OK I just managed to score 120ml of 100mg nicotine solution from Wizard. I haven't actually started my DIY experiments yet but figure since it's available today, I'll get it and store it away until I'm ready.

My question is, they also offer different percentages of nicotine and I was wondering, besides the price, is there some reason you would want to use, say, 60mg solution? It seems to me that 100mg would simply be easier to calculate and, yeah, it's $5 more but that's really negligible when you think how much more you'd be able to make out of it.

I started out at 100mg nicotine, it is the cheapest route. Having attended college for registered nursing I was well aware of safety after all the biology/microbiology/chemistry classes I'd taken. Had to handle some pretty gnarly substances while out in the field too. But I can understand that for most beginners it is scary and it should be, it's toxic! So I can see both sides of this, just for me I went the 100mg the first time around. So far so good and I'm very very careful but even then I'm cautious of it, it's nothing to play with or use with oversight. My full attention is used while drawing up what I need and it's capped ASAP! My hands and any spills are cleaned ASAP. Even at 60mg I'd be cautious. Anything over what I'd vape would be treated with great respect. All of it would require quick clean-up and hand washing.

Thanks for the cautious advice. I do have some nice thick rubber gloves and some safety goggles. I got the nic in a pg solution. Wondering now if that was the best choice but this is my first time, so I'll live and learn. It might be a while before I actually start mixing anything so I'm sure I'll be back here with lots more questions. It's good to know there's somewhere to turn to for advice.

I buy all my nic from WL, 100mg/ml in 100% VG. The first thing I do is cut it with 100% VG to my working strength of 20mg/ml. I put this "base" in 100ml glass bottles filled up to the neck and put them in my freezer until I'm ready to have a DIY session. Then I get out one 100ml bottle and work from there.

This does three things:

1. It minimizes the amount of time I'm handling the 100mg/ml nic. At this concentration, fumes and skin exposure can be quite dangerous, and I take all proper safety precautions at the stage when I'm diluting the 100mg/ml nic to working strength. (gloves, apron, eyewear, ventilation, handy sink, etc.)

2. It breaks a large plastic bottle (I buy 250ml of nic at a time) down into several smaller glass bottles. Easier to handle, and if—perish forbid—I should drop one, it's not quite such a disaster. Plus, amber glass bottles are much better for long-term storage.

3. Once a bottle of nic base is opened and partially used, it starts to deteriorate. By keeping my base in smaller bottles that will get used in a relatively short period of time once opened, my juices are always made with fresh nic.

Makes sense to me. YMMV

Sometimes 100mg is sold out and many people vape really low percentages so they don't need to buy that much bulk.

If you are a hobby dripper 6mg or less might be more then enough and 120ml might last you months. I have a friend who never smoked cigs but vaped other stuff for years and now vapes with 0mg because he simply enjoys vaping.

I'm new to vaping and thought I"d give DIY a shot because it is so much cheaper, not to mention most of the flavors that I've seen on the vendors kind of match up with the flavors that the flavor sellers sell...hmm interesting phrasing but I'm sure you folks can decipher my meaning.

I'd really rather not kill myself in my newbie DIY attempts so I didn't buy any higher nicotine than I'd vape. With the sales going on over the weekend I picked up something like 2700 mls for $75 that should keep me in eliquid for at least a year possibly 2. Bottles are going to be an issue but lets deal with one problem at a time.

Personally, I vape 36 mg, so I just order 36 mg. Then add a few drops of flavor which might knock it down to 32 mg. I can't tell the difference.

No mess, no measuring. Very simple.

Yes, you can save some money ordering 100 mg, but it's not much, and not worth my time or worrying about handling it.

DYI is incredibly cheaper than buying pre-mixed juices either way.

BUT whether i go lower to zero or stay here at 14 i want enough nic to store and last me for awhile because
i figure the only thing the will go after is nic itself..

I was wondering about this myself. I bought some 60mg over the weekend. So it won't hurt anything if I go ahead and cut it down to my 18mg, and store it that way? Thought it would be easier and safer. Also, why the freezer? Does that help keep it from deteriorating?
