I am concerned.
As the FDA makes its slow but inevitable journey towards outlawing/controlling Nicotine to the general public. At what point, should we vapors, consider stockpiling Nicotine? And if they do control it, what type of "end run" do you think will be an option. We know that Nicotine, in a sealed bottle, can last two years or more in the freezer.
What do you think?
What do you think we, as users should/can do?

I just read they plan to tax it at a rate of 5 cents per ml of nicotine. O no, not 5 cents per ml !!!!!!

I would stock up as soon as you can!!! We are doomed!!!

Damn so I guess I'll be paying $1.75 for 15ml of juice instead of $.99 now!

Still beats the hell out of smoking!

I assume you are talking just about your local state tax since the FDA regulations have not even been finalized yet.

I have fallen prey to the prior scares in vaping land. I will no longer buy anything in quantity. If a ban happens so be it. I will buy whatever it takes to curb my addiction in real time. If not, I will quit vaping and be done with it. Or go zero. I won't let fear control me.

Doomed?

Doomed to me is being diagnosed with a terminal illness, or being the victim of a terrible accident that leaves you brain-dead.

Giving up a behavior/dependency/habit/hobby is not really doom, to me anyway.

Overall, the FDA probably won't be able to shut it down. Tobacco is relatively easy to grow and the ultimate end around will be to grow it and then extract the nicotine yourself. DIY liquid may be the future, because, I don't see anyway to shut it down. As all of the ingredients are over the counter, and used in many industries. I honestly don't even see how they will be able to shut down the lab grade nicotine sales due to research.

There are many ways to combat these regulations. Analogs all required aging, blending, and multiple processes to make them the product we knew. E-liquid only needs the nicotine. Cheap all natural aged pipe tobacco is about $20 a pound. this will have some where around 800-3,500mg of nicotine if there is not a cheap and easy extraction process, I am sure some bored chemist will help us get it figured out. Basically the cat is out of the bag, and Big Tobacco will not be able to stop intelligent individuals if we wish to continue making affordable E-liquid that tastes good.

There is another way unspeakable here, just requires a decamp, goves, face shieldsuit and a contact in china. Its impractical to store 100 mg/ml juice takes up to mu space. I know its unspeakable and irresponsible to do so now, but at least start making the contacts in china now. At some point if we don't get set up for it we will be looking at 2 years of vaping max.

Rickajo,
I have been working in the FDA arena for over twenty years and I keep close contact with various vaping organizations, clinical studies and the politics. I am also aware of the "current intent" of the FDA and it will not bode well for us.
They regulate it in cigarettes and they will, (at some point in time) regulate it for vapors or restrict it all together.

Well... yeah. What's your point?

If someone believes the taxes on liquids are only going to five cents per milliliter they need to adjust their expectations in that arena as well. Try more like 5 cents per milligram of nic, per milliliter. Now run your numbers on a 30 ml bottle of 24 mg/ml nic and see what you get.
