I really need to give up smoking but am struggling! I tried the Clear Smoke e-cig last year. It ended up only costing me a fiver but I really, really dislike the taste so stopped using it after a while. I have tried my friend's who has a VIP one and, while I did much prefer the vaping sensation on this compared to the Clear Smoke, the tobacco flavour she has, to me, didn't taste even remotely similar. Her friend - who has been using e-cigs for a while now - said that she didn't have it on the right setting or something. I have no idea because I'm new to this.

I just want a recommendation for a good e-cigarette that tastes as close as you can get to the real thing? Thanks!

Hello @susan_1981. I didn't have any luck with the cig a like style of e cigs. As far as I know there aren't many flavors close to the real flavor and taste of a cig but everyone tastes differently. I would suggest going to a local vape shop and sampling the flavors to see if there is anything you enjoy. As to gear I would highly recommend an iStick 30 watt and Aspire nautilus Mini for excellent quitting gear.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to go to Bluewater. I think they have a shop there that sells them and possible some stalls. I just remember one time walking out of London Bridge Station and they had a stall there selling them. This was absolutely years ago, probably around 2011. I remember the man asking if I'd like to try it and I was absolutely amazed at how much like a cigarette it tasted... but then I did also have the real thing in my other hand at the time so perhaps this was why.

I'll give some a try hopefully and then decide what I like best. I'm just not keen on the fruity flavoured ones because they make me feel a bit sick.

May get into a slight hint of trouble for it but none the less found it to work for myself. Look for M-Type ejuice flavor. Ask for say around 10% if you've someone to mix it up for you. I would suggest about 6% nicotine. The M-Type flavor will remind you of filthy ashtrays.

I'm suggesting this because it was what broke me of having a craving to start. Last month I finally managed a full month without any cigarettes. I had been nabbing a few here and there up until then, while vaping. The M-Type though did let me get two weeks in without thinking I would go back fully to cigarettes. If I would not have gotten a fortnight, back to cigarettes in full for me.

Now, I'm content to vape only. It has been two years in. I no longer want any tobacco flavors. I use Hawk Sauce which is a mix of berries with a hint of menthol, or a recent favorite Whiskey Bent which I'm told the gent draws out of aged whiskey casks and mixes with a little bourbon. No reason for doubting that as the taste for me at least seems to be what is said. Wife enjoys the scent of it so that's a plus.

It'll take a little but you can quit cigarettes. Be patient with yourself and with the gear. Learn it good and it'll treat you good.

If you really want the taste of smoke then you are out of luck. Flavourings can try and mimic the overall experience of smoking but nothing tastes like burning leaves except burning leaves.
Ask yourself this - what does your cigarette actually taste off ? To me it's ash and toxic stink !!
You are going to have to change your expectations. Don't think of e-cigs are substitutes for cigarettes but as an alternative.
After 4 years of vaping i have not found a single disposable device that comes close to satisfying me...
My advice would be to skip the cigalike route and invest a modest amount in a refillable eGo type set up or a small variable wattage device (like an istick 20/30) and a good clearomiser. That way you can experiment with totally different flavours. Menthol gives a throat hit like smoking.
After vaping for a few months you will come to realise just how awful cigarette smoke really tastes.

I agree with ppeeble, I was never able to find a flavor quite like smoking, tried several different ones. Once I started finding flavors I enjoyed, I eventually lost my taste for tobacco flavors. I haven't had a cig in 20 months. Try flavors you enjoy, I did well with strawberry and apple flavors, and cereal vapes. good luck!

If you're going to REFUSE to move-up to Ego sized devices, and if you simply REFUSE to CONSIDER using a MOD sized device. (I speak for the ECF community, when I suggest you skip the BS and move-up to a MOD-SIZED APV (advanced personal vaporizer) well then- I can only recommend so-much.

if you MUST use a cigarette look-alike, then I suggest you go with a KR808-d model. The KR808-d cig-alike has a FIXED-voltage of 4.2 volts. This basically means that your battery would-not drain over-time until it reached 3.2 volts (3.2v is dead - time to recharge), rather, it would stay (regulated) at 4.2 volts until dead, & time to recharge. NOW then- If you MUST go-with a cig-alike, the KR808-d is your best bet, because the cig-alikes that are NOT regulated to output a constant 4.2 volts, are simply NOT powerful enough, in my opinion, to satisfy someone looking for an experience close-to smoking an actual cigarette.

You have TWO clear options when it comes to a KR808-d type cig-alike. The Bloog Max-Fusion, and the AltSmoke VOLT. Of the two, my personal preference is the Altsmoke VOLT, and I personally own 2 of them. They will STAY at 4.2 volts, giving u a consistent vape until time to recharge. (rather than the vape becoming increasingly less nd less powerful as the battery discharges, like with MOST cig-alike kits) NOW THEN- I suggest you get at-least TWO Volt batteries (the KIT that COMES w/2 batts would-be best) In the kit, you get x2 batteries, a charger, cartomizers/clearomizers, and a bottle of juice. I highly recommend this option, although, I would also recommend you grab a 3rd spare VOLT battery for backup.

IF you are WILLING to move to the EGO sized batteries, you can find GOOD ego-style batteries on the ALTSMOKE website as-well. The EGO batts on the Altsmoke website are known as K-GO's elseware. (If they haven't changed, and if I'm not mistaken... I THINK Altsmoke eGo size batts have what I am about to speak-of) The altsmoke ego sized batts are ALSO regulated to stay at 4.2 volts (like the Kgo, sold else-ware) Now, the eGo battery is going to keep a charge a LOT longer than the cig-alike batteries... So, i would go for these, if you absolutely MUST avoid the mod-sized vaporizer. :( But, ultimately, the BEST chance of ENJOYING your vaping experience, is to go for the gold, and move strait to a MOD (aka- APV, or: Advanced Personal Vaporizer)

Now-then, if you are willing to go-with a mod, you have a few great options on the market today. Google for something called the EVIC VTC MINI- It will completely & totally satisfy you in every way possible, and the kit comes with EVERYTHING you need to enjoy vaping (except for two 18650 batteries, wall-wart, and the juice!) You'd just have-to purchase the Evic Mini, wall-adapter, and two 18650 batteries, and a bottle of juice. The mod will charge the batteries when you plug it into a wall adapter (sold separately) Alternative to the wall-adapter, you could technically charge by PC USB port (though this is not recommended, as it takes much longer than wall adapter or external battery charger) Alternatively, you can charge the batteries in an external battery charger, which can be had for as cheap as 5 to 10 bucks. ;)

Evic VTC Mini + AC Wall Adapter + two AW IMR 18650 batteries + Juice!

Alternative to the EVIC VTC MINI (having to buy batteries and charger separately) you COULD google for the Ego ONE Mega Kit. This is an all-in-one kit. It will come with the mod (w/ internal battery) the tank that holds and vaporizes your e-juice, and it comes with everything you need to begin vaping today! I highly recommend this kit to those looking for their very 1st mod. :)

I HOPE I haven't been WAY too confusing, and WAY WAY WAAAY too long-winded. (or... long-texted, lol)

Please, feel free to ask anything u need to ask, & most importantly of all, ENJOY your vaping journey!!

PS. If you're looking for a good e-liquid that replicates true tobacco, true cigarettes, I've found nothing that comes closer than backwoodsbrew BACKO. I usually do-not share this secret openly on the forum, but I made an exception for you, because I know the struggle to find a good e-liquid. I've been around for 7 years now, and nothing has come more-close, than BWB Backo.

Goodluck & Good Vapes.

Haha do you? That feels like forever ago. I'm just a proper addict when it comes to smoking and will always find an excuse to start again but this time when I give up, it has to be forever. I stopped looking for an e-cig in the end and just carried on smoking.

With the Clearsmoke, I didn't end up having to pay any extra for it. When I cancelled, they ended up going down to a really low price - (I'm thinking £12) and I would also get a free set of refills (or whatever they call it) but my card wouldn't go through (no idea why, I had no problems with that card). So I didn't bother sending it back. But I just don't like it. I hate the flavour and, compared to my friend's e-cig (the VIP one) and my other friend who has a different brand which looks similar, it just isn't going to do it for me. Theirs feels a lot cleaner, a lot fresher if you know what I mean.

I think I'm just going to have to shop around and see what I can find. My brother's mother-in-law used to smoke close to 60 fags a day for probably more than 40 years, got lung cancer and obviously was advised to give up. She switched to the e-cigs - pretty sure e-lites - so I'm just telling myself that if she can do it, then I can do it. Then the woman over the road from me died over Christmas from lung cancer and she was only in her 60s, the same age as my mum. I need to do this!

Honestly if you keep chasing the smokes flavor you're going spend alot of money and never really get there. If you accept e-cigs for what they are and look for flavors that match your flavor profile you'll be alot more successful at not only quitting but finding something much better.

But this is my problem. I don't know how similar e-cigs are to shisha pipes but I remember trying a few of those in Egypt and it just made me feel really sick. I want to just go to a shop or one of those stalls that seem to be popping up all over the place and try them - I'm sure most let you try before you buy - then decide. My friend has a menthol one and that definitely gives you the smoking "hit" but obviously not the same flavour.

As others have said and know from personal experience , if you really want to beat smoking you really must get something far more capable than cigalikes , if i stayed with them i would still be smoking for sure .

The first time i switched to what people recommended my cigarette smoking days were gone for good , do yourself a favor , listen to what people are telling you because they know and at this point you do not .

You will save yourself a lot of time and money by taking their advice and skipping the cigalikes.
