Great job Switched! I have to echo some that have stated what an important role you've played in their vaping experience. I was so fortunate to have found Ikenvape so early in my vaping experience (one week). Isaac, yourself, and a few others have consistently provided detailed, thorough, and concise advice for me and countless others. You and Isaac are a great pair on this forum because you're both insanely responsive and bring kindness and thoughtfulness with your advice. I am totally aware how new I am to this, but you guys never make me feel like a "noob". In recovery from addiction, experts say that helping others who are suffering from the same shortcoming will aid in your recovery. I believe this is why you all are so successful with your recovery from tobacco.

Thank you and more importantly CONGRATULATIONS!

Congrats Switched! Good to hear that you have enjoyed your anniversary which gives me something to shoot for. Have to thank you for all the help you have passed along to all the members on ECF and myself included. Not just the one on one through the threads, but also the many articles you have written and put your time into to help others make their vapeing smoother.

Congrats, good luck and best wishes on the way to your next one.

Wow  what can I say...

It is easy assisting folks that play an integral role in their own development. It is a zoo sometimes out there, but I never found it here. We had some pleasant exchanges since last summer with some mighty fine folks. I wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't for the fine folks who congregate here.

It is funny how your last sentence rings true. Yes in helping others it helped me remain focused on what was important, remaining smoke free. Just like any other addiction it is one day at a time. I am glad I was able to help folks in beating their addiction, or at least keep it under control, because yes, you folks have helped me tremendously in reaching my milestone.

In doing so, I would be remiss if I didn't extend a hearty well done to my wonderful wife who stood by me during these trying times, because there were some trying times indeed. Not being a smoker herself, she could only fathom what I was going through.

For the many that have found success in fighting this addiction, I wish you all continued success and keep up the good fight. It only gets easier as each day goes by.

Who would've thought is right!

A BIG milestone I think we both have our sights on is the zero nic milestone. Congrats again on your 1 year smoke free mark and keep on truckin!

My plan is to reach it, get there by the end of year 2. I am down to 16mg from 30mg. So it may be doable but I am not setting up for failure. If I am around 2-6mg I'll be happy. The 6mg being a fix of course.

How are you making out? Any long term side effects from SNUs manifesting themselves during re-entry?

Snus is my emergency "fix" these days. I dropped my nic level down to 6 (from 12) not too long ago and found myself vaping considerably more as a result. I'm easing up on the volume, but it's a gradual process. But every now and then... i just go for a snus packet when the fiend raises its ugly head. Not often, like once a week for the last few weeks. Snus is very effective (too effective)!

I'm in no rush to get to zero and don't have any set dates in mind. I'm just gonna hang at 6 for a while and when I feel easily satiated at that level... that's when I'll think about the next step down to take.

Yup! I hear you VM. Although I have set a target, it is indeed the satiated level that will dictate progress. I had planned on going down to 12mg from 18mg. To me that was too big a step and will settle in around 14-16mg I think. 30 to 24 to 18 was a big jump.

Wrt SNUs I was more interested in the other alkaloids contained within (MAOIs etc... on top of nic) making cessation even harder. But we are all different and that is cool as well. As you may know I am a proponent of the 10-12 week cleansing of MAOIs to successfully settle in towards cessation and eventually towards total abstinence.

For folks reading this and wondering...

It is my opinion that nicotine in itself is only mildly addictive when compared to the rest of the cocktail contained in tobacco related products. Some have greater concentrations than others, cigarettes being the worst and cigars/pipe tobacco the least. To totally cleans your system of nicotine takes a mere 8-10 days, whilst some of the other additives 10-12 weeks. The latter are the ones that lead and have lead to many failed attempts at cessation, along with the hand to mouth.

VM mentions this... only when the fiend comes along and becomes unbearable. It is further my belief that although all tobacco related products of combustion avoided are good, only one venture resets the clock (10-12 weeks). Not dissimilar to an alcoholic who cannot have one drink, or fall off the wagon.

It is further my opinion that, that is why BT has been so successful in keeping us hooked. Vaping is a serious revenue threat to both BT and BP. I was flabbergated yesterday when I found out what the carrier for the Nicotrol inhalor was? We would think PG, nope! Yet that device is FDA approved.

<<FDA approval package for Nicotrol Inhaler

-This study did NOT test for the TSNA's that are being criticized in PV's/e-cigs.

-Carrier of nicotine in this device is synthesized from formaldehyde, ammonia and acetaldehyde. All KNOWN toxins, but the device is FDA approved.

-hand to mouth habit in this device has proven to have a higher likelihood of reducing tobacco cigarette use

- ...the small amount of nicotine emitted into the environment is well below levels associated with adverse effects...>>
Drug Approval Package: Nicotrol NDA# 020714

So I am not hijacking my own thread here. This is what has helped me abstain from smoking. The understanding of what is contained in cigarettes and why it is so hard to quit. When I read the components, it strengthens my resolve even further towards total abstinence. I hope this helps folks that may have some questions, of why there are good days, and why there are bad days.
