Why is a Provari P3 even a viable choice.

As I float off on my old skool iceberg, I tip my cap to you. I really do believe (really do) that most of us picked up a vape as an alternative to smoking cigarettes, not because we were in need of a new skateboard.

If and when you tire of your new hobby, your advanced, extreme hobby, we'll still be here doing what we do, in order not to smoke. Forgive me, but I thought that's what vaping was all about.

Perhaps there is a place in this forum for the extreme "sport" of vaping?

I am constantly suggesting the itaste v3 for new vapers. Good design, easy to use and figure out, reliable. And plenty of power when using stock coils. I was happy with 11 watts back then... Usually vaped around 8.5-9 watts.

That all changed when I started building my own coils for my kanger tanks and a whole new world of flavor opened up to me.

Why should we be an exclusive community? What we need to be is inclusive. Why people vape shouldn't matter imo. Not everyone started smoking for the same reasons. Who really cares if someone was a smoker prior to vaping? Perhaps vaping will keep them from ever starting. If they wish to cloud chase....more power to them, I say

There is a new area so as not to confuse the poor new vapers with non-quitting vape styles and tech....the more vapers we have the bigger the resistance against the sordid anti-vape crew.

I don't see why you get worked up about how someone else feels about their vape choices anyway really...it would be like me getting upset at vegetarians for not eating meat. We both eat. We are both excited and happy about what we eat. Why should I criticize them or the vegetables?

This all got started by a post with zero sum mentality...I personally am all for the win-win...

For me the "X" Killer posts are grating...so I don't read them.

As an addendum, I would have bought a VW tube mod, but every one I looked at felt flimsy in my hand. Build quality IS important to me, I stripped down my Hana clone before buying it to make sure it wasn't one of the crappy clones all gunked up with glue etc.. I like the heft of the provari and it's overall design (except for the tapered top cap, but I believe the p3 has a flat cap?)

The difference being the Kia doesn't vastly over power the jaguar for less money.....

I'm surprised at your lack of memory for some things, yet you remember my build pics.....selective? My box mod is a Hana clone (one of the better clones but still a clone). I've discussed this with you before. That though my finances are extremely limited, I would scrimp and save for a provari IF it met my power needs. I won't do that for a Hana, it meets my power needs, but isn't my ideal mod otherwise. That being said, it fit my budget at the time, build quality is good (aircraft grade aluminum, clean wiring), has worked flawlessly.......but it's still a box that doesn't fit in my handy homemade vape case with my mechs.

I remember your builds because the concept was new to me and you posted them on VV3 thread. I may have a lack of memory, but I had no clue you owned a Hana or Hana clone. I haven't changed from 9.5 watts so I'm very satisfied with what I have now. I smoked for 45 years and have been smoke free for 15 months now so I'm not spending $270.00 a month on cigarettes, which makes the Provari seem very affordable for me. We should all be happy that we're not smoking.

Ah, you don't do any of that stuff I mentioned. I wasn't trying to imply that you or most ProVari owners do. I myself happen to be a satisfied ProVari owner. ProVari owners and fans are mostly just fine, but there is a minority subset of those fans that are just obnoxious. The ones who attack anyone who says anything the least bit critical of a ProVari and turn all these threads ugly. They remind me of some of the toxic Harley Davidson fans I know. If you felt it was directed at you it wasn't, but I apologize if it .

Well said.:toast:

I wasn't saying you are but I'm sure lots of others are. I have seen them in the shops.

We've all seen the idiocy.....it comes with any activity or hobby. A girl working at my local smoke shop (no vape shops in the closest town to me) mentioned she was doing builds for people. In sitting and chatting with her I learned that she knew nothing about ohms law and amp drain! From someone selling coil builds! I had to teach her, that shop could have easily faced a law suit if one of her builds blew up in someone's face.....then where would I go for my juice if they shut down?

FTR...just pulled the trigger on a DNA40 mod from Protovapor and I am still going to buy a P3 as well as a 2.5 for my ex-hub who has been told to vape by his doc...because I like mods, good ones....and because I work my tail off to afford them....

YAY!!!!!

Looking good. What color and trim did you order?

For my tanks 40 would probably be over kill, except for the fact that between 25-30 watts I wouldn't be pushing the chip to its max. But I bet my dripper would be great on one :p

I am all starry-eyed over the temp control regulation and recently picked up a couple of Orchid clones and Foggers. I want to build some very low dual coils and see how that flies....

The great thing about vaping is that there are so many choices!!! The bad thing about vaping is that there are so many choices!!! LOL

I started out going lower ohms, then on my last build I decided to go opposite since I've got the 30 watt, I decided to go higher. I built my last head at 1.8 ohm dual coil. It's producing better vapor then my .7 ohm dual coil build did....probably due to more surface area of coil. Something I could never do on my mechs

I used to smoke cigarettes as well. But I don't think vaping should be looked at as something people do as a compromise because they love smoking and are addicted to a drug and don't have much will-power.

It is NOT a compromise for me. I love the flavor and I love the vapor. My vaping doesn't resemble cigarette smoking. I don't vape tobacco flavored liquids and my devices don't resemble cigarettes. But it feels great and it tastes great and it drives me to keep pursuing more, keep trying different coil builds, keep testing new liquids. It is not something that I think, "well... since I can't have the real thing, i will settle for this instead." I am not simulating smoking a cigarette, I am vaping. And I am driven to pursue the vapor, pursue the flavor. The Provari restricts my pursuit. It is only a "compromise" device. And thats why I avoid it.

And I'm sure for as many people who vape, there are an equal number of points of view in terms of their fondness or repulsion towards smoking, their possible addiction to nicotine, and their own sense of will or want power. Yours is definitely a popular one, shared in part by many of us.

I can also understand your desire to use devices that allow you to achieve your goals (pursuit of vapor and flavor), just as I can understand people who achieve theirs by the use of a mod such as the Provi. I know a cigalike would just not cut it for me, but I know others who would not vape anything else.

So, I'll meet you "halfway" on this (actually more than halfway). :) That's compromise. ;)

I still use my VV3 since I have only 1 Provari, but will be buying the second possibly tomorrow. The VV3 is a great mod to start with, and a useful backup.

I think TODAY would be a great day for you to get a new Provi, Spingy!
