Why can't everyone just leave us the hell alone? I quit smoking because I felt like a criminal doing it. I would go out and hide in the bushes if I was in public scared to death that I may "offend" someone. I felt like a criminal, they kept yelling "you're killing us with your second hand smoke" So I quit, I went to an e-cig, minding my own business, not "killing" anyone anymore. Now it's..."shame on me again" I'm nothing more than an addict, never mind that they can't push away from the table or live without their coffee or their diet drinks or their cell phones that are zapping the hell out of everyone, no, those are clean pure things and not bad for you. Really? Seriously? C'mon people, you are as addicted as I am, to your caffeine and your pie and your overeating or your cokes and all the other stuff that is bad for you. You are just holier than thou and think your addictions are ok. Right, keep on telling yourself that.

LEAVE ME ALONE

You enjoy your vices and let me enjoy mine dammit. I'm fed up with the lot of you looking down your nose at me while stuffing your faces with all the chemicals they put in that "healthy" food you eat and drinking your two pots of coffee a day. I don't walk on water but guess what...neither do you. LEAVE ME ALONE!

Rant over, stepping off my soapbox now.

I totally know & understand what you're feeling. I just don't care about what people say anymore. If they don't like it they can leave. I don't really know what their problem is. I try to be respectful of others but when I get that rare douche bag I just tell them to have a nice day. If you don't bother me then I won't bother you. I'm a grown woman & I don't need any lectures from anyone. You're not any better than me...in fact they probably have bigger demons than me & my vaping.

Don't let people get to you SexySod! I've learned they're not worth the energy or the time! vape on!:toast:

Thank you chimney, I appreciate that girl, I just get fed up with everyone. I was telling someone today that I quit smoking and instead of saying way to go they said, you just replaced one bad habit with another, talking about my vaping. People are such ...... and they get under my skin lol.

You are right generic mutant, it's just that I'm tired of them being all righteous while they are doing the "preferred drugs" lol

God, I know what you mean. I quit drinking (I was a Wineaux), lost 30 pounds, tried to quit the analogs, got depressed, doctor prescribed anti-depressants,then I gained 40 pounds and when I found myself seriously thinking about driving off a bridge, I just said screw it!. Weaned off the anti-depressants & bought a pack of smokes, lost 50! pounds (didn't start drinking again). A few months later, when my mom asked if I felt better because I was smoking again, I said "Yes...so which do you want?"

Now, I'm *almost* done with the analogs again (down to 2 a day) and vaping like mad. Still not drinking and no weight gain. I figure I'll break even in mid-May. To hell with the haters and the holier-than-thous.

Oh dear, I went on a rant, too, didn't I? Opps.

Everyone has a vice but for some reason smokers are frowned upon for theirs. We never harass people for having to much coffee, energy drinks, liquor, candy etc... It's the same thing. Unfortunately it's easier for some to judge others rather than take a good look at themselves! What's that saying...'Ignorance is bliss'.

Right chimney, you hit it spot on! They say we are killing people with our second hand smoke, wonder how many people have been killed by drunk drivers compared to second hand smoke. I never want to go back to smoking but that is a choice that I have made for myself, once I quit I felt so much better that I didn't want to start back again...so this is MY choice, not theirs, it's not a 'win' for them, it's my win.

That's exactly how I feel! I did this for me! Not for anyone else! For ME!! I think people need to evaluate their own lives before passing judgment on others for things they have no clue about! I wouldn't trade vaping for anything & when people ask when I'm gonna quit this my reply is 'when I die'. And if they don't like my answer they can keep it moving. At this point I can really care less. I'm proud of myself. I overcame a addiction that I'd had for half of my life! I'm smoke free! And you are too! That's something no one can ever take from me...from US!!

There is a huge area of research about the way mental health and nicotine addiction interact. The majority of schizophrenics self-medicate with nicotine, or perhaps other things in tobacco. That basically proves that they have a massive effect on mental health (and doesn't mean you need to be schizophrenic to self-medicate with them).

The puritans who think that everyone should quit instantly are missing the point: for some people it's easy to quit, for others the effects of quitting are much worse (even if they are temporary) than the future prospect of poor health. Neurochemistry and neuropsychology are complicated and poorly understood, but we're learning.

If you're a professional basketball player, you might say: "I used to not care about being a professional basketball player, and then I realised that I wanted to become one. I practised for a long time, and now I am one. This proves that if you want to be a professional basketball player, you can."

Obviously it doesn't, there are other factors at play, such as innate ability or stature. You can't extrapolate from individual experience to everyone else. The experience of addiction to a drug is not in principle any different.

Fully understand your rant! I grew up with the stuff.. use to walk into the bowling alley at 14 to buy a pack out of the machine.. was even issued a k-ration at my 1st drill, before heading off to basic training, which included a pack of 6 cigarettes in it.. made to take a break every hour during that training to "smoke", was caught by my drill sgt smoking outside when we were restricted to being inside and he asked me for a light.. and even had an ashtray in my office (which was used!!!!) when I came back.

By the time I retired, it was almost against regs to mention the words "smoking", "tobacco" or even "chew", even though officers would come down to my office to smoke..(had super exhaust fans...).. yet over half my unit still used tobacco (which was more than when I 1st joined..).

I liked smoking and other than staying out of someones way if I entered an area, I would stand my ground if they entered an area I was smoking in (of course, this is all out side now...)

Don't let them wear you down. Smile and then ignore them. Another option.. Hey.. you can always give them that special salute that doesn't include most of your fingers.. :D

lol heya SupplyDaddy, I knew you would come and back up my crazy rant, nice to have friends here. I chock it up to this...people just aren't happy unless they are .....ing about something or someone! I'm happier just being mellow and without drama. I live for those days, I always say, "don't start none and there won't be none" lol
