When is 24mg really 24mg? Vapor vs Analog nic content

Ok, so a nicotine patch says it has 21mg of nicotine delivered over a 24 hour period - nicotine gum comes in 2mg and 4mg sizes/flavors/doses?

at any rate - its easy to calculate - 1 piece of gum, = 2mg nicotine

now, a bottle of e-liquid is labled at some rating like 11mg or 18 or 24mg - but what is the measurement related to? is it 24mg per drop, per milliliter?
That seems pretty high, is it per bottle? that seems too low - but if its per ml then thats like over a hundred mg of nic in a bottle - that just doesnt make sense...

anyone know what the deal is with this? I am trying to do some kind of comparison to the nicotine from smoking analogs/using the patch versus vapor...

Nicotine concentrations in e-liquid are mg/ml. There is 18mg of nicotine in each ml in the bottle.

Nailing down amount of nicotine delivered and absorbed by the body from vapor is relatively unknown. There have been a few studies on different aspects of vapor and e-liquid. Do a few searches here and chew on some of this stuff for a while.

e-liquid strengh gives concentration of nicotine in mg/g, which corresponds to mg/ml (since density ~ 1 g/ml).

There is no easy and established way for direct comparison of nicotine delivery and nearly no hard data for ecigs. According to a first report, nicotine absorption rate from vapor is probably low, nicotine delivery by vaping appears to be not overly effective (see the referenced links for more info and some discussions).

Thanks - those links were helpful - I am trying to keep my nic intake reasonable, think I will try to stick to 11mg juices - the 18 and 24s start making me kinda freaky and whigged out like maybe over-stimulated i guess is the best way to describe it...

I got the usb at my desk and especially when im dealing with something stressful I am constantly puffing away - I should probably get rid of the USB and take a break to vape, would probably be healthier and easier to control my intake, (as well as being recommended that you get up and stretch, walk around when having a computer job)
