Why don't I ever see fellow vapers?

I personally don't think it has caught on and become mainstream yet... I tried quitting years ago on one of those ecigs from a convenience store and had terrible results with the quality of it so I just went back to analogs... recently I saw a friend with a true ecig ( Zmax ) and that is when I found this forum and quality ecigs... I wouldn't imagine it will be long before you see more people vaping...

I live in an absurdly large city, but not a one have I seen? Do you all try NOT to be seen vaping in public? Really not sure why this isn't more popular, especially in as health-conscious a city as mine? What gives?

You do live in a Absurdly Large City. You can’t drive on the 5 from San Clemente to the Grape Vine and not be surrounded by Humanity.

There are many Vaper’s in your basin. Some keep their vaping, like myself, low key when out in public. Not because it is wrong. But to avoid the Obligatory Questions.

Is that an e-Cigarette? How does it Work? How much dost it cost? Does it work? Etc.

I have found that most of the general public is not even aware of personal vaporizers as a nicotine replacement device. When people see me vaping in public on my larger APV's, they seem to ignore me. Those that are curious enough to ask what it is, I explain what it is and they look dumbfounded.

Then I say, some people call these "electronic cigarettes" and then they'll say, yeah, they have heard of those but never seen one, and never thought that they would be as large as what I use.

Many people who have heard of these have misconceptions of them. Things like, "You know the liquid in those use radiator fluid." or "I've heard those are more dangerous than regular cigarettes. One even exploded in someone's mouth." :glare:

Then you got the jokesters. "What is that? Looks like a _______!" (insert dildo, hookah, illegal herbal or c___ pipe, etc)

The strangest response I've gotten is, "Hmmm. Do those really work?"
I mean, REALLY? Do you believe I'm just standing here blowing out water vapor because it looks cool? :2cool:

I might explain to them that I have been smoke free for 10 months because these things have worked for me where nicotine gum and patches failed.

I haven't wanted a real cigarette since quitting because I can vape fruit, candy, and coffee flavors instead of smoking a nasty cigarette.

I'm still consuming the nicotine that my body is dependent upon, just in a much safer manner. It makes "water vapor", not smoke, so its safer for me and everyone around me.

It's also cheaper than cigarettes once the battery devices are purchased.

But the most important factor is - I HAVE SAVED MY LIFE !

I do believe vaping is catching on, and quickly. I've been vaping for about 10 months. I've demonstrated my setups to family, friends, and co-workers. Just in the last couple of months have they come around to asking where to get these, a few have already made their first purchase of a APV.

A brick and mortar (vape shop) Altsmoke store will be opening in my city within the next few weeks. I believe most people are more likely to buy from a storefront business than from an online vendor. I think I will begin to see more people vaping here within a year's time.

I hear you.

I think that the “Death Blow“ to e-Cigarettes came when the FDA randomly sampled a Major e-Liquid producer’s e-Liquid and found trace Contaminates.

I can’t tell you how many Non-Vapers have mentioned how e-Liquids are full of Hazardous Chemicals and are Worse than Cigarettes.

That and the confusion between Ethylene Glycol and Propylene Glycol doesn't exactly help.

becuase they say "look it's that dork again - hide your PV's or he will come over here and bother us"

J/K - when i do see them they dont seem to be chain vapors like me they puff a bit and put it away. following the old cig style of smoking. so it is harder to see them. like the one doctor who stops by our company he waits till my boss goes for a cig then gets his out of the car. fills up his atty and when cig brak is over he puts it away. he laughs at me standing there with my provari and geni all day lol

I work for a very small health care team at a private residence. Funny thing is, there are three vapers there, one being me! I JUST found out that two of the other girls were vapers - and one of those ladies shops at the same vape shop I do! I've worked with them three years, lol. I guess it's just not something people walk around doing, unless you're me of course.

I did when I was an "innocent"... that is before I came here basically and heard about the public's bias/discrimination, the FDA, cops, etc. Now I only vape at home or in the car when not in town. Originally, I was glad to share myself with even my dentist who asked about how I quit smoking and I still do share but only with acquaintances. For every 100 smokers out there looking for a way to quite, there is at least one nut job who will make anti-vaping their next pet campaign just as they did smoking and we all know how effective they were. I enjoy it too much to see it banned which is already happening.

For over 1 1/2 years, I'd only seen one other vaper in the wild. I looked on the "Location Specific" section of this forum one day, and found that there were a couple groups in my area. Since that time, we've created a couple groups on Facebook, and even have in person meet ups regularly. We swap juices, check out each other's devices, show off our stuff, and help one another out. There are a couple B&M stores within an hour of me, and we even hang out at the shops sometimes. Vapers are out there. You just have to beat the bushes to find them.

The crime and sheer ignorance abound in the minds around me would clearly have me in police presence fast as if I have discovered a new, portable REACTOR!
That or I'm consuming something else...
Where I'm at, not just ONE apple has spoiled the bunch, I live in a friggen' mash vat at a distillery in terms of rotten apples!

I live in a large city, too...and have only seen one vaper in the wild. Other than my husband, of course! haha! But I know they are here. All over the place. There are vape shops here (just not close to me...the land mass for Jax is HUGE) and there are plans for many more to open in the next couple of years. When people see me vaping out in public I don't even get a blink or second look...and only two people have asked me about it. They were both interested in getting one themselves. When I was in Harbor Freight buying a multi-meter, I pulled out my box mod with a 6ml. tank attached, and the cashier dude was completely unfazed. Apparently he was quite familiar with the concept. The workers at Mayo Clinic were also unfazed when I lost one of my PVs on the campus. Some even went so far as to try to help me find it!

We are out there. But we blend in really well, apparently. And seems like most people around here know about "e-cigs" and don't pay much attention to us vapers.
