Yes, that's flooding. You're probably overfilling your cartridges/cartomizer or you're dripping in too much if you are dripping. Unscrew the atomizer or cartomizer from the battery. Put a paper towel around the end of the atty/carto where the threads are and blow through the other end. When you blow through it, juice will come out the threaded end. Blow really hard, until no more juice is coming out. Use the paper towel to wipe all of the threads off and to swab out where you screw into the battery. Reassemble and try again.

It does matter. When your atty is flooded it will run too hot and can ruin the atty. It also doesn't produce much vapor when it's flooded, so you won't be getting much, if anything.

Also, I don't clean my attys much. I think people clean them too often and end up ruining them. When I do clean them, I only do the dry burn method. When I first stated I ruined my favorite atty by trying to clean it with hot water, so I don't do that anymore.

There are probably as many different ways of doing things as there are posters here, so read a lot, then decide what you think makes the most sense to you.

Yes, the gurgling is flooding. The leaking is REALLY flooding. :D I've done both and still do sometimes.

There's a point where you have the wick and bridge of the atomizer wet, but not swimming in juice. That's the best spot.

You're very welcome, tstcvap-er. One of the best things about this forum is that everyone here wants everyone else to succeed.

Thanks so much, I haven't really tried cleaning the whole thing as of yet...just the carts and the wicking material...I guess it is time to give the atty a try!!

Do you ever need to clean the top of the batter also? If so, how?

Is it a manual battery?

I usually use a cotton swab to get the loose juice off the battery. I haven't used auto batteries because of the danger of juice leaking into it and ruining it.

I found a way that works for me since I vape heavily and need to clear the atties nightly or they just flood and get messy the next day.

Use a 5 minute alcohol soak to get the juice out at the end of the day. You will be able to see the juice leeching out of the atomizer when you pick it up and drain it. Allow the alcohol to run out through the battery end about five times... shake the excess off the atomizer, and set it aside near some airflow. In the morning I drop one drop of juice on the atty, and throw on a cartridge with fluval foam for a wick. Let sit 3 minutes... and vape.

The process is the same for the cartridge.

People have other methods and this is an art rather than a precise science. However, I haven't lost an atty over 30 days of hard use. And from my perspective, the reason is that they are cleaned every night. This also allows no flavor cross over from day to day if I change things out. There's nothing like your favorite juice with a hint of menthol- when it's not supposed to be there. YUK.

I'm going to do a video on this subject tonight and put it up on youtube- strange you would ask the question.

Would someone please explain this dry burn method? Or possibly link to an explanation, if there is one? Its the one thing about my new PV that i dont yet understand... and I would HATE to kill an atty experimenting.

Also, how often should the dry burn be done for an atty that's in everyday use?

Here's a link to Highping's method that I use. Most times I forgo the washing part. Looks intimidating but you only need to do your first one to see how easy it is. You can see the coils turning red, just keep it dull by pulsing. Here's link

IMO, only on an as need basis. I use it if I notice my draw getting harder, diminished vapor production, and sometimes when I'm removing strong flavors from the atty. I agree w/ Hills that people put too much emphasis on cleaning their attys...if your atty is working good, why do you need to clean it?

I have both manual and auto...flooding with both. Have you posted the video yet? When you do can you please post a link:laugh: I have now named this forum you ask...and you shall recieve...lots of answers...fast!! Thanks so much

I also tend to overfill carts, so when atty is flooded I just hold my 510 vertically (cart side down) and vape. If not in use I keep them vertically anyway. Three wheeks of vaping and didn't clean an atty yet.
you should boil your atts at least weekly! do not let 'PERMANENT ....' clog your att, you will risk using an acidic product to cleanse your atty, which can 'uncoat' your attomizer, ruining your lifespan!

follow all necessary precautions!
e-cigs are more than just a china cabinet, they need maintence

I remember one time when my sewer line...it was leaking all over....
