I don't want to be the grouchy old woman on here (I'm not THAT old, but older than most vapers) but an 18 y/o vaping to "get a buzz" is EXACTLY what the FDA wants to read about to use against us. If u still get a buzz, stay away from nicotine altogether. You aren't addicted YET. I could bore you with the physiology of nicotine addiction, but instead, just realize, most of us cannot even remember when a cigarette gave us a buzz.

I remember! It was 1975, at the skating rink on Friday nights! I'd get so dizzy, I'd have to sit out from skating for a while. I didn't want my 14 year old friends to think I was such a lightweight, so I just pretended I was too cool to skate every song!

But by 1976, I'd smoked for a year, and was able to skate every song -- which was much cooler at 15 than it was at 14, for some reason...

We should be a little careful what we post here. I'm sure the FDA has heard of the largest vaping forum & would love to find more ammunition in our own words.

wet blanket dropped on the thread, sorry. :)

Agreed on the bolded. We should separate the words nicotine and addiction until it's proven that nicotine alone has the power to cause addiction.

i also like calling it a personal vaporizer and not an e-cig

I call mine so many different things, my husband can't figure out what I'm talking about, half the time. :D Vape stick, mod, vape thang, vaporizer, e-cig, or, my primary one, I just call "Vamo". When I first started, I often called it "magic wand" -- POOF! nasty cigarettes vanished in a puff of... VAPOR! :D

It's NOT smoking, so please try to get past that phrasing.
It's important.
:)

I don't agree, vaping is smoking, in just a different manner. Vaping is a coil burning liquid at such a temperature that it vaporizes. The coil gets red hot to inhale the vapor, its just different then igniting a substance thats always burning but its not all that different.

No.... Vapor is not in any way smoke. You wouldn't call standing in a hot shower and breathing in the steam smoking would you?

I didn't say is was smoke and I'm not gonna even address your analogy because its way off. Have you not ever read a sign in a vape shop that's reads vaping the new way to smoke?? I've seen it many times.

That reminds me of this one time I burnt a whole pot of water to make some pasta. I'm pretty sure we're talking about the same thing.

PS I got to eat the pasta after it cooled down from getting red hot.

Vaping is the act of evaporating a liquid made of different solute components. It is a physical reaction and no molecules are modified in the process, they are just ecvaporated.

Smoking is the act of burning a solid, liquid or gas that creates a chemical reaction, which modifies most of every original component and combines or splits the molecules into molecules that were not in the original mix. It is a chemical reaction in which most original components are not present anymore in the after-product..

You can't burn water alone; It will simply evaporate. Capture the vapor and let it condense and you will again have water (and maybe some of the components of pasta such as starch). That is a physical reaction. Nothing is really modified on a molecular level. Decomposed pasta is just decomposed pasta, not some potentially harmful reaction unless you have gluten intolerance.

Then why do smokers want to vape?? Because its very simliar, no its not actually igniting something that's consistently burning but its very similar. If it wasn't no smoker would be interested in doing it.

It's about the feel, the action, part of the ritual, the nicotine satisfaction and the oh so similar clouds coming out. As you said it is very similar, yet on the physical/chemistry level has very little in common, but that's the good part; it is so much safer, will let you recover senses and the breath you had lost. It's only a simulation of smoking, but feels so much alike without the short breath, the nauseating stink that sticks to your clothes, skin and hair, car and house interior, the tar inside your lungs. It just has nothing to do with smoking other than the feel and the habit. Even the taste cannot even come close, yet the feeling and habit feel the same. It is smoking without smoking, without all the shortcomings and the possible death-sentence diseases... Just don't get me started on this tacky stuff, I can't help stopping myself ;)

Yeah, like im smoking 18mg right now and honestly its giving me a headache. I'm probably going to get something lower next time im at the shop. About to refill my tank with 12mg right now. However, that will probably give me a headache too. I guess I just bought high amounts right off the bat because im so used to smoking real cigarettes and I thought I would need it lol

how long did you smoke? i only smoked for three years and 24 mg wasnt enough even chain vaping

Not to get too personal but a friend of mine died a while back. Seizured in my car. Tried to get him to the hospital and he died in my passenger seat. I guess I have a little bit of ptsd at this point which is why I started smoking cigarettes. I quit yesterday and bought an ecig because I could tell it was getting out of hand. I wanted to quit before it got worse. I did away with alcohol too so I'm pretty clean at this point. Nothing but my ecig and I feel like a new man. Right now it's a crutch but I think it'll just turn into a hobby later. I'm smoking 24mg of nic as I write this and I hope that within a few months I'll be down to 3 or 6mg

Good job, man! Always happy to hear when people quit smoking and switch over to vaping. I did the same thing and I too started at 24mg juice.
