There's a particular smoker at my college that HATES my vaping (for whatever reason, I think it is a jealously thing because I can vape anytime and not smell like smoke. She can't smoke on clinical days because you aren't allowed to smell like smoke when working around patients)

She even went as far as to tell the professor about it. However, since there is never any proof that I'm vaping there's nothing they can do.

She tells me constantly that "theres no proof that is better than smoking" "that is exactly like smoking, there is no difference" "I bet studies will show those are worse for your health than smoking"

Not once have I ever tried to force vaping on her. If she wants to keep smoking 2 packs a day, go for it. However, I can't stand her being such a hypocrite when she's sitting there smoking something that is PROVEN to KILL.

I ignore it. I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing. Better than the real deal.

One of my female managers asked me if vaping bothers my masculinity. I'm 50, 5-10, 200#, in decent physical shape.
I told her I'm better with the look of my eGo twist at my size than 80#, with lung cancer, at 60 look I was headed toward.
End of conversation.

This is the first I've heard that vaping was viewed as emasculating. Actually, to the contrary, it is far from that -- since smoking tends to clog the arteries which in turn is a major cause of erectile dysfunction.

Er, not to skirt (so to speak) forbidden topics here but...uh, yeah. Since vaping, there have been No Problems in That Particular Department. In fact, That Particular Department is...um...open for business...more often than before I quit smoking, and...uh...the sales people are willing to stay around a lot longer without complaining. And they get the job done...er...much better.

I don't think you should ignore it.

Don't get me wrong. I don't go about waving my eGo battery and thumping my e-juice bottle extolling the virtues of vaping. I'm actually pretty discreet about it all. But if somebody looks at me with those typical media-hyped, anti-tobacco eyes and criticizes my vaping habit with stupidity... well, they're in for a conversation they chose to initiate. And god help their sorry ... if they also smoke analogs and have the audacity to throw rocks from their glass perch.

I was the scum of the earth during my analog days. Made to feel like a drug addict lying in the gutter on skid row with strolling parents steering their children clear of me. Perhaps with some justification to be sure but I never bothered anyone and also had the wherewithal not to argue or defend my "addiction" and the means to feed it (tobacco). But now that I've finally listened to the sanctimonious .......s and stopped all carcinogens it's time they get it from the other end whenever something idiotic spews from their nicotine-free lips.

Unless Mrs. Kodiak is with me. Says I get too long-winded and just piss people off. It embarrasses her. :D

It is said to be one of the early indicators of heart disease so it sounds like quitting did you more good than just extending the hours in that department LOL Good for you!

I've tried, but she's too ignorant. Cuts me off, refuses to listen. Even when I state facts she wants to tell me I'm wrong. I feel like she literally would rather have me smoke analogs. When I smoked cigarettes, she never said a word about it. Never told me to quit, even let me bum them off her a few times. It was when I switched that all hell broke loose. Now she feels the need to be all anti about it when she has stated many times she smokes 2 packs a day.

It isn't like I just vape wherever I please. I vape while driving to school, at lunch ( I leave campus ), and on breaks. The school requires that I vape in the smoking area, which is fine, I just vape on the edge of it so that smokers aren't just blowing smoke on me. That's where the confrontation always happens. =P

If she's not somebody where ticking her off would be bad politics (it seems not if she cops that attitude with you), you might simply try looking her up and down and replying, "Sorry, I can't fix stupid. Go away."

Ahhhh... there is a thing that happens and it really is a thing. You've left the smoking subculture. You've become "one of them."

It doesn't matter to these folks how you leave the smoking culture, whether it's cold turkey, Chantix, patches, or switching to vaping. The problem is not that you are vaping at all or whether she believes them not to be safe and you can bet that she doesn't really think they small bad.

You are a traitor. This has happened to me with my smoking friends every time I've quit. Fortunately these days (mind you I am nearly half a century in age now), most of my former smoker friends are either not my friends, or they have quit too. You can't fix this situation, erazzz. All you can do is either listen to it, or simply smile and walk away when the conversation begins. Personally I would choose the latter.

None of my friends/family, except one, smoke (and those non-smokers aka ex-smokers can get pretty ugly, believe me). I gave my starter kit for Greensmoke, which I used for about a week, to the one friend who smokes. She is down to a few cigs a day from a 2 PAD habit. I haven't vaped around anyone yet, but on the day I was smoke-free for 30, I did tell my son that I'd quit smoking and was vaping. He was all interested, even though he's a non-smoker, because he has seen folks in bars in NYC with e-cigs. I had to explain that wasn't exactly what I was using. But he's onboard--anything that keeps me from smoking is fine by him.

The irony to this is the first time I ever saw an eGo, I was smoking and saying the same stuff to that guy. Little did I know at that time is he is the one that brought me to using an e-cig to quit smoking. Some times you have to say nothing to get your point across. I have several guys at my work that have ditched the analogs and vape exclusively! The boss says we are the e-cig posse! Funny how things change.....

Wandered out to the smoking area at work last week to Vape (don't want to be the one to test a policy they haven't set yet) and when I pulled out my mod half the smokers there pulled out their setups. Still chuckled that they had them in their pockets and analogs in their mouths....but at least they are trying.....

I get the same thing from my 2 PAD neighbor! He say "you're using that thing waaay more than you used to smoke". Trying to explain that I can take a couple of hits then put it down and pick it up again later does no good. I don't understand why smokers feel the need to ridicule. I choose to vape, that shouldn't make him feel threatened.

What I really love is when I mention that I quit smoking, and am vaping instead, and the reply is "oh, well, then you didn't REALLY quit"! Like if you're not trembling and sweating thru withdrawal, then it doesn't count. These same people would applaud my decision if I stuck patches on, or constantly chewed nicotine gum!

I'm quite happy to go outside with the smokers at work, since i can vape all day at work anywhere i like. Some of them like the smell of the liquid i use, but they are all impressed with the cost savings compared to cigarettes.

They have become used to it thru familiarity seeing me walk around all day vaping and a few of them have switched too. I make no judgement on their continued smoking since i smoked for 30 years myself. I am in it to please myself is all, and really don't care what other people think.

Stealth vaping has become a habit of mine in the office, just to avoid the (and there's always one) person going into a faux coughing fit/asthma attack about it. The fact is that i am a guinea pig for the things we use now and i'm sure the true test will be how many of those that still smoke i outlive!
