When the other half still smokes...

Every time that I have attempted to quit smoking, I had to deal with my husband continuing to smoke. I'm sure you can relate. I'd do ok when I wasn't around him but as soon as I smelled the smoke on him and knew he had a pack of cigarettes I would cave in and smoke one and then another one and then I'd be buying my own pack.

Well this time is different. After only 6 days I think he stinks and the smell almost makes me sick. I don't have any desire to smoke one of his cigarettes.

Well now he is getting kind of interested in what I've got going on :vapor:. When I first got my PV, he tried it and ended up in a coughing fit. All I had received at that time was my menthol juice. He couldn't understand why I was "smoking that". Now that I have gotten some different flavored juices he has discovered he kind of likes the chocolate mint and he really likes the black cherry. Now he understands it's not just regular tobacco or menthol tobacco flavors. There is a whole new world of flavor out there!

I think if he would just vape for a day he would be hooked and maybe he would give up the cigarettes! I have an order coming from Sweet-Vapes in the next couple of days so maybe I can get him really interested in a flavor and then maybe he'll want me to order him his own PV and then maybe he will want to give up cigarettes.

I don't plan on picking up another cigarette again and if I can get him to quit, the extra $400+ a month would be a huge help to our budget!

Any tips for getting him to at least consider vaping instead of smoking would be greatly appreciated!

The pro's I've got on my list so far are:
  • lower cost,
  • suppresses my appetite,
  • already breathing better,
  • don't have to stand in the rain, snow or sweltering heat just to get my fix,
  • I don't have to run to the store late at night because I just realized I don't have any cigarettes and OMG I can't wake up in the morning and not have a smoke!,
  • taste buds are coming back to life and some things smell better.
What are some other positives that would peak my husband's interests?

Father's day is coming (if you have children), your man day is coming (if you don't have kids)...

Buy him his own PV.

I couldn't get my husband to get into vaping while I was the only one (even though, he could have used the other complete set in the starter kit I got). I guess, psychologically, it was mine.

I bought him his own (different color than mine. His / hers kind of deal) and he got a lot more interested.

I have to say that he is not a 100% vaper. Just at home. And that's just fine with me :)

Quiet-I think it may depend on his interests. If he likes social media, this forum can be a great motivator and a lot of fun. If he, like me, is into gadgets and tinkering, this is a spectacular hobby(although once you get into mods the budgetary relief is less, um, significant).

Oh, an no burn holes in the dress shirts--must have ruined 25 over the years..........

Best of luck!

You can sneak a vape in the stall of a public bathroom anywhere if you hold the vapor in your lungs longer then blow it into your chest. You can sneak a vape in anyone's bathroom. I also use a non-tobacco-smelling vape when I do that. No more having to feel like the family slime slipping outside at family events to have a smoke.

You don't stink anymore and your mouth breath doesn't smell like an ashtray

I'm wondering this myself..... the hubby was very interested in the e-cig. Thinks it "cool". I bought him his own when I bought mine. But.... he won't use it. He tells me he's afraid of it breaking and being stuck without a "smoke".
I've ordered a new unit today, maybe after it comes and he has more choices he'll go with it.

He will have to want to quit. Believe me, I was so impressed with how easy it was to stop smoking that I had to share this great find with all my smoking friends and only one ordered an e-cig. I guess it is just too easy to pull one out and light it up. At least my son switched to e-cigs, but he was wanting to quit. I wish you luck and have no good advice for you.

I can't believe I didn't think about this one! He can't just go out for a smoke when he wants to at work. But he can go to the bathroom!

Thanks!

Get him to agree you get an equal budget for vaping toys while he still smokes. Load up on cool mods while you can.

Don't push him or order anything for him until he asks for it, that never works. If he sees you not smoking when you have broken down in the past, he'll get very interested. ALso try to suppress the "you stink"s, remember what it was like to be a smoker. Everyone at their own pace and time, be patient.

Really nice smelling vapes like French Toast are worth a try and learn to blow huge VG vapor smoke rings and have that satisfied look on your face when you vape.

Congrats on your accomplishment

Don't forget driving down the highway and noticing the fire is missing from your analog. That's one NObody misses :)

Aha! He's a biker. It's about impossible to keep an analog lit while cruising down the road. With a PV he can vape at stop lights and traffic jams. He wouldn't have to light up an analog just to have the light turn green and waste it.

I quit the same day I bought my first small cheapo gas station ecig, then purchased a janty stick because the battery didnt last on the gas station brand. I also purchased one for my fiance, who smokes menthols, with the menthol version cartridges. I have not smoked one analog since, and have already bought several pv's to include the new revolution v2, a provape 1, and recently ordered a 18650 dual by Dan from jollyriffic mods. She however will still smoke analogs in varrying degrees due to enviromental factors such as work, home, drinking, etc. She states that the "taste" is what she misses. I for one do not miss the taste, and have a lot of new flavors to vape throughout the day... I found some juice online that is close to what she smokes, which has helped, however she still continues to smoke between 1 and 5 analogs a day. I can smell the smoke on her, and can taste it when I kiss her. I have been very supportive of her, and do not get on her for smoking analogs. I informed her that everyone is different, and that everyone will quit in their own way, and at their own pace. She is however, a little mad at me for the money that I have spent on my "toys", but understands that they are what I want to use to continue to be smoke free. I have paid for everything so far, in the effort to get us both smoke free. Be patient, and supportive of him, and continue to let him try different juices, he may just find his favorite in something you like to vape which would be a bonus on the expense....

No weight gain from quitting. He still gets the nic in his system.
No yellow teeth to whiten, no tobacco smelling fingers, no smoke in your eyes when you use both hands and exhale, car seats don't get spots, no panic attack when you drop an e cig in the car(I still swore and jumped the first time I dropped mine though), no lighters to lose or friends "borrow"...

I'm in a similar position as my fiance is still a smoker with no desire to quit. I think she is a little interested in the eCigs now that I have gone over 3 weeks without touching an analog but she will be a challenging convert.

Analogs are still cheap in Belize and there are not to many places where smoking is not permitted.

Even the 510 I'm using is too big in her opinion and she is a 2 pk a day smoker so I don't think a mini will be ideal for her anyway.

She doesn't like the weight of my 510.

She is generally resistant to any change in routine.

She definitely will not be interested in refilling anything (at least at first) and cartos can't be bought here in Belize which means either expensive shipping and customs charges or packing a boatload of cartos the 2 or 3 times a year she is in the US.

Any and all suggestions are welcome! So far I am thinking a k808 system with refillable cartos and plenty of batteries might be my best option as long as I can be around to refill for her when needed.

My girlfriend still smokes a pack a day and I sometimes have to pick up the ciggs on my way home... and amazingly it doesn't bother me..

I'll admit, there are times when I see like a half-cigarette burning in the ashtray and get that twinge of a craving.. then I just vape heh.. but I did an experiment, I actually tried a drag of a cig ( couldn't even inhale it really! ) ... it tasted so bad, and i've only been off of them for two weeks.
