"The World Health Organization is arguing that electronic cigarettes should be banned because their use "normalizes" smoking and that a ban on these products would result in the "de-normalization" of smoking.

It should be noted that the WHO's advice on electronic cigarettes has a significant influence on many countries' regulatory decisions on electronic cigarettes. For example, Qatar recently announced a ban on electronic cigarettes and cited the WHO's recommendations as a major factor in its decision."

Personally, I don't know of anyone who ever started smoking because they saw someone vaping. I do know of several, however, who are thankful for the chance to vape, because it is the only way they were able to quit the stinkies.

Yes I have read it at Dr-Siegel's blog and commented on it.

I must say that I am apalled by WHO's audacity to be so blatantly wrong.
If they succeed to make my government impose that ban, I am not going to be a law-abiding citizen I've been all my life. I'm going to become a part of the black market, whether as only consumer or as both consumer and supplier. Because if my government decides to act criminally, I will oppose the criminals and stand up for my own rights.

As a matter of fact, all these bans, attempts to ban and smearing campaigns already have had a considerable influence and it can be clearly seen anywhere.
This evening I came accross a reputable article site. I am not going to name them, because they don't deserve it. Here is what I found in editorial guidelines

3• Any content that promotes or encourages the use of tobacco or tobacco related products is prohibited.
Examples of prohibited tobacco or tobacco related products include:
• Cigarettes, cigars, tobacco, tobacco alternatives (such as kretek and cloves)
• The description or promotion of any inhalant paraphernalia such as pipes, hookahs, shisha pipes, water pipes, bongs, rolling paper, or vaporizer
Article content or links that promote or describe the use of electronic cigarettes

SO, you are not even allowed to describe electronic cigarettes, whereas others can both describe and promote their or someone ese's products.

Now this bit invites comment:

OK, so when the WHO points out that Qatar sounds like catarrh and insists they change the name of their country, will they comply?

Yep, I've been given that argument recently against my vaping from people where I work. :glare: They came out and said, it doesnt matter to them if my ecigs are a health danger or not, they "look" like I'm smoking so they dont want me vaping :( In my case I guess its the only argument they could come up with when they tried to tell me that the second hand nicotine in my ecigs was dangerous and I told them there was NO nicotine in my ecig as I vaped zero nicotine. ;) And by the way, this wasnt about vaping inside the building, this was for vaping outside in the parking lot. 8-o

Unfortunately ...
Many consider those who smoke AND those who switched to vaping
as SUB-HUMANS ... Proof: "You're Nothing but a Smoker"

Edit:
Actually, BP and the FDA has the same attitude.
Smokers are just a commodity (cash cows)
They know the general public's attitude regarding smokers.
If some die ... No big deal ... They're just smokers

This sounds like you and I work at the same facility. Unfortunately, too many NY employers have that opinion. It is an interesting place to live, isn't it?

Well, then, it appears that their "Demonization of Smokers" campaign is working.
