I can't see the pic of the Vapezilla...runs to Google...
BTW2 - If I turn on "Filtering" in IE I can't see it also.
BTW3 - Our Friend started to get Cranky Yesterday. I Almost sent out a "Bat Signal" to you. LOL

No, I use the term mod because the term APV irritates me. It's more inaccurate of what it's trying to describe than mod is. The only e-cig that I know of that could be accurately described as an APV is a hybrid. The rest are battery mods, not vaporizers.A LONG time ago, this term actually DID apply to anything that wasn't a stick battery, because the only devices that were available that weren't stick batts WERE "mods"--flashlights, laser pointers, mint boxes, whatever--that people MOD-ified to be power sources for using with e-cig cartos and atomizers. Eventually, the manufacturers caught up with the demand for advanced devices, and well, vapers are a pretty lazy lot, and tend to have a lot of techno-geeks in their ranks, and so they tend to like short, cute code words and jargon, so the term "mod" sort of "stuck". Rather than call these devices what they ARE, we continue to call them "mods" because, well, we're basically to lazy to vocalize 3 letters as an acronym (APV) or even TWO syllables (PV).
So why do we call them "mods"--because vapers are lazy... ;-)

Mod isn't necessarily the most accurate description either. But, I feel it's at least a better description than APV. A Vamo, Silver Bullet, Provari, or whatever is a battery holder/power controller. It is not a vaporizer. Now, APC (advanced power controller) I would go for. But, not APV.
People can use whatever term they want. But, APV is not a superior terminology. And, mod is not just a lazy terminology. Mod, at least, makes SOME sense. It's a modification of the cig/cigar style battery.
Vapers lingo. For example : "This clearo mutes the taste of my juice".
The word mute isn't appropriate but it's the word vapers use to describe a dull taste usually created by silica wick. Why it came about is a mystery, I still use the word "dull"

Actually, the words "mute" and "muted" have a history of being used to describe something as low-key or subdued that long predates the advent of vaping so I believe it's entirely appropriate (e.g. muted colors when referring to a painting or muted flavor when referring to wine or food).
I don't use the term "Mod" because I remember the day when a Mod was Built by an Individual out of Misc. Parts.
Here is a Good Example of a "Mod". The Infamous (and Somewhat Laughable) Vapezilla that some may Remember

I use the term PV for a Fixed Voltage Device. And VVPV for a Device that the Voltage can be Changed. Not sure what makes a PV or a VVPV an "APV" so I don't use it.

Thanks...just when I thought I had that nightmare buried deep.To the OP...I wouldn't sweat labels and allow them to confuse you.

I'm sorry, but I've never noticed anyone use the term Mod to refer to the entire device (battery and atomizer both). So, I'm not sure what you mean. However, the term APV could very well be applied to the entire unit since there is a vaporizer attached.I disagree because when 99% of the people are talking about their "mod," they are talking about the entire SYSTEM of a battery holder (advanced, or mechanical) AND the vapor-production device on top of it. Like a Provari AND the Z-Atty on it, or an eVic and the AMP Tank together as a system. Or a VAMO and a Vivi Nova.
And calling a mechanical non-regulated hybrid an "APV" is like calling a titanium sledge hammer with a carbon fiber handle an "advanced spike-driver". Hybrids are about as advanced, with regards to the technology they employ, as a campfire. The whole POINT of a hybrid is that they are VERY simple, electrically and electronically. The only thing "advanced" about most hybrids is the amount of money they drain from your bank account when you purchase them... ;-)
Modified is just a word. It can be applied to many things in many ways.BmoreDoug said:I thought mod stood for "mechanically operated device". You know, like a spring or magnetic switch on a device with nothing but a simple circuit and if volts or watts are adjustable, you have to do it with a screwdriver on the circuit board. But what do I know? I'm new.
I don't believe calling an Evic, provari, vamo, and such a mod is correct though. Idk
Modding is slang for modifying something that was not designed to be modified. No one considers putting drapes on your windows a mod, they were designed for that. A mod is a particular kind of modification.
I changed the Protank for an AGA-T, in other words I modded it.
