Why do Vapers think they don't stink?

Normal laundry detergent is petroleum-based, and leaves something on fabrics that can hold odors, like bacteria from sweat, and cigarette smoke. Switching to one of those natural enzyme-type detergents will do the trick. In a pinch, adding some vinegar and/or baking soda to your wash can help a bit. I use Meyer's Clean Day, it does it for me :)

In the bath, shampoos and conditioners remain on your skin and hair, and can often hold smoke odors. I use Bronner's castille soaps, but there are others,

As a cigar smoker in an earlier life, I used to always carry a small can of Ozium air spray, usually cleans a room of smoke odors.

Oh, and of course hair sprays, gels... these also can hold odors once they set in your hair.

It's tough to figure out just what you might be using that keeps the smell of a vape on you.

I personally try to vape only delicious flavors, and the few strange ones I have (like Mesquite tobacco, Parma Violet and Green Cow) I save for early morning/late night when I'm alone. Better safe than sorry!

WoW
I had no idea that regular laundry detergents would cause your clothing to hold odors in the fibers... How do you completely get rid of the ordinary detergents, then? I always make sure that whoever is doing my laundry is sure to put my clothing through an extra rinse cycle, is that good enough?

I think I've heard your name before.. Ourei.. Maybe with more of an L on the end of it.. It is a Hawaiian name??? I ran into some Jersey girls in an airport awhile back and they had just come back from Maui. They told me that it's just beautiful, there. Is there alot of humidity? What's the average temperature?

Nno one ever claimed there was NO smell at all... At least I've never seen that claim.... There is a HUUUGE difference between stinking and smelling. Stink = bad odor. Smell = somethin that has a scent, period. Whether it's pleasant or not it has a scent. The majority of liquids produce a pleasant smell if any at all. I'd never consider any second hand vapor to smell badly.

Exactly.. Most non smokers, I believe, when they encounter a smoker they probably smell it strong enough that it seems like being in a smoke filled bar would to a smoker. That's the only time a smoker can really detect smoke, when they're in an environment all but impregnated with tobacco smoke.

Smelling e-cig vapor, assuming someone isn't using some off of the wall flavor, can be very pleasing to a non smoker. I know that some people like my minty vapor!!

PS: If you vaped mesquite tobacco around me, I'd probably tease you about the smell and feign disgust just to play with you!! LoL over here. :)

Hawaii! Yay haha
THE: Oh, that Mesquite Tobacco flavor is the smelliest stuff ever! It was a 'flavor of the month' and it tastes like you're vaping a bbq grill. The room fills with that mesquite smell and everyone in the next room can smell it without even trying.

At night I mix it with chocolate and it's not so bad. But by itself, I'm certain it qualifies in this thread as 'pure over-the-top nasty stank' :D

About cleaning laundry, adding a cup of baking soda during the wash cycle with your detergent can help clean the petroleum stuff on your clothes that hold odor-causing bacteria. But if you keep using the same detergent, you'll have to keep using the baking soda. Adding half a cup to a cup of vinegar during the rinse cycle (you can put it in the fabric softener area of your washer's liquid compartment prior to washing) will help get rid of the actual bacteria - but put too much vinegar and you'll have vinegar-smelling clothes! The easiest way to deal with odors is to switch to an enzyme-type all-natural detergent. Certain clothes (like Under Armour underwear) really hold onto petroleum detergents. If they start to stink, you only have to put on a clean one for about an hour and there's going to be a stinky cheese smell. That's proof you're using a bad detergent. If you have any piece of clothing that's particularly stink, use that as your guide when experimenting with your washing.

:offtopic:
My name is Japanese, but a lot of Hawaiian names sound similar, as the Hawaiian alphabet is very close to Japanese (which is why most Japan foreigners can come to Hawaii and say words like Kamehameha and Humuhumunukunukuapua'a with relative ease and sound very Hawaiian!).

Hawaii's current temperature usually runs in the low 80's (it was very cool today) but humidity is always through the roof. You'll sweat buckets when you're here!

It sounds perfectly awful... even worse if you add chocolate to it.. but nowhere near as bad as a burning tobacco smell or taste, so, I won't give you TOO MUCH hell :D

I vape tobacco juices mostly and no one, not even my dental hygienist, has said that they detected anything. I vaped in my doctor's examining room for a demo and he said he smelled nothing (USA Mix). The dental hygienist remarked that she didn't know I was a smoker when I told her that I had all but quit and started vaping, and she said that she can always detect a smoker. It comes through the pores, according to her.

I had an almost similar experience as you, Dave. I had a regular dental checkup last week, my first since I started vaping.

I thought maybe my dentist could detect something in my gums or teeth, but everything was perfectly healthy. I also vaped all day long before the checkup, and absolutely no mention of smoking came up by my dentist!

I was very pleased with that and vaped as soon as I stepped out of the office ;)

Neither here nor there
Dr. Bronner's castille soaps can be used for anything, including laundry, washing dishes, mopping the floor, cleaning yourself. I like the Almond one for most things but the Peppermint is great for getting an extra cool and clean feeling after a hard day of yard work, and I like it for cleaning the house.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread, just spreading the love for Dr. Bronner's soaps.

:ohmy::drool::hubba::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:.........OMG...TFF....thats hysterical!!! ROTF...hehehe

It's not a big deal when compared to cigarette smoke, and can even be a big plus:

1. Put spousal unit on a diet.

2. Start vaping their favorite candy flavor like chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla or coconut.

3. Bow-chicka-bow-wow!

The worst vapor smell is still a million times more pleasant than the best analog smell. I wonder if part of it is your sense of smell coming back? Maybe think of it as a good thing instead!

That's another great thing about not smoking... your sense of smell grows back!! It's not always a good thing, like when you go into someones house.. But I notice that regular fresh air smells just so good now that I'm not smoking. Steaks taste better. Thunderstorms, which I LOVE, smell even better ... the rain and the lightning .. ozone like smell.. grrr. What a helluva aphrodisiac Grrrrrr

Smoking is so antisexual in so many ways whereas vaping just isn't .. I love it!!

I always had to wash my hands after brushing my teeth at night before bed. All I could smell was cigarette odor. Now, I just smell ... Skin!

There are some tobacco flavors that have a strong, almost unpleasant odor to them. RY4 is one, 555 is another. USA Mix is not bad.

I've done the vape test on several of my friends. I ask them to tell me what they smell and then exhale in their direction. So far, no one has been able to detect anything much. They tell me they smell nothing or say "maybe there's a little difference, but not anything I'd notice if you hadn't asked me". Most of them, including my doctor, noticed no odor in the vapor.

OTOH, if I eat at the Waffle House I smell onions and chili seasoning on my clothes for the next three hours.
