Why is a Provari P3 even a viable choice.

Nobody starts at this scale, though.

Let me paraphrase a post I read the other day: "I just made my first build today, at 0.2 ohm. I juiced it up and pressed the button, and it caught on fire. Why did it do that?"

Anyway. Anyone who is vaping at anything less than 4 kW {REMOVED LINK TO VIDEO}, is just a wannabe.

Well there is a point where extreme vaping is more for the thrill of the hobby than it is similar to cigarettes. I mean, people with large cigars don't blow clouds like this. They also don't take straight-to-lung hits. It is a different and unique experience. It may take the place of smoking cigarettes, but that is no longer the drive to continue, it is the excitement of the pursuit of the vape clouds.

Nobody starts at this scale, though. They start at more of an entry level, possibly with a cigalike like an e-go. And then they might make a small step up to something like a Provari. And some will just be forever contented at that point. But, for others, there is more.

Quality Vs Quantity comes to mind here.

See, this is where I get annoyed with the whole provari debate..... When the quality word starts getting thrown around, as if there are no other devices with quality out there. Or as if provari's never experience problems. Or when examples of a couple well known ......s are used to put in bad light others vaping practices as if all people who vape in said style are by association just as stupid. The same old arguments pulled out over and over ad naseum.
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

The fact that "quality" comes up a lot when describing Provari can also be taken as a tribute to how happy people are with the quality. The majority of people have purchased multiple devices looking for something that works and I'd say a large percentage have purchased crap Chinese duds so when they finally get something like a Provari, quality does come to mind as a word to use, especially after one gets burned a few times on some expensive crap. I don't think anyone will argue that there are other quality devices out there, unfortunately when it comes to quality devices with consistent performance, they are far a few between.

BTW, this message has thrown the word quality around 7 times (including your use of the word quality...oops make that 9 times!

Over the past 3 years, I've purchased 4 (yes FOUR) ProVari mods. Why? Because I could depend on them to do what I wanted. I like the attention to detail, the material, the esthetics, the colors, design, form and function. Could I buy a more expensive APV? Sure. Could I buy a "better" APV? Maybe..because "better" is subjective.

My DH drives a Cadillac CTSV...is it "better" than my car? To HIM it is...but, to me, it's too wide, too fast, drinks too much gas, and it's a stick shift. None of those things, to ME qualify it as "better"...it also has 90,000 miles, mine has 8,200...and mine cost $40,000 less. I drive to the grocery, doctor, and vet. I do not NEED a car that costs 90k to do those things...my DH drives from Tallahassee to Miami...the luxury his car offers him works "better" for HIM..I don't need, nor would I appreciate those fancy custom leather seats he has in the CTSV...I barely warm up the drivers seat during the 2.5 mile drive to Walgreens!

Much like my car...my APV is well built, is at a price point I can afford, it has a reputation of having superior build quality, it's dependable...but, most importantly...it keeps me from driving to the stop n Rob to buy a pack of stinkies. PLUS...I LIKE IT!!

(There...and I didn't say the "Q word" ONCE!)

Wasn't referring to your post DP.....
And it isn't calling provari a quality device that annoys me. It's the attitude that gets thrown around that comes off like it's the only quality device, that only people who buy provari know what quality is.
Then there is the whole aspersion against cloud chasers (of which I am not). Apparently that's the ONLY reason someone would want more power (never mind the fact that I get amazing flavor at 26 watts out of my aerotank on my build). People who want 30 or more watts MUST be chasing clouds, or not know how to vape right, cause look how much I love my provari and it only does 15 watts. Readers digest versions of arguments over heard over and over again....

I guess what I meant is that although Provari is a quality device that works great for what it does and will last a long time, it is for people who want an alternative to smoking cigarettes. And it is a high-end alternative.

But, for people who are vaping because they love vaping and strive to push to the extremes while enjoying a much more advanced hobby, the Provari doesn't work.

One comes to a point in life, that one realizes a few "truths"...unlike Shawn White, my .... should NEVER, EVER be higher than my head. Truth 2, I'm old enough to have had a surgery, surgery hurts...and while I'm no longer the "raving beauty" I once believed I was, I've become accustomed to looking in the mirror and seeing two (myopic) eyes, two hard of hearing ears, one very Swedish nose, and two lips. I'm over 60 now...and I'm settled in my ways...i LIKE "moderation"...I've learned that ANYTHING defined by the word "extreme" also includes the understanding of "RISK"...so, to ME, NO VAPE is worth the SMALLEST possibility of having to search the bathroom for my lips and nose...and hoping That I find them before the dog does!! This is just a personal choice...Shawn White manages to go upside down all the time on hard snow and ice...and never gets hurt...but that's Shawn White, not Gramma Via!

So, while I appreciate your advocacy of "extreme vaping" and even your right to express your opinion...please also understand that some of us are just not the risk-taking types...and we are really very happy with our decision. I smoked from 1967 until January 2012...I did so using a ProVari, and I've been pleased with the performance and pleased with the results....pleased that after smoking for 40 odd years I am free of the stinkies....not the COPD, perhaps...but each day on THIS side of the dirt is worth a millennium on THAT side of the dirt!

I didn't take it at me, MC - I was just trying to lighten you up a little. It's not worth getting annoyed over, and why look if it bugs you? I wouldn't - I don't (look at the stuff that bugs me).

Too short, life.

Let's call it morbid curiosity. I know where these threads are going....they always go there. Or perhaps I'm just hoping that someday I'll run across someone who actually shares my opinion (not a fan boy, not a hater, just waiting for provape to make a device that suits my vape needs) and I'll make a friend for life.
What I get instead, when I dare to put forth my opinion that the P3 would have been better as a 30 watt mod, is veiled (sometimes poorly) comments against my intelligence. Provape are gods, if they made it 20 watts, well then that's all we need. They must have good reasons for doing it this way.....
Kind of like the new iPhone..... We've heard for years horse great they are. We don't need a bigger screen, this is perfect for us. Now they have released bigger screens and it's all look how great this is.....never mind the fact that the screen has the Sam resolution and pixel density of my almost 2 year old phone, with worse light reactive (read antiglare) technology.

As I float off on my old skool iceberg, I tip my cap to you. I really do believe (really do) that most of us picked up a vape as an alternative to smoking cigarettes, not because we were in need of a new skateboard.

If and when you tire of your new hobby, your advanced, extreme hobby, we'll still be here doing what we do, in order not to smoke. Forgive me, but I thought that's what vaping was all about.

Perhaps there is a place in this forum for the extreme "sport" of vaping?

Why should we be an exclusive community? What we need to be is inclusive. Why people vape shouldn't matter imo. Not everyone started smoking for the same reasons. Who really cares if someone was a smoker prior to vaping? Perhaps vaping will keep them from ever starting. If they wish to cloud chase....more power to them, I say

Hear, hear! Maybe someday, when I grow up, I will be able to graduate to to competition level vaping. Clouds, deep lung hits, dirty dish rag in hand...

Gosh this is a funny thread. Why does this remind me of the posts of iSheep or other brand fanboys alike??

Let's be real. Provape makes great devices for a certain group of people for whom the device fits their needs. Until recently the provari was quite outdated but a steady performer.
And undoubtedly its not cheap but its also no Ferrari type of expense and well within reach of most people with some form of income.
Taking my wife out for a nice evening can set me back more easily lol.
Anyhow, OT: Its a viable choice for those it fits their needs and a welcome upgrade of the previous version for sure.

We need to stow the attitudes and condescension and ....-hurt feelings in here folks, it's getting a little warm.

A quick reminder of the rules seem to be needed:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-forum-rules/51178-forum-rules.html

8. Courtesy
a. Members must be polite at all times. When addressing another Forum user, you will be polite. Courteous discussion is welcome here but heated and abusive argument is not. If attacked you are not allowed to respond in kind. Instead use the Private Message system and try to resolve matters privately and amicably. If problems persist ask for the help of a Moderator.

9. Personal attacks
You can disagree with the subject matter of a post, but never personally attack the poster - “Attack the post, not the poster”. Treat people as you would like to be treated yourself: with courtesy.

10. Misconduct
a. These are not permitted -
  • Flaming (insults).
  • Criticising or complaining about a Moderator, or how the site is run, except via PM (private message).
  • Discussion or mention of illegal/illicit drugs or sexual content.
  • Posting of vulgar videos.
  • Obscene or vulgar language.
  • Trying to place offensive text in a post by evading the forum's built-in word censor, using symbols or alternative letters for example.
  • Multiple identities/accounts: each member is allowed only one account on the ECF Forums. This also applies to Facebookers (one account only on ECF).
  • Spamming for post count (placing meaningless posts) is against the rules.

I get a bit tired of being called some sort of snob just because I happen to own (and like) a Provari. It's a nice PV, and needs no other justification. I also have other PVs that I like ......... so what!!!

It really doesn't matter all that much what I, or someone else thinks is "best". There will always be someone that thinks something else is best.

I smoked Camels, and think Marlboros came out of the back end of a donkey.
Do you suppose someone might disagree???

The Lamborghini Diablo is such an outdated car. A car for noobs. Why, it can't even do wheelies or stoppies.

This is about as pertinent as most of the Provari criticism that I see here. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against constructive, intelligent criticism.

But when you go on and on about a spoon being lacking because it is not a fork, at some point, the people who are eating soup will become annoyed by your insistence to show off your inability to differentiate cutlery.
