Hello all. So I've been easing myself into vaping gently over the last few days and really starting to get used to it and loving it. I got the standard Ego-C kit with the normal batteries, atomiser and cartridges and have been using it for about three days. i am now noticing the taste and vapor reducing and am guessing it is time to do some cleaning/maintaining. So what are my next steps. I've seen a youtube video on how to clean it all, but how long can I expect to get out of the atomiser heads and cartridges before they need replacing rather than cleaning etc.?

thanks, I'll give it a go. Although I'm already considering moving away from the atty and cartridge...any suggestions? Was thinking of the Boge or Kanger T3

You're welcome. The eGo- C fires at 3.3 volts. Your choices are:

Cartomizer/ Carto- metal tube with stuffing and element. Holds anywhere form 1- 4 ml of juice. Carto is fully saturated and must be occasionally refilled when juice runs out. My Cartos last 1-2 weeks. Best Cartomizer I’ve found is the Smok Tech XL 1.7 single coil. Boge 2.0 ohm cartos will give a cooler vape. Always use single coil cartos with 3.3- 3.7 PVs for the best vape.

Carto+Tank- a Carto with a hole punched in it. Carto is than placed in a glass, metal or plastic tank which is filled with juice- juice saturates Carto by way of hole in Carto. My Cartos with a tank last, before tight draw occurs: light juices- 80-90 ml. dark juices- 50-60 ml.

Clearomizer (includes the Stardust and the Vivi Nova Tank)- a plastic or metal tank with a wick and element. Contains NO stuffing. The rebuildable clearos come with heads (coil+ wick) that can be cheaply ($2.00) and easily replaced. When the head burns out simply unscrew the old head out and screw in new head- takes 10 secs. My Vivi Nova heads are lasting about 10+ weeks BUT I wash the heads every few days. I've found the Vivi Nova to give the best draw. If buying the make absolutely sure it's the Vision brand Mini Vivi Nova 2.0 ml- knockoffs are problematic.
As for Boges and Smok Tech I haven't bought any since I began using the Vivi. Either carto is a good brand BUT first fill of a carto is VERY important to achieve a great vape and longevity of the carto- hard to get them fully saturated on the first fill.
If you enjoy a warm vape you'll prolly want either 1.7 or 2.0 ohms- always buy single coil.

While I won't discount a good cleaning, are you sure you aren't just losing your taste buds? I have had a HELL of a go with it the past few days. I couldn't taste any juice so I cleaned both my vivi's, still nothing, ran out and bought a Kanger to try, little better, then it went away. I did a side by side with the same flavors in a carto and the new kanger, nothing. Then I slept, and all was well in the AM, and by the end of the day, gone again.

I have been drinking a TON of water but it hasn't helped. I just burn out. hopefully I will adjust eventually. I was a little concerned but this thread - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/307317-i-lost-my-taste-buds.html - was helpful to set me at ease. Apparently it's pretty common.

I find eGo-C atomizers can probably last about 6 weeks, even longer if you clean them, but at £4 each, I don't bother. I don't use them much anymore either.

cool, I was worried that i would be replacing them every few days or week!! Although I've already been looking at all the shiny new things on Vape Escape!

Yeah, I've topped it up a few times. when empty though, the cartridge looks like it has some goo in it, presumably some juice that has thickened. So I'm sure it can be cleaned out, although I have spare cartridges.

Darker juices will clog up the cartridge and atty quicker. Also high VG juices. Standard ratios are 70/30 or 80/20 PG/ VG.
