I believe that vaping is extremely drying to the month, which really does a number on teeth and gums. Be sure to drink plenty of water.

This is very true. While glycerin is used as a humectant in some applications to keep products moist, under certain conditions it behaves as a desiccant to wick moisture away from an object to keep it dry. In fact, glycerin is commonly used to dry flowers and leaves for use in crafts and decorating. Much of the "water" in vapor comes from our own mouths.

Accordingly, in addition to drinking more water it's helpful to have Biotene in your arsenal. Biotene is an oral product for treating Dry Mouth. It's available as a rinse, gel and liquid. You can find it in the mouthwash section at grocery stores.

Besides what everyone else said, you have to drink enough water -- a stupid amount of water. Dry mouth promotes bacteria. I'd also try to stay away from sugary vapes, and I've been wondering about PG/VG especially if you aren't drinking enough water and flossing. PG I believe breaks down into a mild acid, and VG into a sugar, both of which if you aren't drinking constantly while vaping could end badly.

There is no sugar in eliquid. If you put sugar in eliquid you will wind up with a coil that is gunked up with caramel.

My teeth are close to perfect for someone who has never had any major work done to their mouth. I had maybe a tiny chip in one tooth and a miniscule cavity that I can't even remember what tooth it was.

Since vaping, I have noticed some sensitivity too.. I always attributed it to cigarette tobacco numbing your mouth more than vaping, because of the gazillions of chemicals in cigarettes and the numbing effects of tobacco.

Whether I am right or wrong, a trip to the dentist should still be in order, because sensitivity could mean something is wrong.

But imho, the problem was probably already there and the additional numbing effects of cigarette tobacco perhaps just masked the problem...

There is most definitely straight-up sugar in some eliquids, which yes does do some rough things to coils. Though it's often artificial sweeteners in flavorings, flavors with actual sugars are used and some add it outside of the flavorings; but even VG itself breaks down into a form of sugar.

Went to the dentist this past friday. I had a couple of cavities and in two weeks I have to get a root canal done. After that my issues should be fixed. However I did also drop down to a lower level nic in my juices and the tooth pain has subsided tremendously. I am constantly drinking water and other refreshing beverages so keeping my mouth moist is most certainly not an issue at all. I will keep everyone posted. Until next time

Just a quick note, that while this might go without saying: if you are constantly drinking sugared soda or sugared coffee or other refreshing beverages to keep your mouth moist, you will be helping your dentist pay for their mistress*.

*This isn't intended to be sexist, I just don't know (a) what a male version of a mistress is to add it with a slash and (b) I could be off -- but does it seem like most dentists are male?
