I've had many nicknames in my 56 years, and when I got into PC racing, I needed a name. I wrote down all the nicks I had over the years, and put them in a hat. The first one I pulled out was Ayce. I got it back in the late 70s, when I was in BC and living with 3 girls. We all had personality traits that were similar to the KISS characters. One girl was a "love child" who would go naked all day, unless someone was coming over, one was "catlike", always around but never sure where or when she would show up, and could purr or scratch, depending on mood. The other was "demonic" and somewhat gross. She once grabbed a handfull of spagetti and sauce right out of the pot. I won't go into other details on that one.
Me, I was "spacey" most of the time, always talking about Star Trek, or Sci Fi in general, I could "leave my body" while listening to songs. (Well, at least they thought I could :) ) So I got Ace. I added the "y" to aviod confusion.
I've used Ayce (or added my birth year) ever since. For a while I was [SS]Ayce during my Porsche Unleashed days. [SS] = Super Stockers.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;)

I do that to excess myself sometimes. Are you talking iRacing, rFactor2, or C.A.R.S.? Im heavily into iRacing since the beta a couple of years ago with a triple screen setup, and a Frex (knockoff) motion simulator. Love racing.

As I mentioned, I got into online racing in NFSPU. I had tried the first NFS, but didn't like the Porsche. Odd I know. When the wife and I moved to Kitchener, my building manager (aka boss) got me into the other NFS titles, 2 thru High Stakes, then into racing in PU online. Even got a Momo. Eventually, EA shut down the servers, but left us an out. A member of our rival team developed what is called the IPLounge, which a bunch of us "hard core" PUers helped beta test and debug. It's still in use, almost 10 years after sundown. I then moved on to other racing games like Mercedes Benz World Racing, Live for Speed, Flatout 1 and 2, Test Drive 3, TOCA and Race Driver series and World Racing 2. Also tried a couple of rally games, but they could never recapture what PU had. The NFS series went down hill after that, in many old time racers opinions, and still hasn't recovered.
Anyway, as time went on, one contact from PU posted on another forum asking for help with a new project just starting up called Motor World Online. The developer (Ken) wanted to recreate Motor City Online, that had been killed off by EA about the same time as it killed PU. I had seen the game, MCO, but it was pay to play and online only, so it was useless to me. I was intriqued by the project and joined up as a track designer and builder. I knew squat about it, but I was willing to learn. I learned many ways to build tracks and used several games as test beds, from Mercedes Benz World Racing to rFactor as well as the game engines we used.
I've come a long way from just running tracks to building them, and have a new respect for the design teams for any good quality game. It takes a lot of time and effort to get things to look right, even if it uses certain tricks to fool the player, while not overtaxing the PC's capabilities.

I've heard of rFactor 2, of course, and iRacing, a bit, and several others. Never heard of C.A.R.S. I do try to keep up on the "competition" though.

Sorry for the long OT post, but the question was asked. ;)
Maybe we need a vapers who race, or vice versa thread? :2cool:

Have used Metalhead for a long time because of my music preference. Plus that's the name of my boat. I shortened it to Metalhd when I bought the Harley:2cool: Harley pics &boat 003.jpg

I am a proud Husband, father and Roman Catholic, also I have an interest in the Latin language and Roman history. In Latin Pater Familias means Father of the family, A Paterfamilias was the head of the family the "Patriarch" the King of the castle if you will, I know it makes me sound a bit like Fred Flinstone, but eeh.

Echofinder is the name of an attack used by some enemies in the SNES game Mario RPG: that was/is my favorite game & this name stuck out to me as sounding very epic. Over the years I have ascribed various other meanings to it (being psychic, finding echos as an epic way to say "historian" ...etc) but it came from MRPG.
