Why can't people just say, "YAY, Good Job!!" ?

l failed so many attempts at quitting smoking over the past 30 years (even tried acupuncture once...lol), I quit almost 10 days ago thanks to e-cigs!! I finally got the nerve to post this fact on my FB page. There is always someone who feels the need to slap you while cheering you on...sigh. Most replies were "Like", or some encouragement. One person said, "Good...now give up the e-cigs and give your lungs a break...they will thank you!"
It's my journey, I'm doing it my way...and THIS way worked! Was that really necessary? I have never met this woman...I know her daughter. She is generally a fun FB friend, and maybe I shouldn't let it get to me, but....DAMN!

i know what you mean with responses like those. i posted a "100 days away from one full year without tobacco" on my facebook page and while there were a lot of "likes" the only comment aside from my own was: "but still addicted to nicotine?"
uh. well. hate to break this to you, friend, but it still is almost a year without tobacco. and i didn't have to alter my brain chemistry in order to cease. so ya. go me.
congrats. don't let anyone get you down.

Like the others said good job and congrats! vaping is the only thing that got me to quit and I am thankful for it, as well as the people here at the ECF.

Next time someone makes a comment like that, remind them of the healthy lunch they had, and be sure to use a lot of sarcasm when doing so.

I quit smoking November of 2011 and only those friends who used an e-cig encouraged me. Anyone else said things like, "Now you have another habit to break." I do not consider vaping another habit. It's a safe alternative and I enjoy it!

It's just ignorance and lack of knowledge that makes people react like that. My own brother is unhappy with me vaping cuz it's soooooooooooo unhealthy! (yeah, he's a smoker!!!!!!) Keep up the good work and ignore people that wanna be negative.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!

As you and I started this at about the same time, I have to say I am proud of you. Although after that first day last week I tried to make it my last day smoking, I have smoked at least 4 cigs a day since then (more than 1/2 of previous). Today I have had no cigarettes at all and I think I am finally done.

Unfortunately there are people that are never completely satisfied when they hear good news about someone quitting a bad habit. There will HAVE to be something to nit pick about. It would probably be the same if you had quit smoking without any alternative device. That same person, if they knew you drank coffee every day, may comment, "oh, now to just quit the coffee..." or some other comment.

Enjoy your success. Most people also don't understand how hard it is to quit smoking and have no reality with what we go through.
