Hi all,
I just got my new Blu e-cig yesterday, and like it so far. Throat is alittle sore, so just re-ordered ultra-light carts. Like the flavors, and ordered some JC liquids (0 nicotine) to mix with the Blu flavors for variety, so everything seems good .....
But my problem is I seem to be puffing on my cute little black stick all day. With cigarettes, I know "Ok, I just smoked one, so go do something." With the e-cig I'm sitting here wondering if I've smoked a "cigarette" worth, maybe not, put it down, pick it up 5 minutes later, try some more .......
I could see where someone, like in another post I saw, could get like 144mg nicotine at the drop of a hat. I'm asking myself if I feel jittery, but I seem about average. Does anyone have any advise? Should I count my puffs? Maybe use a timer? Geesh! I wanted the e-cigs to cut down on my smoking (usually 3/4-1 pack/day), get rid of the smell, save money, etc, but I think I could become a freak with this .... HELP!

Could be that you are not getting enuff nic....Could be it tastes so much better....could be a thousand diff reasons.
But we all do it.....
ecigs delivers nic differently than analogs....
with analogs you get a direct hit to the lungs. instant gradifcation.
with ecigs most of the nic is absorbed thru the mouth and throat and it takes longer to get in your system....hence you vape more...
Be sure to drink plenty of liquids as vaping dryes you out BIG TIME.....
probably what is giving you a sore throat....
:)

Just go with it as long as you're not feeling sick. You have a new toy and you want to play with it. Everyone does that at first....it will taper off. If you think you're getting too much nic (you'll know...) just lower the nicotine level in your juices. In order to really break the habit, you will need to be able to vape whenever you feel the least craving for a cig. After awhile you will notice that you are not vaping as much (when the novelty wears off.) I wouldn't worry about it.

After I had been cigarette free for a couple of weeks, I smoked one and it made me light-headed. So I don't think we're getting as much nicotine by chain-vaping as we would from chain smoking. And you're only getting the nicotine....not all the other crap from cigs (like carbon monoxide and all the other chemicals) so go for it.

When do you put it down?

Rarely :)

But really... the first 3 weeks I couldn't hardly put it down. Even had to sneak away from my desk to stealth vape. Now I catch myself carrying my pv around but not vaping as much. Although I did just get a couple of new juices I can't keep my lips off of!

Don't worry... just enjoy! :vapor:

Griff, I know how it is man! I got vanilla, coffee, cherry and menthol with my Blu, and have been switching around all day. I also just ordered some juice from Johnson Creek in 0 mg nic that I am going to try to add to my carts to change flavors in a few. I got chocolate-mint, black cherry, and one that's supposed to be like cloves ..... man, I miss my clove cigs ....

I've been at it for seven months and I still don't put it down. The good news is eventually you will likely be able to go without it for far longer then you could have ever comfortably gone without a cigarette. Last night I went to dinner with hubby and friends to a smoke/vape free establishment. We stayed 5 hours, drinking was involved, and not once did I have any craving for my pv. Today, I'm back to chain vaping. :)

I posted a similar thread a few months back. I think that once you stop worrying the vaping will take care of itself. Your body will give you all the signals you need to decide if you have had too much. Once you have found the right level of nicotine, your cravings will subside. You would need to make yourself very ill and continue to vape in order to OD on nic. If you do find that you have had too much it will typically flush from your system in a few hours.

Stress = cigarette cravings. Not good. Try to relax and enjoy your new hobby!

You put it down when you go to sleep.

No really... I think most everyone chain vapes as long as they are allowed to. If Im not working, I have a PV in my hand. Which is actually another cool thing about vaping vs. smoking - once I switched, my day wasnt defined by how many cigarettes I could smoke, or when my next smoke break was. So, while I can chain vape all day... it doesnt bother me if I cant, and I dont get grouchy every 2 hours if I havent had a smoke.

As others have said, if you arent feeling weird then your nic level isnt too high. You could try upping it, but I would say you're probably fine.

I am starting to feel a bit jittery now ..... I was smoking menthol ultra-light 120's (what my husband called "girlie cigarettes") so I think the 12mg carts might be a little high. I have 8mg carts coming, and will try them also. I am not really craving regular cigarettes, but in the back of my mind feel like I should be smoking them still ..... does that make sense? LOL I am such a creature of habit!
Thanks everybody for the help -

I smoked Merit Ultra Lights, then Marlboro Menthol Ultra Lights (neither of which are cool for a motorcycle riding guy with tats  )

I started with 18mg, went up to 24mg... and now, just shy of 3 years, I am down to 11mg. I would say just keep messin around until you find the right groove.

You'll get there ;)

I just started vaping last week, put the bakky away last Tues, after having none all day. Had about 1/2 of an analog last night, but tossed it. Had no use for it. My wife noted that I was vaping a lot more than if I smoked, and I tend to agree, but I think part of that is the newness, plus I can vape inside, and not bother her or the kids. I try not to vape if the kids are on my lap, though. The kids and I went to the Santa Clause parade last night, and I puffed like mad. Got some funny looks, but no comments. :)
I figure I'll back down in time as well, especially if I'm busy with something, or can't get to the cig right away. I can leave it for some time when needed. I also tend to chain vape as well. I only have one flavour, Jugheads Ry4, in liquid, 24mg, but my Volt kit came with 5 flavours of 0% that I'm trying as well. I'll grab the 0% if I feel overloaded.
Funny thing is, I remember the dayswhen I could smoke in the house, and I would be engrossed in building a model or something, grab a smoke, light it, and then forget about it, while it burned away in the ashtray. Now I can grab the ecig, get a puff or two and go back to what I was doing. :vapor:
