It would be great to have a PV with a power cord that keeps the battery away from your face.

Like an iPod cord, or cell phone, also personal devices. Seems like there could be extension cord that would keep the battery away from you by a foot or two? They you could use a safe, conventional battery?

80% or more of my vaping is done at home........so could be tethered to a cord and large battery.

Why can't a PV be desinged to work on a conventional Alkaline battery pack, or maybe even a Big one you could put on the table next to you.

Here's a possible solution, the safe vaping battery backpack:

and when the batteries blow, this happens:

obviously strictly for outdoor use.
I'll try find an indoor solution:D

Yeah O2, probably less than 1% ignition of laptop cells, cell phones, etc. too. Vaporers aren't dying from ignitions, that's for sure......but analog users are dying from lung disorders.

But this doesn't mean that inventing a better wheel, or suggesting doing so, is a waste.

Most of the improvements in the world did not come about by status quo......it's usually because somebody, somewhere, wanted something different or better.

I'd look into portable USB chargers and a passthrough.

I'd guess that there may be too low of a wattage limit on those typical battery-based chargers, though, so I'd probably build something like this:

Heavy duty portable charger for usb devices (phones, iPad, etc.)

There are any number of ways to do something like that. I'd probably start with a modification of something like this:

The PUCK e-Cig Mod - An e-Cigarette Box Mod You Can Build Cheap and Easy and Uses Standard Rechargable BatteriesThe PUCK e-Cig Mod

Using 4 series NiMH AA batteries in a Radio Shack project box with a USB port installed would probably be adequate. Those are 2000mah+, can be quick-charged, and bought locally.

ETA - I should point out that 3-5 of the AAs could be used, for 3.6, 4.8, or 6v.

Yeah LucentShadow beat me to it, that's what I use daily. 4 NiMH AAA's in a 1x2x3 project box with a Phoenix RBA. Gonna be switching to AA's shortly though due to the higher mAh, but with a 15 min recharge time the AAA's have been doing fine, just keep a set charged while using another set. If you're kinda crafty like I am you could always build yourself an adapter with 510 connections to keep the batteries away while you vape. Basically what's in the above picture, old school hookah tubing with your +/- wires running through it attached to a switch that connects to the other 510 connector. Been playing around with something similar but it's not done yet, planning on having it just plugged directly into the wall, no need for batteries at all at home. 9 volts stepped down into a variable voltage table top mod.
