Why am I going through atomizers so quickly?

I am using the aspire bdc tank and kanger battery. I had bought the kanger starter kit but changed the tank at the recommendation of a vape shop employee. I am burning through the attys in 3 days or so of non continuous use. I've tried various liquids and all have the same effect. I use it sporadically but when I do use it, it tends to be more like the style
Of smoking a cig. I don't take a pull every few min. It is more several in close succession. Is that burning them out? Is there one better suited to this type of vaping?

I had that experience with Kanger Protank coils. It's why I shortly ended up with a mech and an RBA five weeks into vaping.

It could be a bad batch of atties. I bought 5 one time and only 1 lasted a week or more. The others made the juice taste burnt. I don't use many BCC's so I can't help you there, sorry. Someone will have some good advice soon. Good luck and hopefully happy vaping!

I have the same experience with kanger coils. But I started rewicking them with cotton to make them last longer. I wait until I run out of backup coils to fix them and I cycle through 5 at a time so I'm not constantly having to work on them. I don't mind it too much.

You can soak and dry burn Aspire coils. I soak in alcohol for a few hours, dry burn then soak in water and/or boil for 10 minutes. I can extend their life out to a week or 10 days easy with pretty heavy use. A lot depends on your juice though. Chain vaping does seem to be a bit harder on equipment than a slower pace.

What is the pg/vg ratio of your eliquid? Vg is thicker than pg, and may gunk up your coils faster. Are your eliquids dark or sweet or both?
Dark and sweet eliquids also tend to gunk up coils.

I am not familiar with the Aspire bdc, and am not sure if you can clean and dry burn the coils. We have Kanger tanks, and I have had good success in getting extra use out of coils by cleaning and dry burning.

Exactly why I'm asking here instead. Every purchase I have made has been at the advice of a sales person! I want advice from people in the know instead lol. I don't know enough about the different types and find the info available overwhelming. I am not mechanically inclined and don't have the time to build my own stuff. I feel like I want to like vaping more than I actually like it. I want to be fully vaping and no cig but can't work out the kinks in order to do so. I enjoy many flavors and feel like I could really get into it if I don't get frustrated first by products that don't do what I want. I need an idiots guide. Everyone I know uses the kanger evod and they love it. Mine flooded all the time and overheated. Which caused the move to the aspire tank. Which doesn't flood. But I still have overheating and burning out. Which product will fix that???

I have tried various ratios of pg/vg. The hard part is, I like the taste of higher vg and find too much pg too harsh. I chain vape bc I want the nicotine but too high nic is also too harsh to me. I tried 100 percent vg thinking I was allergic to pg and I love the vg one I have. But the coil was done in a day. And I think it isn't really an allergy to pg but instead an overheating issue that causes the burning in my lungs. I like sweet flavors (fruity) but none of them are dark. I will like vaping far less if vaping the flavors i like means changing attys every 1-3 days.

Im going to speculate that the way you are chain vaping is burning out your coils. For example, you may be firing before and after you inhale. You need to get that airflow over the coils or the coil is just burning and burning your juice with it, either gunking up the coils or the wicking material or both.

Are you experiencing burnt taste?

I have a tendency to chain vape, but I am careful not to keep "burning" after the inhale (and before it for that matter).

I like Aspires a lot. Evods too, but I got a glass Aspire before Evod. Chain vaping will make evods gurgle if you arent careful.

IMHO, its an issue with clearomizers in general. They are a wicking sysem designed for new vapers. They are easy to fill and their coils are easy to replace. However, their very design concept is flawed.

Because they use tiny silica string (silica is an inferior flavor carrier compared to cotton or polyfill), a moderate to heavy vapor can easily outvape what they can wick to the coil. This leads to dry & burnt hits. Pull too hard and you draw more vapor through the wicks than the coils can vaporize, so the excess liquid has nowhere to go but the air chamber, leading to gurgling, juice in the mouth or draining onto the battery. Add this to the fact that these are made by hand literally by the millions with no way to gauge quality control, and you get a very inconsistant product.

what atty are you using
what nic level are you at
what juice do you use

the urge to vape more indicates your nic level is a bit lower than what your body requires to equal what you smoked
since you are vaping more often, the atty is gunking up sooner than it should
seems that your juice may have sweeteners in it also a cause for quick gunking

I don't know what the Atty is. It's whatever came with the aspire and what the guy sold me as replacements. I have tried various nic levels up to 18. 12 doesn't seem to give me enough and 18 is too harsh. Although the 18's I have tried have all been higher pg so my next attempt was going to be 100 vg at 18. I have also tried various brands. I start out liking most of them but shortly after use, they turn nasty. It may be a burn out on the atty instead but I'm trying to figure out if that's the culprit.

My advice would be to soak your coil in vodka after every tank. You can soak one coil, while you put a fresh coil in for the next tank, then switch them out. If the burnt taste is coming from the gunk on the coil, you can also dry burn your coil with short pulses when the coil is dry and the tank empty and clean.

My clearomizer coils (I used Vivi Nova's and Protanks) lasted about a week of continuous use when I did that. That was about 5 - 7 tanks worth of use.

I'm not sure if you'd consider rebuilding, but if you do, you'll find your own rebuilt coils last a lot longer (if cared for properly, over a month of use). All you have to do is change out the cotton wick after every couple tanks. You'll find videos on YouTube on how to rebuild Aspire coils.

also, to answer your question, there are no prebuilt atomizers that use cotton. Only by rebuilding or re-wicking, can you use cotton. That's because, cotton as a wicking material has a lot of restrictions. It can never be dry burned, because it will burn. Cotton wicks need to be changed after every tank or 2 worth of use, but you can easily change the cotton wick without having to change the coil. Just slide the old cotton out and put a fresh strand in. Because of those characteristics, companies will never make prepackaged cotton wicks for clearos.

The next step up would be cartotanks. The entire contents of a carto is wick (polyfill - a cottonlike material), so right out of the starting block you have more surface area to wick juice to the coil. Unless you really mess up a cartotank, you're not going to have dry or burnt hits, gurgling, juice in the mouth, or flooding issues.

Next step up after that is the rebuildables. Rebuildable drip atomizers (RBA) and rebuildable tank atomizers (Kayfun or Genesis-style). Here you'll be wrapping coils from wire and making your own wicks from cotton or silica.

I would try soaking and dry burning your Aspire heads and maybe buy yourself an evod for a different experience. The evod coils are easy to get apart and you can see the wick and coil mechanism and what you are cleaning and dry burning (wait until one burns out before you do this).

And that will be a nice introduction to the rebuildables that bad writes and illustrates above.

I am kind of disappointed that noone pointed me in the direction of cartos earlier as they seem to be a good vaping experience. Does anyone go backward from a kayfun to a carto?

I still use my cartotanks. I only have one Kayfun, which happens to be down at the moment needing a new 0-ring replacement. I have a rebuildable dripper too, but its not appropriate for when I'm driving or out of the house.

Cartotanks remain a great all-around delivery device whether they be the backup or primary delivery device, and are especially ideal for out of the house use.

Bingo! Bad coils. I bought the Aspire BDC, and the first coil lasted a little over 2 weeks. All subsequent replacement coils suck...they barely last 2 days.

The guy at my local B&M said that there should be a new batch that has hit the market that is better than the last...I'm not sure if that's true or not, because they have said the same thing about the Aspire Nautilus coils too, and I have yet to see them.

Until Aspire gets their crap together in the coil department, mine are put up on the shelf.

So far, the best two clearos I've used are the top coil iClear16, and the bottom coil Protank 3 series. I've got 3 of the Mini PT3s and one full sized PT. I also have about 10 iClear16s that I rotate in and out of use, depending on my flavor for the day.

This is one of the reasons I got into rebuilding. There are those who happily vape on using the cartos and Protanks, and God bless em if that works for them, but some of us just need more than that equipment can deliver, and we need it consistently, long term. I went through carto coils and Protank coils like there was no tomorrow, and decided that stuff wasn't for me. I was tired of having to buy clearo coils and rebuilding Protank coils every day, and rebuilding RBA's was the answer. It's a lot cheaper, makes you self-reliant as a vaper, and provides a better vape all around.

Everyone has to start somewhere, and almost everyone started with an ego battery and a clearomizer, so that equipment has it's place and purpose, but it also has it's limits.
