Uh-huh. They treated the first petition, as PlaceboEffect puts it, "with utter contempt." That was back when you only needed 5,000 signatures; and right after we got ours submitted, they raised the required number of signatures by a factor of 5 to 25,000.
Guess they saw us coming again and decided to raise the stakes, but this time "only" by a factor of 4.
Upon hearing that they raised the threshold again, Carl Phillips quipped, "I guess that is to relieve themselves of the burden of having to ignore so many things."
I agree, they don't actually do anything with the petitions. They just answer them like you or I would. We petitioned to have Obama impeached for lying to us about the Benghazi attack and all we got back was this long drawn out response that basically said no. It also said he loved his country and blah blah. Nothing that really had anything to do with what the petition said.
