I'm a month into vaping....and having so much difficulty that I'm seriously thinking of giving up. I have a good PV.....an eGo T and using fluxomizers. No trouble, no hassle with it, easy to use.

I've tried many flavors (my son shares as he is a very successful vaper). I did I have some issues with PG and I've been vaping straight VG. I really don't like artificial flavors so I've been pretty much sticking to a DIY of VG, nic (have tried varying strengths), menthol crystals, spearmint, a touch of wintergreen (yes, I really like menthol).

As the song says I just can't get no satisfaction (vaping in it's self does not cut the analog craving for me)....it makes me cough worse than analogs ever did (yes, I've tried not vaping and smoking analogs and as soon as I start vaping again I start coughing again, within the first few vapes)). I've been fortunate that I have such great support here at home.

I'm frustrated and yes, angry at myself that I can't seem to "get it". I went into it with such conviction and hope. Any other people fail at vaping?

I found out that I do not like fluxomizers. If that's all I had I would've went back to smoking. I don't know what it is but I hate them. I have been analog free for a few weeks and enjoying it. Maybe youre one of the people addicted to something else in cigarettes besides the nicotine. I think it's called a tobacco alkaloid or Some such thing. I'm sure someone much more knowledgable than myself will be along shortly. Good luck

ive read some posts about a battery (buzzpro) that allows you to adjust the voltage. the users described it as "finding their sweet spot".
by adjusting the voltage dial in conjunction with a certain resistance atomizer (learned from experimenting) it seems they were able to really fine tune the taste/experience. hope that helps.
i have not seen many comments about failing like yours. i really hope you find what works for you.

P.s i am a menthol lover as well and Johnson creek have a RedOak line that is 100% VG based. Red Oak™ Smoke Juice - Tundra™
there is link to menthol flavor. good luck.

Calieadair, first let me say welcome, you have come to a great place.
You are not alone and being much to hard on yourself. I don't know how long you have smoked but the first months can be very difficult. Chances are your struggling with getting your chemistry back on track. Cigs are loaded with feel good drugs and antidepressants. After so many years addicted to the chemicals it's no wonder your struggling.Don't beat yourself up! Have a cig here or there if you need it. No one said you have to pick up a PV and never touch a cig again. Do this on your own time table. Not your sons, friends or family. This is your journey. We are all made differently.

What seemed to help me was thinking of this like switching brands, not a quit. I think it helped me keep from going crazy.

Now for your breathing and coughing. Vaping is very different all together, slow even drags inhaling only into your mouth after that's done then inhale into your lungs. Like you do when blowing smoke rings. I noticed when I first started the vapor seemed harsh on my throat and lungs and I too coughed, but I liken it to when I first started smoking, cigs always made me cough but stoped after 6 months or so.

Give it some time and see if it improves, you may just be getting used to the new feelings.

Good luck and make sure you ask plenty of questions here. Were always willing to help if we can.

Some of us just need to give vaping a little time. I started over 3 months before I actually quit. The first month and a half was horrible. I had about 6 weeks in there that I was positive it wasn't going to work.

The best advice I can give is don't focus so much on quitting right away. Just focus on making vaping as good as it can be for you. There's a lot of stories about how people picked up their first PV, and that was it. That doesn't always happen.

I was an old die hard menthol smoker. The best thing I ever did was give up on menthol vapes and just looked for whatever else tasted good. I haven't had anything menthol (other than mint gum) in over a year. That may help.

Good luck and HAPPY VAPING:)

I'm really glad you came here rather than lighting a cigarette. I hope you find your answer. Cartomizers, fluxomizers and supplies with plastic tubing or filler material make me cough. I think I'm allergic to the stuffing/filler in cartomizers and sensitive to something in the plastic tubing when it heats up from vaping. The only way I can vape cough-free and satisfied is dripping into an atomizer. It takes a little patience to learn but worth it. For me it was essential.

If the plastic tubing is leeching chemicals into your juice or filler doesn't agree with you that could be the issue. We're all guessing, each with a unique vaping experience.

Here's a thread on extracting tobacco. Since you DIY maybe it's worth a try? http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/liquid-extraction-tobacco/

If you decide to drip and need pointers PM me. Happy to help. Hope you find your satisfying, happy vape quickly. Be well.

Coughing from vaping for a while at first is normal and this will pass as your body adjusts. You lungs are used to warm dry smoke particles filling them. Now you have different particles made of cooler moister vapor. Your lungs have simply not acclimated themselves to this change yet. Aside from that using 100% VG can make this worse because the juice is so thick and heavy. Perhaps you could try to add just enough PG or perhaps a 50/50 ratio for a week and see how your lungs feel. ( that is only if you are not allergic to PG) Also some ingredients in some flavors can be harsh and irritate the lungs especially any flavors made with alcohol. Please try to stick with it because it's the best thing aside from cold turkey you can do for your body.

...hang in there...try other things besides the tanks/fluxos...some Boge cartos or dripping may be the answer...please don't give it up and return to the funkarettes...please.................

p.s keep in mind the dehydrating effect of vaping and keep a glass of water handy, sipping while you vape and try adding a little lemon to it as well...I find this can help with the scratchy throat...also, try varying(if you haven't already) the way you take a draw off the PV...good luck...........mj

I have been vaping for quit a while(1 1/2 yrs) and had trouble to. somedays 4-5 anologs and others more than a pck. I just started using snus and it is much easier. ejuice is just missing a bit on its own. after a week I just use snus when the anolog need hits and vaping is not quite enough. I do suggest swedish to the camel/marlboro it is much stronger in nic. camel/marboro is really sweet which I am liking but not all the time. so I break it up for how strong I need and if I want super sweet.

also avoid buying analogs no matter how much you want one. if a craving hits distract youself till it passes read, watch tv, vaccume, anything. mega cravings are now passing for me in a min or 2. so far its been a week.

Some people have to experiment with different equipment, juices and such for quite a while before they find that magic combination. Not all of us quit smoking right away, either. I wouldn't consider you to be a failure, but just the opposite! You are a vaping success simply because you haven't thrown in the towel and I don't think you're going to, either!

If you're smoking less then that is success. If you're enjoying your PV and not having a lot of trouble with it then that is also success in my book. Do you have any idea how many people haven't made it where you have right now? PLENTY! You came in here looking for advice and support. THAT IS SUCCESS!

I'm not sure what's causing the coughing, but I'm going to suggest that you increase the amount of water that you drink and try sucking on some throat lozenges or hard candy. You also might want to change the way you inhale. Try inhaling in your mouth and don't try to do a full inhale. Take smaller hits. While VG shouldn't be as harsh as PG, the flavoring might also be causing you to cough. Some flavors just have a stronger throat hit than others. I have a peach flavor that will knock me out of my seat, even with a high percentage of VG!

If PG gives you problems try thinning with water. Keep trying, keep experimenting and I'm sure you'll find your vaping nirvana.

Have you tried the tobacco flavors from Halo?? They are great! The really help me when I have that "gotta have tobacco nic fix now!" ha ha My faves are Tribeca, Prime, Freedom and Torque. I actually mix Freedom and Torque with Prime, great cigarette tobacco flavor for me. They saved me from going back to analogs. bnrk

I read somewhere on here that the nicotine we absorb from vaping is absorbed through the mucous tissues of the mouth and nose more than the lungs, so maybe you don't need to inhale it into your lungs(and can stop the coughing)

some people that are not satisfied with reg nic juice have had been luck with WTA. Only sold at a couple of vendors so far

good luck- I hope you find what works for you

Taste in juice is extremely subjective. It's a great company but I don't particularly care for their juice.

Try inhaling like this...draw into your mouth, open mouth, inhale. Vaping is a tad bit different than smoking.

Drink tons of water.

We all had to get used to it in some form or other. Give this way of inhaling a try. Part of quitting smoking is in your head as well. You have to be "determined" to quit. Good luck to you.

I didn't read all the posts, but the flavors that you have been mixing are the ones I've read on another thread that people were using for the sole purpose of getting a good throat hit at low nic levels.

That throat hit may be translating into coughing for you. Can you cut back on how much you are putting in? I vape the unflavored stuff that you're using for your mixing- try it plain and then add from there?

Just keep on trying! Some good things take effort.

Instead of trying to find a juice you're in love with, find one you can tolerate at least until you get off cigs. Just because you found the juice in prefilled carts harsh doesn't necessarily mean you have an issue with pg. You might just have an issue with that particular vendor.

My mom vaped 36 for the first couple weeks to get her off cigs then she dropped down to 6. But as a long time smoker that's what she needed to stop smoking. After you've been vaping for a few weeks and you got off cigs this becomes much easier as time goes by.

Make sure you don't buy your favorite brand of cigs. If your cigs taste better than vaping, you're going to smoke. I just had RYO tobacco around when I first started vaping. If I wanted a cig that bad, I'd have to roll one of those nasty things.
