Why did I spend $11 on this cotton?

Yep sounds like you bought into the hype. Do you need any fluval, blue foam, tea bags or poly filler?

I guess you need to be from the old school to realize how hilarious this post is! LOL! :toast:

I had some major "fun" with tea bags back in the day LMFAO

My first modding of any sort was the T cut blue foam cart mod, thought it was the pinnacle of vaping

These days, KGD is IMO the best wicking material I have found. I get no off flavor and it wicks like no other. The $12 investment, even after giving a bunch away, will last years.

I was never able to get consistent builds with cotton balls. Finally got in some KGD and it's MUCH easier to get uniform wicks for consistent builds. I was about to throw my kayfuns in the trash.

Now i literally just finished rewicking using the rayon that i just got in and i feel like i'll have to go through another wicking learning curve all over again as both builds are completely garbage! I've done a ton of research and followed all the tips and tricks too. Oh well, i'll keep playing with it and will get it eventually.

It works well with coils that have a larger ID and are not contact but spaced, you need to really stuff it and then taper it from the coil out to the tail. it is great flavor, less vapor production though. I have it setup in my stillare on a .22 build

I love KGD...
I like Rayon too (Cellucotton Rayon)
They're both different. I've been on the Rayon thread and finally got the scoop on it. If done right folks swear by it. Same thing with ReadyXwick Nextel... you have to know the factors to get it to work to its potential.

I.E. KGD is more user friendly imo, and it works better in micro coils (compressed with touching wraps) vs. Rayon is better with spaced coils. (spaced coils with KGD is ok too--- but you get better results with Rayon if they are spaced)

KGD is cotton and unlike Rayon it will expand when wicked so density is important. Too much will choke the vape. It has to fill the coil and still be able to slide back and forth to a small degree. (too loose is not good).

Better than reg. organic cotton balls? Yes much better in every way.

I agree. You can get a 500 foot roll for $11.49 from Sally Beauty Supply. That's enough to last you several lifetimes.

Awesome stuff. Imparts no off taste to any of your juices.

Have you done any research of the safety of rayon? I'm wanting to try it, but I've heard all this stuff on how it's chemically blah blah blah.

that subject has been beaten to death. check out the rayon thread. basically, some people hold the opinion that it's safe. others hold the opinion that its safety is questionable. no one knows for sure since it's all based upon opinion without any testing.

go with what you're comfortable with and what helps keep you from smoking cigarettes. for me, that's fukushima-irradiated cotton pads with dubious "organic" labeling that provide excellent wicking and ease of use.

Don't think that when I say rayon, I am talking about clothes from the 80's. When I say rayon I am talking about cellucotton. Think of wood pulp because that is exactly what it is.

When one burns rayon, one smells burnt paper. What were your tobacco cigarettes rolled in?

Personally, since I am not combusting my wicks, I feel perfectly safe using rayon (cellucotton if you will) as my preferred choice of wicking material. YMMV
