I actually ordered a small bottle of worcestershire in my last tpa order. Got it in today and it smells *exactly* like the sauce! I, too, have been wishing for something salty, and while I haven't mixed any of this up yet, I wonder why there isn't some additive sold that would give a salty flavor. Ever make a batch of chocolate chip cookies that tasted kind... flat? Chances are you left out the salt. I agree something like that would take things to the next level. While I doubt the worcestershire is the answer, it certainly *smells* salty lol. OK, I just tasted some, and... it's weird. It seems salty, yet not salty at the same time. That is, I can't tell if my brain is telling me it's salty because I associate the flavor with salt, or if I'm actually tasting salt. Tasted some more (the things I do... this stuff is fairly gross straight) and I'm fairly certain it's not salty.

i have detected salty notes in many vapes. its usually either peanut or butter. both give the salty sensation. buttered popcorn vapes come to mind, many waffle vapes have butter. butter rum has butter. many 555s use peanut as one of the nuts in their nut blend. then youve got the peanut butter vapes (candy bar, cookie, etc) but those tend to be more sweet than salty, but hey. and then if you really want to go nuts with salt go try out the baby back ribs vape and come back here to tell us how it was! :D

Guys, cigarettes contain sodium acetate, benzoate, bicarbonate, carbonate, chloride, citrate, and hydroxide. That's a lot of salt, so yes, cigarettes are salty. It may not seem obvious, but that's because they're a melange of endless flavor and chemical additives. You wouldn't exactly say a cigarette is sweet, either, but it's been well-documented in recent years that they contain enough to pose a risk for diabetics.

E-juices lack sodium, and if a negligible amount for flavor would threaten one's health, then table salt would have killed us years ago. It's the missing link here, almost like that elusive fifth taste, umami. So, I've heard rumors that certain vendors' buttered popcorn flavor, for example, tastes salty. Can anyone tell me what additive is being used to impart this perceived saltiness? If salt would bring more negative press to vaping, are there any harmless additives that could be utilized to give us juice with a little more depth?

i hear that the flavor research gets nuts. rumor has it that mcdonalds engineers all their tastes in a lab to create maximum overload by your brain. of course these are all strickly scientific terms i am using :p

Fascinating article --thanks. (Yes, I am a geek.)

It's also a perfect example of the kind of flavor industry research that I mentioned above. :)

Stuart Mackenzie: Well, it's a well known fact, Sonny Jim, that there's a secret society of the five wealthiest people in the world, known as The Pentavirate, who run everything in the world, including the newspapers, and meet tri-annually at a secret country mansion in Colorado, known as The Meadows.

Tony Giardino: So who's in this Pentavirate?

Stuart Mackenzie: The Queen, The Vatican, The Gettys, The Rothschilds, *and* Colonel Sanders before he went [forum censored t-breast word] up. Oh, I hated the Colonel with is wee *beady* eyes, and that smug look on his face. "Oh, you're gonna buy my chicken! Ohhhhh!"

Charlie Mackenzie: Dad, how can you hate "The Colonel"?

Stuart Mackenzie: Because he puts an addictive chemical in his chicken that makes ya crave it fortnightly, smartass!

NaCl would enter the atty suspended in the liquid, then when the liquid was driven off it would crystallize on the atty. So, if you did vape some salt, you wouldn't do it for long before you ruined the atty.

Unless the NaCl becomes a solute within the PG/VG solution. Vaporization is not equal to distillation, and therefore I am unsure of exactly what would happen.
PG/VG molecules when vaporized are actually still quite large, and would be able to hold a lot of particles.

Why don't menthol crystals stick on to attys? Menthol solution is simply a stereoisomer of natural menthol mixed with water.
Menthol is, however, an organic molecule... so there might be a difference when vaping an ionic compound, such as NaCl.

Salt deposits on the atty would be, at best, a guess.

Edit: Maybe I'm completely wrong and completely over thinking it but... this is just my two cents after a few years of experience in organic chemistry.

This topic caught my attention because, although I classified the taste as more bitter than salty, it describes the flavor note that finally ended smoking for me.

Water razzle from FSUSA. It's actually kind of bland and unremarkable as flavors go. As the name implies, it's supposed to be a watermelon and raspberry mix. When I use a eGo Type B mega atty/cart (preferred for this juice), it tastes more like unsweet iced tea. In a tank the fruit flavors are more noticeable. So maybe the cart stuffing mutes it just right. I dunno. It's best after about a week. When fresh you can barely taste any fruit. A 120ml bottle lasts about 6 weeks so I can't comment on longevity with this one LOL.

Regardless, it gives me a flavor and sensation that is like a weak version of a Camel filter to me. Satisfying without the kick in the chest and lung butter that the real one adds. It's one of two juices I've ever used to really have that slightly bitter taste that is what makes this my main vape.

The other is Cool Lick also from FSUSA. I saw it while browsing and the good & plenty picture compelled me to try a small bottle. It was gone in a week. The main flavor is black licorice, not something that appeals to many. It has a mint in it too. Tastes just like the candy and has that bitter note to it, just not as prominent as the water razzle. It's too strong and minty for an all-day vape, but is a nice alternate when I burn out on the other.

Re: a guess. A pretty good guess. Real good.

I'm just saying... does leaving a coin in some salt water leave salt deposits on the coin?

Might be a bad example, but as long as the solution isn't saturated with salt I am fairly sure that it would leave within the vapor.:3
