Agreed, Caution and care should always be taken and you should have plans ahead of time in case there is a spill. No matter how careful you are, mistakes can and do happen. I am quite close to my sink also and another 2 steps to the full shower. I also use a spill tray (cookie sheet) that I do all my mixing on. I also wear tight latex gloves and glasses. I NEVER want to get any in my eye... That reminds me. I need an eye wash thingamabob. I will get one asap. Doesn't hurt to have one.

Well I do wear glasses, can't see without them, so my eyes are somewhat protected.

Has anyone had a reaction from spilling some on themselves? I got some 50mg on the back of my wrist "once" by stupidly turning my chair and bumping the table, knocking over my mixing cylinder). I washed it off pretty quickly and had no issues... No headache, no dizziness, no upset stomach. What gives? Was I lucky or something? It did scare me though.

Not to downplay the hazard of nicotine in saying this but I use 60mg because it's 40% safer then 100mg. I cut it down and keep a few 250ml bottles of different strengths on my desk. I get it on my hands all the time when opening containers in fact I even lick it (I'm obviously not normal) from my fingers. The tiny bit that gets on me is not a big deal for my body to tolerate. But that's not to say someone else is not going to be that much more sensitive. Everyone is different some people can eat a bottle of pills and live to tell about it. Others meet the fate they likely intended after doing something foolish.

If you get a tiny but on your skin just rinse it off asap and be done with it. However if you get a reaction the best thing is to call poison control. The one thing I see often is people mention all this safety gear. But none or that will save your hide if you do get poisoned. So the best safety gear to have is the number to poison control somewhere easy to find. I have a fridge magnet that has all the emergency numbers one might need including poison control. It's a good place to have it because our kitchens tend to have lots of chemicals including cleaning agents. You could even program it into your phone since there is always the potential for a child to get hold of your e-juice.

OK I just managed to score 120ml of 100mg nicotine solution from Wizard. I haven't actually started my DIY experiments yet but figure since it's available today, I'll get it and store it away until I'm ready.

My question is, they also offer different percentages of nicotine and I was wondering, besides the price, is there some reason you would want to use, say, 60mg solution? It seems to me that 100mg would simply be easier to calculate and, yeah, it's $5 more but that's really negligible when you think how much more you'd be able to make out of it.
I do not like the smell and fumes that 100mg gives off, but I'm odd that way lol.

Like some others have said, 60mg nic base divided by 3 parts VG gives me several bottles of 20mg nic base which tben becomes a bit more diluted when I add a few drops of flavors to give me anywhere from 15 to 19mg nic e-liquids. Sometimes I even make and vape 12mg nic base, unflavored!:p
Depending on what I want at the time, I sometimes use my 48mg nic base and dilute with half VG for my 24mg nic unflavored base etc. It's all about the math;)

Actually, I just don't like using 100mg, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it:laugh:

Yea ever since I read about unpleasant odors emanating from some 100mg, and the added risk of nicotine oxidation, I decided to just go w/ 60mg. Would have only saved a few nickels, and not really worth it just to have the most potent. I plan on mixing my 60mg down to 24mg, and then when I add upwards of 20% flavoring, I'll be at ~19mg which sounds just right to me.

I have a question and I'm not trying to downplay the safety aspect of handling nicotine in higher strengths (ALWAYS TREAT IT LIKE IT WILL KILL YOU).

WARNING: I am not responsible if you mishandle your nicotine! Always use proper safety equipment, attire and handling procedures... Gloves, apron, face mask and/or goggles... Wear a hazmat suite if you have one.

I spilled some 100mg on myself and became very nauseated and light headed for awhile. It is very scary!!!!!

I'll choose my concentrate strength to make the simplest ratios for mixing my base liquid, and then add flavors.

1 part 60mg and 2 parts VG or PG = 20mg base
1 part 50mg and 1 parts VG or PG = 25mg base (don't use that high anymore..:))
1 part 48mg and 1 parts VG or PG = 24mg base
1 part 48mg and 3 parts VG or PG = 12mg base
1 part 36mg and 1 parts VG or PG = 18mg base
1 part 36mg and 3 parts VG or PG = 9mg base

Depends on what level base you use, and I figure adding flavors will drop the level 1-2mg, as I'm usually closer to 5% flavor than 10 or 20% flavor (just my preference YMMV)

I feel rather strongly members have a responsibility to steer noob DIY'ers clear of higher nic solutions. And indeed to actively discourage the highest concentrations. Many will simply lack requisite skills, caution or understanding.

Indeed it's likely best they start by buying at or near desired strength and then experimenting with flavors. Many/most will not need to do anything else. Thanks for help spreading this word.
