When I saw this, I thought of any number of posts I've seen recently, where folks are like "I vape 90%-100% VG with a .4 ohm coil, but no, I don't cloud chase." I've wanted to say, so many times "DON'T BE DISINGENUOUS" but I fear they don't know that word. If someone's vaping that much VG on a coil with resistance that low, they might not be CHASING them, but they sure are BLOWING them.

I have thought a good number of times lately that people were not in agreement on the definition of 'cloud chasing'. Andria, I'm in no way calling you out here, your post just brought this home to me.

I vape at 0.4-0.5 ohms with 70% VG all the time. I've done it with 90% VG while I was experimenting with DIY recipes and I can assure you my setup at 90% VG is not even close to a cloud chasing setup. Yes, my vapor production is good, but nowhere near maxed out. I suspect I could get four times the cloud I'm producing now if I put my mind to it.

Could chasing is also much more than just max VG and max power (which is had at significantly less than 0.4 ohms on a mechanical mod), though if you want to be competitive you probably have to have both in your corner. I also think coil builds, wicking, choice of hardware and vaping technique are also critical.

If one is not interested in clouds perhaps a Nicorette Inhaler is for you and bans would not matter. LOL

I asked my doctor about the Nicorette inhaler. He cannot legally prescribe it to me, because I have asthma. Which leaves vaping, and no, I don't like "clouds", because I have asthma. I blow out vapor approximately equal to what I blew out as smoke when I was smoking, and it's a hell of a lot better for my poor lungs than smoking ever was. Taste a lot better than smoke, too, and no doubt a GREAT deal better than those stupid inhalers.

hehehe it is still a cloud. I don't sub ohm but still like a nice cloud.

You're probably right; it just seems like a really thick cloud to me, since I'm accustomed to my high-PG vapor, which is only about equal to the amount of smoke I exhaled as a smoker, and dissipates VERY rapidly -- by the time I finish exhaling, the vapor is *almost* entirely gone.

Quite correct. A lot goes into it. Its a constant battle trying to get it juuuuussst right. Builds not so much really. Its just parallels nowadays. Wicking and technique are very important. hardware as well but thats a lot easier. A well designed copper mod. You left out the RDA and air flow :p.

Wicking is down right annoying. too thin and vapor sucks. Too thick and vapor sucks. Gotta be like goldie locks and get just right. I hate wicking so much.

Well, it's nice to hear from someone who I think actually does it that I'm not totally off track here :thumb:.

I've considered it before but never done anything about it. This time is different. I'm going to try this cloud chasing thing just to see what it's all about.

Off to start researching.

Not off track at all. GL and be safe. And yes I do. Be prepared to fall down a rabbit hole. I actually have 18ga wire that I have built with.

20ga nichrome now.

Mutation X there^. Video was an IGO W. Careful on too much airflow BTW. Loose density of the vape.

Oh and thats a juice burn on my finger..... Do not go to 1/8th holes. Multiple smaller ones kinda prevent scalding juice on your finger....

Thanks for the advice DaPopeLP :). I think I'll be pretty safe with batteries and discharge levels. What I'm going to have to explore will be how to get the most from the builds I make and the hardware choices out there.

I ordered 24 gauge Kanthal today before I started on this quest. Now I think I'll order some lower gauge also. Maybe I can still combine shipping.

ETA: Nope, it's already shipped so I'll have to either order some thicker Kanthal or twist thinner wire if I want a thicker medium.

I'm very well aware of the act that the op thought he/she was referring to. It is NOT the "Obama" tobacco blah blah law, and it wasn't passed in 1999.

No it wasn't 15 years ago. It was 2009. The OP said it was 1999, and was incorrect on the date.

Mr. Obama did sign the bill, btw. it's not uncommon for legislation to carry titles of the signing President years later, whether or not they had any real influence on the bill or not.

It initially looked to me like you were saying that since the bill was 15 years ago it was irrelevant and/or a bill that old couldn't affect e-cigs.

I'm glad to hear that is not the case.

I've wondered for a while what your sig meant six and finally input it into a morse code decoder.

There was a thread a few weeks ago where a fellow said he couldn't see his screen through his vapor and wanted folks to communicate with him in brail. I suggested morse would be more appropriate. I decided to keep it as my sig...

I should update it, I suppose. I've switched to unflavored 100% VG from Xtreme. I spent 2 1/2 years on AVE 555 and decided it was time for a change in how much I spend. It worked out....

I run a 1.2 ohm coil on an RM2. Nothing fancy and nothing super low... and my sig will probably need further updating because I got an RM3 Friday and set it up with a pair of 1.4 ohm coils for a .7 net. It's a little on the warm side for me, so when it needs a rebuild, I'll probably wrap a pair of 1.8. I think I'll probably run it in favor of the RM2... but the jury is still out. I flavor tested it with a little bit of my 555 stash and it is as good or maybe even better than the RM2, but it's no where near as easy to build.
