sorry i guess has been ask before, can you guy tell me when should i change my coil and if there is a maintenance routine that i can do to make it leave longer?

thanks
When I was using commercial e liquid my coil gunked up in a couple of days. I do DIY now and use the smallest amount of flavor possible. One of the benefits is my coils barely gunk up at all. Heavy flavoring and sweetners charmalise on the coil and wick. Reduce those and gunk is reduced. You can reduce the flavoring of commercial e liquid by diluting it with unflavored PG/VG/Nic. 25/75 usually works out fine and you're saving money.

I use a q-tip to twist down the bore of my 0.2 and 0.5 ohm vertical coils. Every couple tanks. Usually 2 cotton swabs is enough and the cotton comes out clean.

A small amount of cotton may need to be removed from the swab so it screws in/out without excessive force.

Never done clapton coils yet. Try it at your own risk. haha. Cheers.

I use rda's exclusively. One of the reasons is it is easy and fast to rebuild or rewick. My coils seem to last indefinitely but I like to rewick a couple times a week. When the coil is new and the wick is fresh there is a sizzle off the coil, meaning the liquid is being vaporized directly off the coil. That seems to give me better flavor and vapor quality. Even after 18 months I'm still learning so may be I'll have a different idea about what works best down the road. But I believe that most people who become life long vapes will eventually be rebuilding and doing DIY. Rebuilding is not hard after you've done a few and you won't need to do it very often if you are using liquid that doesn't gunk up the coil so fast.

Tanks are the rage because they are perceived as more convenient. I find mySV rda more convenient because of the ease and low cost of rebuilding and rewicking. Dripping 15-20 drops a dozen times a day takes 10 seconds each time.

Rda's are prone to leaking with pocket carry. I solved that with a 22mm x 12mm silicone slip ring from fasttech. The rda I favor has enough flat surface on the barrel to keep the ring in place when the air supply is covered or not covered. When it is covering the air supply there is no leaking. It is tight enough not to move in my pocket. My setup is below.

Your coil needs replaced if it gives a burnt taste or is not as airy a vape as it started out at, or it excessively floods and can't be corrected by tightening everything down. Sometimes you can extend the life of your coils by rinsing in hot water and then soaking in alcohol and rinsing well again, then let dry. I used to do this but the coils still would not last much longer. If the coil isn't burnt but you feel it clogged up, you can up your wattage a little at a time to increase the use. But if your cotton gets burnt taste, just toss it.
I like RDA's too but it takes practice to get a good vape on the little rba decks, so if you go that route, keep some spare pre-built coils on hand until you get your wicking down.;)
