I really wish they would make more PG13 movies. Or even G movies that are spook shows. What is the point of putting in 10 seconds of boobs? Don't get me wrong It's all good, but I would like to be able to watch more movies with my sons and daughters.

A G rated spooker basically equates to Tim Burton. Cool and everything, but little spook factor.

Most of the PG13 fare you'll find is pretty tame. It's rare to find one that has the right amount of suspense. A few you might have tried:

"The Others" - A woman cares for her two children while her husband is away at war. The children have a rare allergy that traps the three of them in their home until a trio of house servants shows up with something to hide. Not so scary, but great suspense.

"Skeleton Key" - A young nurse finds some cajun style voodoo going on in the home of her elderly charge. If you're familiar with horror, it's a familiar story arc, but it's still a nice bit of bayou-flavored fun for the younger set.

"The Prestige" - More of a suspense than horror, but VERY well done. Two magician friends have a falling out when one's wife dies during a botched trick. A rivalry ensues that will end up destroying them both. It has one of those endings that makes you want to watch the whole thing over again as soon as it's through.

If you're looking for PG13 spookers to watch with the kids, try the SUSPENSE aisle at the video store. Many movies that could be considered tame horror end up in suspense simply because there isn't a pile of blood in them.

The Audition

Ringu (Japanese The Ring... Ringu is WAY better)

Ju Gon (Japanese The Grudge WAY better)

I've never seen Audition, but I heard it was pretty intense. Never seen any Hostel movies either. I'm not really into the torture stuff.

Watched 28 Weeks Later last night. Meh, not that good. Pretty boring, actually. Anyone got any recommendations for some good movies to get. I haven't really watched much recent stuff.

Stephra - The Prestige sounds pretty good. Always in for some good suspense, also. That reminds me of the movie The Game with Michael Douglas. I really liked that one.

It's a shame "Four Room" is on that list - it's a great movie, and very quotable. It's a bellhop's worst night on the job ever. I love it!

Redgirl - if you like "The Prestige", I'd also suggest trying "Perfume: Story of a Murderer". It follows an orphan with a supernatural sense of smell. After going to work for a perfumer, he becomes obsessed with making the perfect scent, and goes to murderous lengths to succeed. NOT a PG13 flick!

All great horror movies.

My opinion, the best horror movie was the origonal Alfred Hitchcock's 'Phycho'.

Best Camp Horror movie with all the top actors, Vincent Price, Boris Carloff, Peter Lorie and *drum roll* Jack Nicholson (who is so young you probably wouldn't even recognized him) in......'The Raven'.

Jack Nicholson also had a bit part in the ORIGINAL "Little Shop of Horrors", directed by Roger Corman. It was a throwaway movie, made using leftovers from "Bucket of Blood". These are like the ultimate in guerilla filmmaking, shooting lasted two days, made on practically non-existent budgets. They make TROMA look like Hollywood.

So what is your favorite Horror movie or movies of all time.

I'll start with The Shining.

Well we agree on this one Brad. The Shining is my favorite too, although I think the Exorcist is scarier.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned this yet!

I'll throw in Frailty as one creepy and underrated movie.
