Why don't we see more ego-threaded mods?

No, but I have seen them strip on an eVic!

It seems like most if not all of the Chinese mods use soft substandard metal for their 510 connection. They pinch pennies and use crappy materials so that now we have threads like this. Moral of the story is don't blame the connection, blame the company that made said connection.

How people had the base on their Protank snap at its base? Tons. You had this heavy metal and glass tank sitting on a wee little 510. Sure, they may have saved some money using softer metals, but just a couple of dollars could price a device out of the market, especially now that that tank has direct competition. Why did Kanger use the 510s? Like has been said, while only some people could use ego threads, just about everyone can use 510s. Eliminating the market share of ego devices from the equation, which connection do you think Kangertech would have preferred to use? A bunch of retailers have notes telling people to use the attached ego threaded cone cover to stabilize it if they can. And to those that can't?

We are starting to see larger devices come with egos... like the Vision Victory... if that was glass and not plastic, I'd def grab it over the Protank, event the PTII, based mostly on the fact that I wouldn't have to worry about a 510 base. That's why I'll probably pick up a Protank Mini at some point...

Substandard delivery device on top of a sub standard PV. If people would stop buying crap then maybe they would stop making crap.

Oh, you got a couple of spares? That changes my opinion... I've been rotating the same 5 or 6 coils on my evods for, going on the third month... and that isn't even with a rebuild. Now that I have the stuff to build coils, I might pick a couple up.

LOL, I have been using the original EVOD head since June 3rd. I just clean and dry burn it about every 7-10 days. It still vapes like the day I got it. I did buy a few extra heads when I got it but haven't needed them yet. All i can say is these seem very dependable.

Yep... the Aero is high on my list. My only hesitation is that I haven't found any replacement coils yet.

edit: there they are... at MadVapes, but only at 3 ohm

Along with a very angry review... heh

Looking at the ARO, it seems like standard EVOD or ProTank heads should work. I have heard that is the case for both the Vision V-Tox and Vision Victory series so it would not be a stretch for the ARO to have followed suit.

If anyone has an ARO and can try a standard EVOD or Pro Tank head, please let us know. It would be awesome to get EVOD performance in a "juice safe" delivery system.

Personally, I have no need for devices that are Ego threaded. If a ProVari, for example, had both Ego threads and 510, then the carto tank and RBA people would need to cover them. If some wants to use an evod or ProTank on a ProVari, an adapter is needed. Either way, someone is ...... off. I prefer choice (to not have Ego threading), especially at that price point.

You are definitely entitled to your opinions but I would like to point out a few things.

1. Having both threads on a mod provides more choices not less so i am not sure why dual threading bothers you.
2. Having both on a Provari does not mean than carto tank and RBA makers have to start making eGo threading, the 510 part still works just fine.
3. ProTanks are 510 threaded and do not require an adapter for Provari's. The EVODs do need the adapter.
4. Many mods that used to be 510 threaded only, have recently moved to dual threading (Vamo and SVD to name two). The 510 delivery devices still work on the new versions just fine, but the eGo option is now there just in case.

If someone were to make a quality ego threaded juice delivery device I might change my tune, but so far there aren't any. Most if not all tank systems that are coming out of china are through away pieces of garbage. They have weak connections, cheap glass or plastic that breaks easily, and are held together with glue.

Aside small ego batteries, most mods are flush or flush-ish, which makes the 510 connection just fine, as the mizer rests on itself and not on the 510. And on the protank (and others), the mizer will also rest on a cone when mounted on a ego battery.

There have been MANY people that have had the 510 threading break off of a Kanger Protank and get stuck in Provari's and other 510 mods.

Personally I love the EVOD, and now Vision has made an EVOD like device with a larger capacity. You are correct though that both are made out of materials that certain juices can erode. The EVOD though seems pretty sturdy to me and has survived a few drops with no issues so far. then again it is also wrapped in an aluminum housing.

I do wish they would make a larger EVOD type device with Pyrex and then wrap that in aluminum for protection and with eGo threading. In other words something with a large capacity, good performance, juice proof, and drop resistant....what more could you ask for?

I'm not going to bag on the EVOD because I have one that I toss on a twist for going to concerts and stuff where I won't mind if it get's lost or broken in the mosh pit. It's a fine little device for 7$ or whatever they cost, though I hate that they flood when they get below about 40% full. That being said, it doesn't change the fact that it's not that great in comparison to other delivery devices which I think is maybe what the poster you were replying to was saying. The vape I get off a silica RDA or something like a terminator is much much better than anything on the market that has an EGO thread on it.

Why? Looking at a the connection of a Provari, I see no reason to keep Provape from incorporating ego threading and making it look pretty much identical to how it looks now. They might just have to make the well a little deeper... not a big deal.

If I throw a tank or my RDA on my Vamo, everything is tucked away inside the well, you can't seen any ego threads. As it stands now, I am considering picking up a small ego cone cover so I can tuck it in here, hidden away, for support.

Hell, the vape I get off a carto tank is better and more reliable than any clearo I've tried (and I have tried them all). I get why everyone seems to like these clearos. They are easy to use and when they work they are awesome, but the problem is that when they don't work (which is a lot) they are infuriating. That and (to the point of this thread) they are made like crap. I have never had a problem with a simple cartomizer. Why can't Kangar make a 510 connection that's worth a damn? Boge can.

Well, they would have to do two things for sure. They would have to redisign the top cap. The way it is now, most if not all ego threaded devices wouldn't fit. Not a big deal depending on who you ask. I personally like the top cap design. It's become iconic in the vaping community.

Second, ego threading would make it a longer device. One of the main reasons I like my mini is because of how small it is. It's way smaller than any other VV/VW device that I've seen. I would hate for it to be longer just to accommodate ego threading that I would never use.

What I am getting at is not that Provape et al. should be making ego threaded devices so that they can natively fit something like an Evod... what I am saying is that of the two mounts, the ego mount is far more stable and durable, especially for those larger, heavier, high end devices that are exclusively 510 currently... Its like they all make their stuff 510, because that's how it has always been. That 510 wasn't designed for an RSST, it was designed for a little, narrow atty/cart.

Designs have moved forward, but sticking with that 510 connection is like putting cast iron drum brakes on a Veyron.
