Since OSDIY is one of my favorite suppliers I Pmd her to ask about why she uses Amazon and this was her response (I have her permission to post this here) :
The reason we use amazon is for our customers safety! Just yesterday I had a customer contact me about credit card fraud he was dealing with and I went over why we use amazon.
Amazon has been doing transactions longer then most on the internet and knows their business and safety
The credit card information stored on amazon is never transmitted, it stays on their site so less chance of a hacker getting a hold of it.
We do not ever see anything but a payment confirmation, so no sensitive information can get hacked
We have a business account there, it costs us more then a merchant account would but there is tons more security.
We have been using them for over two years, sure I could save a few pennies with a merchant account, I have one available to me if there is ever an issue with Amazon but the cost compared to my customers safety is not worth it.
