When did your analog cravings go away?

I know that it's a YMMV thing, but I was wondering how long it takes before the craving for analogs is gone (for those of you who are no longer analog).

Today was my first day vaping and I've been alternating, but my intention is to not buy analogs any more (I have 5 cigs left). I'd quit smoking completely for 2 years once so I have that experience under my belt, but my plan is to not go thru that again. I believe I will be successful in that thanks to the vaping, which will help with the worst symptoms of the time I quit. When I quit before, I was automatically reaching for a cig every couple of minutes at first, and gradually I was going longer before reaching for a cig, and it was at three weeks that I realized it was noon and I hadn't even thought about a smoke.

I know that vaping is not the same as smoking, and I didn't expect it would be, since I did a lot of research here before I made the leap, but I believe it will help, especially with the "reaching for a cig every 10 minutes". My body is still craving those 180 deadly chemicals right now, though, so I was wondering about others' experiences, mostly for moral support, I guess.

One thing is for sure: I quit before, and can make the switch to vaping now, and there is NO WAY I'm going back to spending $200 a month on analogs. Damn straight. ;)

Thanks, everyone.

I quit the analogs the day after I got my first PV, the worst of it took me about 2 weeks. Right now I'm sitting at a little over 2 months, and I don't feel any cravings. In fact I don't get cravings to vape either, really.

I work in a field that sometimes you don't get a break on an 8-10 hour shift, for more than a minute at a time. I used to start getting cranky without a cigarette after 2ish hours. Now I start getting a bit cranky without a vape after 5-6 hours...but that's mostly because I know that if I don't take a minute to sit down and rest, I'm gonna be sore as hell the next day.

Foolofgrace (haha, love your name :)),

The very first day that I bought an electronic cigarette I quit. Now, don't get me wrong, the urges were still there, but everytime I had an urge I would go for the e-cig. I actually vaped till I turned blue (never good, avoid that) and even the smell of a regular cigarrete would turn me off.

I was so enamored with the new little gadget that I eventually forgot about cigarettes. Now, if you still have urges for regular cigarettes, try going up on your Nicotine level intake. I started at 12mg and it wasn't enough, I still felt urges to smoke, so I decided to go to 24mg in one jump and never looked back.

You WILL be able to quit. That's a fact. You just gotta find your ground, be it more nicotine or whatever other factor that might influence you to only vape.

Wish you the best, Grace.

Hmm. More of a lurker than a poster but had to answer this one. I've smoked for 30 years. Never had any intentions of stopping. Saw the ecigs and thought, hmmm. Healthier, and cheaper. I want some of that. Bought a kit and juice. Put down the cigs, and haven't had one since. Maybe day 3 or 4 had me missing something. I wouldn't call it craving. It's been over a month now since I gave up the tobacco.

Vaping is just simply better and nicer than smoking and is dead easy to switch to. I read that others had likened it to switching brands. Now that I've done it I'd have to concur.

I still have no intentions of quitting smoking, even though in reality I have! Lol...

Maybe I was just lucky but from my experience any cravings (if any), are likely more psychological than physical and the excitement of the new kit plus all the juices perhaps over-rides the boring old cigarette.

Cheers,

Arkay.

Like many others when I had my first good e-cig I didn't have any more cravings. I know that is not the case for many. I did for some odd reason buy a pack about a week in to compare the feeling. I smoked two about half way down that day and threw the rest away. I honestly don't think it was a physical craving that led to that though, more of a dabbling curiosity as to whether I was really over them...I was; yuck!

The idea is to let yourself have that analog when you want it. Thats what made me quit it entirely. 2 days after vaping, i lit up an analog to find myself hating the taste/smell. Ended throwing it away after 3 drags.
2 weeks in now and i find that i rarely, if ever, have that craving anymore. If i do, i just vape a few and it goes away easily

I think that the 3day mark was the real turning-stone for me, and the first day I went out of the house without my security pack. I still had minor cravings here and there especially with a nice cup of coffee or after a good meal but these were much more subtle and ignorance until day 7 or so. To this day I wonder what a cigarette would taste like but I still don't dare try it!

I've been vaping for a year on and off, going as long as a few months without smoking or as little as a week or two, but I generally can't all the way give up on burning tobacco, the e-cig still saves me oodles of money and has improved our family's health, but you could say I've given up on quitting, without the pressure of "trying" to quit I smoke less anyway. :)

I began vaping not to quit smoking, but rather with the mind set that I'd supplement my smokes with e-cigs and maybe cut back a bit. Two packs a day plus for 40 years was making it hard to work in this summers heat. So I went for a couple of weeks doing both and had to make myself smoke the last of my analogs. I had simply come to prefer e-cigs.

A week or so later, I bummed an analog from a friend while drinking some beer, and let him try an e-cig. He didn't like it much, and I pitched the analog after a couple of hits. Tasted like crap compared to the Boba's Bounty I'd been vaping!

So now I have a new hobby. Get to order all kinds of e-cig stuff on line, and not feel a bit guilty spending the money trying out different things since if not for my e-cigs I'd be buying a carton of Marlboro's every 2-3 days for the wife and I anyway.

My impression is that most people who have trouble quitting analogs haven't yet found the right hardware and or juice yet. I also think psychologically, that not making analogs a forbidden fruit is an easier way of quitting altogether as well. At least for me it was.

Not all new vapers have those side effects Litespeeed. Many have a mild sore throat, but I think the mouth ulcers are pretty rare. I didn't have either, or the coughing.

Unlike many who've posted here, i stopped smoking slowly over about 6 weeks. I wasn't even planning to quit. Even cutting back would have been a win. So, if i wanted a cig, i had one. But the cravings decreased and i stopped wanting cigs, so i stopped smoking them. That was more than 20 months ago, and for me it was the more natural, painless way to do it. YMMV

Is it true that all new vapers, will experience the painful ulcers & sore throats? Kinda freak me out on that

No, it's not true.

When I quit analogs the first time I did get mouth sores but this was way before e-cigs came out. About three years ago I switched to lights from the full flavor 100mm sickarettes in the red box I had been smoking and didn't get mouth sores at all. I think it was the chemicals in the sickarettes leaving my body that caused the mouth sores :)

I put the sickarettes down the day my first e-cig came in the mail and that was a bit more than six weeks ago and haven't smoked an analog since. I started out with 24mg juice and the quit was easier than anything else I've tried. None of those knock you to your knees cravings and the cravings I did have were pretty mild and solved by toking on the e-cig. After about three days I was pretty sure this quit was gonna be successful :D

About ten days into it I found the idea of smoking an analog pretty disgusting (the spousal unit was still smoking but has since quit), and at five weeks I cut my nic levels from 24mg to 18. I normally vape about 2ml a day give or take and for a couple days after I cut nic levels my juice intake went up and battery life went down, but a little more than a week after the step-down I'm back to my normal ~2ml a day.

Hope this helps -

I started vaping around Aug 17 (or whatever my siggy says). Since that time I've had ~3.5 analog cigarettes, and all but the .5 was in the first 3 days. I had a half of one the other day, just to see what it would taste like (gross).

I haven't had any mouth sores. I did have a cough one night, about a week in. Felt kind of like an asthma attack, but it went away, and I don't know if it was due to quitting the analogs, or over-vaping a particular flavor, or just coincidence.

I didn't get an ecig to quit analogs but I have only had 1 the day after getting it. I don't think I have even craved an analog. I am at 1.5 months and cannot say that I have had any of the stop smoking symptoms yet except getting taste back and no more wheezing.
