Also what type of device are you going to be using? Im using an RBA and a rda which is awesome with higher VG blends. My juice right now is 70/30 VG/PG. I like bigger clouds and because its not feeding from a tank into a carto thickness doesnt matter and with these more advanced devices more VG is actually better. Like Perfect Clouds liquids have way more VG in them, thus being thicker and producing more clouds.

I've only been at this for a year and started with 808. I thought if I was going to DIY I better upgrade my equipment! I just ordered a couple of eGo 650s (one is a passthrough), along with atomizers and drip tips, cartomizers, and clearomizers. I plan on dripping to taste and refine recipes. I like to use clearos at home, but I've had problems with clearos leaking in my purse/pockets, so I use cartos on the go.

I'll most like try more advanced equipment in the future, but I'm starting out slow because I'm still learning.

VG adds sweetness ~ if you want a juice that is sweet, but not too thick, you can add a bit of sweetener or (my preference) "cotton candy" flavor (tpa/tfa brand ~ "plain" cotton candy, not circus). I know there is a proper name for the 'flavor' ~ it's also sold as a sweetener ~ but can't remember what it's called. Perhaps someone else can offer that tid-bit of info.

I do like a little sweetener with some flavors. I reluctantly picked up a bottle of TFA Sweetener, but I would not eat anything with sucralose, so I'm not sure I'll use it. I found out about cotton candy (containing ethyl maltol) yesterday after I had ordered everything, but I did buy a bottle of ethyl maltol. Are there any other alternatives for sweetening?

I'm a 60PG/40VG @ 15mg fan. Although, must admit that I've 'cheated' some numbers (±2 or 3 percentage points) on da eJMU calc just to get some round numbers to work with for new recipes.

BTW, started out with 75P/25V pre-DIY. Back then, many vendors only offered 75/25, 50/50 and 25/75.

If I could have given you 5 likes for post I quoted you'd have gotten them from me.

I've made every ratio available....60/40 works better in any "BATTERY TOPPER" then all others....15 mg is what I vape, its the lowest I can go and still get satisfied

Thats how I started off too. I bought this cheapy drip-o-mizer from liberty flights and it was cool for about a week or so and then it got all gunky and I had to toss it. but for only 2 bucks what can you expect. I got a higher end Rebuildable dripping atomizer now so I can just rebuild as I try out more flavors. But you can get a octupus by smoktech? i think for like 15 bucks and thats a RDA. This way you dont have to waste a whole Ml of liquid on your carto to get a taste of what its like.

But if your using cartos id say 50/50 or 60/40. Some flavors to me seem way thinner and flood my cartos even though their the same ratio of another flavor that doesnt flood. I know weird. so I have to bump it up to 60% VG or sometimes higher.

A year, eh?

I tried an ego in late 2011 but never stuck with it. I've only been a daily vaper using NO CIGS for 10 months. So you have me beat.

I'm very new to DIY and I'm trying to gather ideas. After reading a ton of information, it seems like a 70% PG / 30% VG seems to to be the most popular combo. What combo do you use? Do you use this combination all the time, or change it up depending on the flavor you're mixing?

Thanks.

70/30 is my go too for 3 reasons- it wicks nice in clearomizers without clogging, it carries flavor well, it has enough VG to produce a good amount of vapor.

The difference your seeing in the amount of flavor your getting with PGvsVG is the amount of time you let it steep. If you are doing light flavors(fruits, drinks, etc) they will blend fairly easily and quickly with VG. Mix it and vape it pretty fast and it tastes good. Tobaccos and dark heavy flavors do not blend easily. Mix some chocolate or coffee in high ratio VG to PG then vape right fast and you'll see what a lick on a horses rear end tastes like(don't remember who said that but that's good stuff). They take time. No way around it. You let VG blends sit with the same amount of flavor as you put in just PG blends they will eventually steep in and be as flavorful as just PG. You either wait or accelerate it. I use no more flavor than folks are putting in 100% PG blends. Mine are PG35/VG65 or PG30/VG70. I am accelerating steeping in every way I can possibly find too. All my blends have tobacco and several have different chocolates, coffee, and caramel in them. All those take time to steep.
Remember folks VG is Plant FAT. How hard is it to get fat to take flavor?
