I definitely haven't seen many of these "benefits" of which you speak... my cigarette savings were quickly diverted to buying other stuff so no net gain there. I've realized for the first time how disgusting a garbage disposal can smell and the back yard smells like a dog park no matter how often I "pick up." So other than the not listening to myself breath at night, I'm not feeling it. ;)

    Somewhere between here and there
I experienced the same thing Allco with the spending. All of the money I was spending went to buy vaping supplies in search for the perfect liquid and mod, which by the way do not exist. Then I was on to snus and then snuff. Then I found out about the PACT crap and had to buy enough snus and snuff to stock up for as long as I could. It is just now that after a year that I will finally be able to start saving some of the money I was spending on smokes. As far as benefits from not smoking, I would say that I don't have a smokers cough any more, I can taste food better, and like you mentioned, can smell things better but that is not always a good thing. Oh and I almost forgot. There is the fact that my kids don't see me with a cigarette in my hand.

That is so funny. I hopped into my S2000 this AM rather than taking the bike since they were calling for rain. I turned town this one road that had a park on one side and a field on the other. All of a sudden a very strong manure smell hit me. I thought they must have fertilized the field. Then I went around the next bend and about 100 yards in front of me was a honey dipper truck. They must have just filled up, it was disgusting. Had I still been smoking, I probably wouldn't have even noticed it.

I too have picked up the smell of the dog droppings at my house, you have to take the good with the bad. I guess the money part is a bit different because of how much I was actually smoking before I got my first PV.

I'm tracking my expenditures and what I would have spend every month on cigarettes. As Hit said, there were some costs incurred when PACT was getting close, but now I only have to look for deals that will keep my inventory constant. On the PV front, I found a great deal on atomizers on Friday and placed my order (which arrived today believe it or not). I'm good to go for years on hardware, unless I just have to buy something. I don't vape that much anymore, more for recreation. I'll buy liquid if I see something that interests me and is cheap, but I'm fixed there.

The savings from quitting are as of today based on what I would have saved in the past year or so. I was buying 3 cartons every two weeks. That's 3 * 26 * $50 at today's prices or $3900 a year savings if I don't spend anything. You can tell from my over a year savings at the bottom of my post, I spent some serious dollars to get here, but I have at least a two to three year supply. I expect that I'll save well over $10k in that time period.

roth, I think alot of us end up like that after a period of time. I have enough hardware to last several years and if I stopped buying any now, I probably wouldn't use up all of the liquid I have before it went bad but have some that I haven't cared for much and never bothered to sell. I honestly don't know how long my snus will last. I would say most likely at least a year anc maybe more. Now snuff I could probably never buy again and have enough but couldn't resist ordering a few new ones to try last week. So now my ordering will slow down to almost nothing. Just the occasional order for fun. My savings will however be diverted to the payment for my daughter's braces that she got on last week so I still really won't be saving.

Oh, but you are Hit. You would have gotten her the braces even if you were still smoking. It's just that now you can use money you would have spent on cigarettes. :toast:
