where are all the box mods?

Hey all,
I'm the worlds worst procrastinator, but we can talk about that later, and i keep telling myself I'm going to make my own box mod, but lets just face the fact that its never going to happen...working a full time job, 4 kids, and a holster company on the side, I'm lucky to find time to build a good coil, much less a mod...so, where do i buy one?...ive googled the poop out of the internet box and come up with very little..a lot of guys making some sick looking mods for their personal use, and a few companies producing stuff for the masses, but where are all the small businessmen and women making mods in their basement's selling them for a modest profit?...anyone have a list of websites where they can be found?...

Hiding up a tree
A while ago (probably 18months) I felt the urge to make my own VV mod, I had seen a load of tutorials and managed to find myself a circuit diagram, I got all the parts and set to work...

This was my creation:
mod.jpg

I fancied making something a bit different (to say the least). The right arm controls the voltage, the eye is the firing button (it lights up), the belly is the display (switch between remaining battery & current voltage display). I was going to do some kind of 'Mechzilla' paint job on it...

That was until the crappy wires on the battery connector broke, while fixing that other parts started to become dislodged (due to it being about 10 years since I had last soldered) and I finally threw in the towel when the head fell off.

I did learn a fair bit, but the most important thing that I learnt was to leave the building to a professional, or at least someone with some skill (and probably smaller hands).

Anyway, I found this list of boxmods, not sure about quality or anything, but it may be what you are looking for: Battery Box e-Cig Mods | e-Cigarette Mods Database

im a bit confused about box mods like these...you cant control the wattage on these say like in a dna 20/30 mod, right?....i was under the impression that you get the best taste and vapor production by going with a big (surface area wise) coil, 1 to 1.5 ohm resistance, and cranking up the wattage...with something like this, and correct me if i am wrong, how is it any different than my Ke Cig K100?...

Its a bottom feeding box mod. You squeeze the bottle to feed juice into the atomizer, instead of dripping into it. If youre looking for regulated, you can buy a clone dna30 from a store such as vaortekusa or find a retailer that sells real ones.

im kind of looking for a real one..ive seen a bunch of clones and have heard both good and bad things about them..i haven't heard bad things about the real ones so I'm willing to pay for the skilled labor...

There was a VV Reo Grand that uses the Notcigs chip. As I recall that's a 15 watt design. They are no longer in production but do show up in the ECF classifieds on occasion.

That is being replaced by a standard Grand that will be designed to work with drop in Kick boards. Kick in: It's a VW box that will work within the limits of the Kick you choose. Kick out: It's an unregulated box that can handle really low sub ohm devices.

The beauty of the Reo is: The feed system eliminates the hassles associated with dripping. If anything, it improves the experience because you aren't cooking a pool of liquid standing inside a conventional RDA every time you fire it. Rob has been in business for a long time, ain't going anywhere, and any replacement part you would ever need is readily available.

How about build it yourself still in less than an hour from begin to finish and have a fully awesome complete mod..

$20.43 DIY Enclosure Case for HANA MODZ Pack DNA 30 Style Mod - 1*18650 / aluminum / green at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
From there either get a clone or the real evolv dna20/30

with a hot glue gun I could have this built and vaping in ~10mins..
Im drinking while building it so 10mins is safe figure..

i would have a slightly scratched but severely distorted box partially embedded in my wall and several beer cans hot glued to my bald head...i would probably even eat the dan chip and write a review comparing it to lays brand chips...i can take flat leather and turn it into anything you want, but i cant solder so well and i just don't understand how to attach all that stuff...id have the only mod with staples and brads holding everything together...

A DNA 20 is not a mod but a VV / VW circuit. It is limited to 20 watts. A mechanical system at 4.2 volts fully charged can easily achieve 20+ watts by building in the .6-1.0 ohm range with 26-28 gauge wire. If you want huge surface area and power you are not going to beat a basic mechanical setup with a rugged battery. In my opinion adding any circuitry is just adding another spot to break.

the more i read about ohms law and mech mods, the more i see myself leaning toward your way of thinking...my coils are around .3-.5 range most of the time, so I'm hitting around 32 watts anyway, so i don't see an advantage with the chip sets...unless it would allow me to take a 1 ohm coil and push it at 30 watts...i would imagine that doing it that way would drain a battery pretty quickly though...

i think i want a woodvil if i were going to go the reos route...those things are sweet looking...as a leatherworker and custom holster maker, i really appreciate craftsmanship ad artistry in a product..
In my opinion, even sweeter: PDIB's Making MODs!.

BTW, you have some nice looking holsters on your site!
