Thanks for the info, Thomas -- I was unaware of any airline regulations regarding ecigs.

I did read that the FDA still has yet to approve of ecigs and that there are certain chemicals released in "burning" the wicks in an ecig.. but not near the thousands of chemicals that are found in burning tobacco.

I'm still new to this, but first and second hand ecig vapor appears by far to be safer from what I've read. Who knows, they'll probably find a way to shut down ecigs, too. Nothing good ever lasts (I'm an eternal pessimist, what can I say).

I started because I love smoking, but hate what tobacco does to me in terms of health, smell, energy levels, ect.

I actually started vaping in order to cut down on my cigarette consumption, but within two days, I was completely on the e-cig and off the analogs!

That's awesome. Stories like this are inspiring.

I had a cardiac episode 2 weeks ago.. Had a little vacation at the hospital. When I entered the ER, my heart rate was 150 and my blood pressure was 245/150, not to mention my blood glucose was 440.. Obviously quitting smoking was one of the stipulations to help get these numbers under control. Along with medication adjustments, diet adjustments and exercise. I purchased an e cig from a local gas station.. but it just wasn't doing it. I stumbled across this wonderful forum, and the rest as they say is history. Albeit very recent history, but history none the less. I don't plan on looking back. Tomorrow will be 7 days with no analogs at all. Vape on!

The first time I had even heard of an ecig was during a filming on set for the TV show " Man Caves". I was onset doing some installs with my crew and one of the camera guys was puffing away INDOORS. I must have been eyeballinghm longer than i had noticed and he looked at me and said " it's water vapor dude, not smoke ". Was a head scratcher moment for me since I had never heard of it. ( sheeeeesh just when you think you're in the loop !! )

Few moths later ( this past february ) i was walking thru the mall shopping with my wife and kids and I saw a guy in the middle of the aisle smoking at a kiosk. I stopped to check it out and see what this was all about, took a few drags and stared at this thing in amazement. At that moment I knew I was done with smoking and looked over at my wife and said " you're lookin at a non smoker baby ! ". Then went home with new $ 150.00 ecig kit with 2 little batts and 10 cartos. Hahahahahahahah. Who knew ??????

Haven't touched an analog since that moment and it hasn't phased me one lick.

My 9 biggest reasons also. When the grandchildren are around I wanted to spend time with them, not running outside to. "have a cigarette) . When my oldest granddaughter told her teacher that smoking doesn't hurt you " cause my grandma is fine and she Is old already) I knew the time was Now!!! Been a month, I've slipped a few times, but I will do it.

You won't be " outta breath " for long !!! I like seeing other vapers from jersey. I'm always on the lookout when I see plumes of smoke coming out of a car at a red light. South jersey here !!!!

One of my favorite parts of this when I first started was my 5 and 12 yr old girls hugging me and saying " daddy youre breath smells like chocolate strawberries not that yucky smoke ". PRICELESS

Keep up the good work

I recently found out i have severe sleep apnea (i stop breathing 120 timer per hour) and figured my 1 - 1.5 packs a day for the last 29 years was not helping the situation. So in my new quest to breathe and feel better i came across this forum and have been activly stalking/learning everything i can. I ordered my first kit, received it this past monday at 10 am (my first break at work), charged my batteries & was vaping by noon. I have not had an analog since tuesday night and really looking forward to the possibilites this has opened up for me!

30+ years of smoking and chewing and just could not take it anymore. I was at a friends house and his wife had an ecig and as soon as I tried it I knew I was done with my old way of life, I bought a not so cheap 510 setup the next day.

I tried the patch and gum and they just did not do the trick. I could have a patch on a dip of Skoal in my mouth and smoke a Marlboro Red and it would not phase me a bit. I now vape 10mg nic juice all day and feel flipin great.

Tried umpteen times to quit - gum, toothpicks, dummy cigs, filters, Quest reduced nicotine tobacco, cinnamon sticks, straws, the patch - finally lost my job due to the bank I worked at going under, and was looking for ways to economize. Up very late one night and I saw a TV ad for electronic cigarettes. Fired up my browser and learned a lot in the next few hours. Next day or two I stopped by a tobacconist and picked up a "Health-e-Cigarette".

Upgraded to a 510 shortly thereafter, and finally a Silver Bullet.

Flip-flopped to analogs and back again several times; usually at times of high stress when I had no good juice. Right now I'm doing half and half because I'm waiting for some new equipment and juice to arrive - until then, I only have some awful juice and the durable but unwieldy Silver Bullet.

Shipments should arrive tomorrow or Monday (hoping tomorrow so I can toss out the stinkies!)

Happy Vaping!

My story... I watched my mother die of cancer, directly linked to her cigarette smoking. First, the 10th anniversary of her death came. Then the 20th anniversary of her first diagnosis. Then, this year, I entered what I call the "cancer zone" - I turned the same age as what my mother was when she was first diagnosed. I've dealt with a lot of illnesses which could be linked to smoking and which could lead directly to cancer. I had to quit. I just knew I had to quit. I also knew that patches and gum didn't work for me, and I wasn't going anywhere near a medication that could make me suicidal, homicidal, or just plain have nasty reactions to my other meds. I went to e-cigs, and although the first week felt like torture while I waited for my first kit (I used a Blu disposable until my kit arrived), right after I was able to make the switch without hardly an inkling of any cravings. I was ready, and my Volts are now my pacifiers, lol. And, my doctor is just plain ecstatic that I am no longer smoking, and he even asked me several questions about how vaping was working for me.

I started to save money. Eventually I cut down the amount of analogs and now I'm about a little over a week and half analog free. It took a few months and I'm at that point where I'm starting to save some cash.

Congratulations on making the switch to smoke free, TAP352!

Keep going. You're going to make it through, and you've found a great support site in ECF.

I do. I have had it about 6 weeks.

Icubed001, congratulations on recognizing your needs and following through on getting smoke free! You will start to feel so much better. However, do see your doctor. He may have some insights for you as your body adjusts to being smoke free. I was told that I could actually see an increase in congestion for 5 to 10 months as the body starts to "rebuild" and purge itself of all the years of smoke nastiness. He told me to use an over the counter decongestant that I felt comfortable taking and that wouldn't react with any other medications I'm taking. Anyway, see your doctor, and if nothing else he/she will be extremely happy with the direction you are taking. And welcome to ECF!

Walked into a local grocery store, Winn Dixie, and was sick of hiding the smoking from my wife and others. EVERYONE is always on your case about them and, of course, for a good reason. I wasn't able to have my morning smoke yet, as my wife was with me the whole day, so I picked up a disposable Metro Ecig. After a days worth of vaping, I was hooked and found ECF. ECF then helped me pick the right PV and the right cartos and here I am. Tomorrow marks 2 weeks of being smoke free!!!
bigpman, I think your comment of hiding it from your wife and friends is funny. I thought I was doing the same thing, but once the smell wasn't on me it was so noticeable on others, like I never imagined. LOL. I stopped by my mom's house the other day and when leaving I gave her a hug as I always do, she then proceeded to tell me I didn't stink any more.
