Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
No midlife crisis, that's how I've always been.

A midlife crisis implies a change in my lifestyle, but that's never changed. I've always been this way. My wife has been with me for over 20 years and has finally decided that I'm never growing up. I've been rock climbing, racing, playing video games, playing loud music and all of the rest the entire time. That's just me being me.

Me in another 35 years....

I never considered a midlife crisis a change in your lifestyle , it's a change in your thinking but life stays the same for me at least .

Hopefully you can remain like a kid like that for another 35 years but i have not seen anybody do it successfully yet , some are much much more opposed to accepting aging and the changes it naturally brings with it than others though.

I thought just like you until i hit about 48 , 49 then my interest (as shocking as it was for me) changed and that blew me away because my interests were what i lived for and shaped my identity but those change as well sorry to say.

Just part of aging , some hang on to their youth longer than others but it will fade , enjoy it while it lasts though.

The turning point in my life was when I realized I was no longer invincible.
That was the day that changed just about everything.

For me, it happened on a ski slope.

But the concept of my mortality was, for me, irreparably reinforced...
The day I screwed up my back for months by simply bending over to pick something up.

Hey, what a fun thread!

Despite my screen name, I already know I'm far from being the oldest here or even in the top 20 or more. But in fairness, I picked the name early in my vaping experience and before I realized how many "golden years" vapers there actually were. So here ya go.......

66 years, 6 months, and 14 days. Old enough I can't remember or figure out the hours.
I have you beat. I am 66 years, 6 months and 15 days!!!

I've noticed that, but consider it a sign that you are wise beyond your years.

Wise maybe, cranky yes. As I've gotten older my appreciation of the truly important things in life has come into sharp focus, but my tolerance for all the rest of the BS that comes along with it has decreased to zero.

DC2, my hubbs in his very early 30's threw his back out with a sneeze. That involved weeks and weeks of recuperation, particular exercise and medication. Knowing this, we went on a CO ski trip with two other couples when he was 46 yrs. His first time on skis and at altitude. Took a day to get over altitude sickness and the rest of the wk's stay to learn to snow plow, but he didn't hurt his back at all although provided the rest of us with hillarous entertainment. I swear some of his face plants were right out of the movies and the ski life guys were taking bets on him getting off the lift without falling.

The only reason why we stopped going was because MY knees wouldn't hold up all day skiing anymore. He was 52. :)
