Why full size when the mini can potentially be both?

The extension on the mini is only capable of handling a 18490/18500 battery, whereas the full with the extension can take a 18650. You can get a non-factory extension (known as the 'Twins') to use a 18650 with the mini, however, Provari doesn't sell one to use the 18650 with it by default. The capacity difference from a 18650 to a 18490/18500 is about 50% higher (12-1400mAh for 18500's, 2400-3000mAh for 18650's)

I got the full size. Having held both the mini was not really that much smaller in my opinion to warrant the price. Plus battery life was more important to me than how compact it is. And being able to upgrade to the 18650 down the line with an extension cap from Provari versus a 3rd party manufacturer was the final push to get the full size.

These photos might help with hands included in the pics for size comparison. The first pic is of a Mini, the second a full sized Provari with a rare chrome extension cap.

Provari with ext. cap; Provari with normal cap; Mini Provari.

A Mini with ext. cap will be the same length as a standard Provari.

my hands are like 5-6 inches from palm to middle finger tip. Large PVs are ridiculous in my hands.
so I'll probably never have a standard provari. If I bought another one tomorrow I'd get another mini.
I have a ton of 18650 mods and the size isn't worth the length.

With PVs, even a quarter inch is a lot. Every bit makes it longer than i can handle.

I bought the Twins to use on my current V1 ProVari. I know, "why?" when the extension cap works fine. Well, I had already decided that at some point I was going to buy a mini, mostly because the teardrop pattern appeals to me. The new 2.5 "Ribbed for your pleasure" doesn't really strike my fancy, though I may get one at some point.

The extension cap for the ProVari has a rounded bottom and I tend to knock stuff over often. With the extension tube and regular battery cap, the ProVari is much more stable. I'd estimate that when I get it, the Mini will stay in 18350 mode 90% of the time. But when I'm camping, I'm going to want and need that 18650 option. :)

Batteries : AW Protected 18650 3400 mAh
anyone know how long a 3,400 mAh battery would last? I already get over a day with my 2,500 mAh batteries.

A long time but I wonder what the amp limit on the protection is and also, a 3400 mah protected battery is going to be long.

That's a protected battery. Provape recommends using only IMR batteries, which you probably are aware of.

Have you been using protected batteries in your Provari? I had read that the Provari doesn't like the protection circuits in those batteries and throws out an error code or refuses to fire with them. Maybe the 1.0 version isn't so picky?
