Just wanted a reason to buy some new cool toys![]()
My situation may be unique or at least novel. Before Jack brought home various e-cigs to try, I smoked the occasional cigar or pipe but did not inhale -- just liked the taste, really. Well, and whatever residual nicotine buzz you get. But I wasn't addicted to nicotine and I never smoked cigarettes.
When Jack brought home some vaping gear, though, I tried it out and found that as well as liking the act of puffing and making clouds and stuff, I really like nicotine. So in a sense I'm the wrong story to tell -- I didn't quit anything or even switch really (I'll still smoke a nice cigar given half a chance), but rather adopted it because, well, I like it. The fact that I'm not likely to wind up with lung cancer or stinky clothes is a plus, of course.
I quit smoking over a year ago by switching to snus. While Swedish Snus isn't really all that harmful to you, the American contemporary is very questionable however. They also basically have no nicotine at all, so I was using two at a time. This caused me to use about 2 cans a day, which equaled at least 2600 dollars a year donated to Camel. Once I started feeling my upper gums recede I knew it was time to quit them, but I knew I wouldn't go back to smoking. Coincidentally my friend told me he'd just started vaping, so I figured I'd give it a shot too. And here I am![]()
Cigarettes will kill you. Cigarettes will kill the ones you love.
I couldn't stop smoking. I have assimilated.
I save no money. I smell like french toast.
I couldn't be happier, or feel better.
I think I'll break even in about 3 years. Maybe. ;-)
Heh, I should try to keep track somehow. I don't know if it would encourage me or just show what a spendthrift I am... =D
Don't do it! Trust me, it's better not to think about it in terms of money. Count happiness instead.
The wake up call was just a few weeks ago when I spent an entire week deer hunting. It seemed everyone was seeing deer except me. I came to the conclusion that it doesnt matter how still you sit or how good your spot is if your lighting up a smoke every hour. My secondary reason is health, When I smoked I was prone to getting bronchitis about every 3 months. Week long caughing fits with green phlegm is a subtle hint that your body isnt too pleased with your choice of passtime.
