Why do we need to take a step backwards in our struggle to promote the switch to vaping?

So I see a very negative trend sweeping across the vaping nation and it has me up in arms. I know we are all allowed our own choices in life and we have to live with the outcome to those choices, yet I will never understand the need to replicate illicit flavors.

We fight the stigma that we are smoking and the zealots are quick to jump onto us for that. Now throw in the fact that we are fighting all the time for our own rights to enjoy our addiction to nicotine against our govenments and the so called health organizations. Why do we feel the need to replicate the smell and taste of the illegal substances? Why do we want to promote something that in the short run and long run could only damage what we have all been fighting for for so long?

vaping has saved my life and my wifes life as well as the people we have helped make the switch.

I would hate to see it all for nothing because vendors want to make a few extra bucks by selling illicit flavored juice. The smell of these juices would cause you to spend countless hours out of your life trying to explain that it's not actual !@$#.... but that it is a flavor. It is unwise and ultimately very foolish to walk around in public trying to promote vaping and have been reported to the local authorities for doing illegal substances just because you found a juice that smelled like it.

Please if your care about vaping and you don't want to have another hurdle to overcome in our right to choose to switch from cigs to vaping, help the uninformed vaper to make the choice not to promote these types of juices.

Not gonna get a lot of traction on this one here since discussion of illegal drugs is banned anyway. And the idea of vaping something that smells like "that" for the sake of smelling like "that" just seems really stupid. Must be what the kewl kidz are doing or something.

yeah, the same kids that are giving vaping a bad image like this -->

and then wonder why so many new laws and regulations..

It may not be for the sake of smelling like that, some people really love the flavor, same as tobacco smokers. The flavor question naturally has a wide spectrum, from citrus-like, to pineish, to fruity, to earthy, it's really akin to fine wine tasting to experienced connoisseurs. IMO better than tobacco's flavor.

I have seen the "flavors" on some of my choice online vendors and then two of my local shops have started selling the "flavor" as well. I would just hate for us to take a huge fall backwards off a cliff into a sinkhole drowning in a flood of lava because no matter what we think, it only takes a moment from a zealot and a few well paid government officials to bring these "flavors" to the front of the media and start turning it all around to start spewing that it is the new "GATEWAY" for our children to taste the illicit flavors.

I know what the actual stuff tastes like, what the effects are and for the love of all that is, I 100% agree that it is a choice for anyone to try it or not to try it. But when we as vaper's are fighting for our rights on a constant daily basis, it only adds another mountain that we will be faced with when it gets thrown in the media circus ring.

Vaping, I truly believe is a savior for many smokers who can't/won't give up nicotine yet they want to give up the thousands of carcinogens found in cig's. I only voice this because it is MY opinion and want others to try to see the damage it does to the whole as opposed to the individual. I don't fault the vendor's for trying to make money and offer more flavor's, but I wish they would improve on other things before trying to replicate the flavors that can only cause us issues.

I can see your point eric, of even more concern to me is the ones who use vaping like setups to actually use the real substance these flavors mimic. Oddly the laws seem to be changing to allow the use of the substance in question, while at the same time tightening the noose around what was always legal.

If the flavors that are supposed to replicate "that" are anything like the incense they sell at the flea market that's supposed to smell like "that", it's probably nothing like "that".

I'm not interested in "that" or anything that tastes or smells like "that" (I'm more of a single-malt kind of guy) but hey, whatever floats your boat, I guess.

The closest thing I've smelled to "that" is burning sage stick used for "cleansing".... both smells nauseate me and hope I'm never near anyone vaping one of the simulations especially in a closed space. I do agree that it doesn't help with public perceptions and, additionally, creates just another law enforcement problem that could affect me personally as a vaper. But do I think "to each their own?" Yes, of course. I just wish people would be a little more thoughtful about public behavior.

When my boys went through the "gotta look like a stoner" phase with their black rocker shirts and dangling razer blade earrings, I told them that as wanna bes they also had to be prepared to suffer similar consequences to the real deals... including how they get treated... and not to come whining to me when they don't like how that goes down.
