When do you need a new coil exactly? Did I mess one up?

So I went through about 3ml of liquid in my Smoktech Aro 2 and I think I put the voltage up a tad to much(VV spinner) with my VelvetCloud E Liquid(All VG, maybe thats why?) because it waste odd all of a sudden, not burnt but foul I guess. I cleaned out the tank, let it sit in some 90% alcohol and water mix, the fibers are still white and clean looking, did I mess up the atomizer part somehow? I have no new coils but plan on buying some now, just curious if there is a way to save this one till my shipment comes in? I heard you can dry burn them but that seems odd since I might have burnt it to much already no?

I meant to post this in the new user forum...sorry.,,

You could open up the coil casing and take a look. If it's burnt, you can rewick it with some organic cotton. Just pull the wick out and push a little roll of cotton through the coils. It's usually a pretty easy fix, depending on what type of coil your tank uses. I order my organic cotton online, but I hear they sell it in a lot of drug stores.
If you see a clean wick when you open the casing, it may be that your liquid needs to air out. I have a flavor that requires me to let it sit withthe cap permanently off, otherwise I get a very harsh (almost burnt) taste when I vape it.

Prime it? You mean let it soak? I will admit, I was sorta chaining it, I tend to do that instead of vaping throughout the day...is there a better tank for heavy VG liquids? I was looking at the iclear30...also at some of the Aspire ones, the smoktech aro 2 one I have leaks a bit and is hard to clean since the center is so small, don't really care for it, the 2 dollar cheapo I got at a deli actually works better and wicks better.

The wick looks pretty much unused, all white, slight yellow from the liquid near the center, I am using VelvetCloud, some seem thicker then others, this one was pretty thin.

If I was to buy another tank I am gonna try to keep it around the 10 dollar range honestly, new to this, don't wanna break the bank yet. I will order from Fasttech though, I don;t mind waiting and using the cheap 2 dollar one for now...if a good tank is much cheaper there.

By "priming" I mean give it a few good sucks before firing up the coil. This will draw the fluid into the wick to make sure it's nice and soaked. If you're chain-vaping and/or using high vg liquid, it's a good idea to do it periodically, and it should always be done before firing up a brand new coil.
As far as tanks for high vg, I'm not sure. Generally, 100% vg tends to work better in drip systems than in tanks. You may need to find juice with pg in it. Or you could try adding a teensy bit of distilled water or vodka to your current juice... But only very little, or it won't produce vapor. (I know from experience that a little goes a loooong way.)
Also, when looking at your wicks, did you actually remove the chimney and peer inside the coil housing? Most of the time I can't tell how burnt my wicks are until I break the housing open to pull them out and rewick. Sometimes I can tell they're burnt from the outside of the coil case, but not very often.

I see, yeah I did prim it then, at least at first...

Yeah I broke the housing open and took the wick out(Almost lost a couple strands), its pretty clean looking, I only used Stawb Gawb in it, its a very light yellow so it doesn't seem to gunk up to much, I washed the wick also...I think its already cut with distilled water, at least thats what the VelvetCloud site says, so I guess technically its not 100 percent VG.

Not sure I wanna do a drip system as I would like to carry a loaded tank in my pocket at times, plus it seems more complicated I guess.

I tried a PG juice, didn't like the feeling, kinda a shame, thats why I went with full VG, PG made my throat hurt a tad.

Is it possible the juice burnt? Maybe thats whats causing the foul taste? It was a 2.0 Ohm coil and I went as far as 4.5 volts...trying to find the flavor mainly, this juice wasn't giving much flavor...
