why do perfectly good atomizers stop taking to batteries?

Best atomizer I ever had (from wicked) worked perfectly every hit. Then all of a sudden, it just stopped cold. The battery light still lit up (DSE901) but nothing. So I tried another battery...same thing.

I know the atomizer is good, not only because it's less than a week old, but because one hit was a huge plume, the very next NADA.

What is that about and what can I do?

Thanks a billion!

Maybe you should put them into relationship counseling??

On a serious note though... try using a tissue to clean the threads on both connections. Sometimes that helps. Also if you over tighten a 901 the atty bits sometimes get pushed further into the tube where they don't make proper connection with the battery.... or the atty broke like jeffakamax suggested.

Just had a charged battery "stop" wasn't sure if it was the batt or the atty so I cleaned off the well of the batt and threads of both the batt and atty and it worked. Used a quetip in Everclear - seemed the threads may have been the problem - evidently all surface areas affects the connection. Doing fine now.

Well, in my experience, atomizers can fail a few different ways. I recently had one where the coil burnt into in the middle. I've had three or four where the soldering near the coil broke. I've also had one hairy old atty that apparently died from the build-up of juice residue PUSHING the coil out of the ceramic cup until it broke.

Yes, they do fail suddenly and abruptly without warning. The best way to figure out what's going on with them without dissection is with a digital multimeter.

Resistance is infinite - circuit is broken - bad solder joint or atomizer coil

Resistance is high - above 5 ohms (may even be 50 to 70 ohms and getting HOT) - coil or connections are dirty - try flushing or cleaning the atty

Resistance is 3 to 5 ohms - coil and wiring are intact - try flushing and draining the atty
