kinds to try. I have several WoS snuffs, a few toque, a couple ozona, swisher honey bee and swisher square, and I think I have a partial bullet of dholakia swiss chocolate, and wow coffee bites. If I can find it, I also have some SG black coffee that sunset gave me. I also have a full bullet of QWS irish coffee. Just let me know if there are any I have that interest you. A little snuff goes a long way and I have a lot that I bought to beat out the PACT crap.

Afternoon all :). A moderately moderate day around these parts. I like the occasional slow day when I can sit back, relax and listen to the reassuring sound of the supervisor on the other side of the wall complain about his 2 missing chair wheels. And the accusations roll off me like water on a ducks back.......
A good day indeed to catch up on the latest headlines. And looky there.. NY police find live cat 'marinating' in car trunk - U.S. news - msnbc.com. You can't buy this kind of entertainment :).

Hi gang. It's good to see the conversation staying active! Snuff was definitely an acquired taste for me, but I find myself using it mainly when I need something to hit quick to take the edge off. A quick pinch or two in the afternoons have been what's gotten me through the last couple of days at work. Once I explained what it was, the people I work with get a kick out of trying to "catch" me mid-snuff. It beats the alternative of hiding in the men's room, though!
