Why is a Reo less hassle?

Huh...so I am under the impression the magnets are repelling each other. Am I correct?

I think they are attracting. If I hold the door slightly ajar they will pull it back closed again. My guess is I'll just have to get used to keeping my fingers off the door. But I will also look into the other folks suggestions on tightening up the door. I already tried a bit of packing tape along the bottom edge and that helped some with the door "clicking" when I picked it up. I may try a strip down the long edge over the battery to see if that helps too.

To help w/ the clicking door you can try wrapping electrical tape around your battery and leaving a little "flag". This flag is also handy for removing batteries. I also put the purchase date of a battery on it w/ either a marker or a label from a label maker.

Not a battery, but you get the idea:

The nerak way of holding the Reo works great and I the door didn't bother me yesterday at all.

I do want to try the ribbon around the battery. Something that helps with battery removal and can stiffen the door motion sounds great.

The little carto works OK but I'm not so keen on the way it vapes or the flavor.

I tried the new Ikenvapes 1.5 Ohm and it works OK but doesn't taste that great. Tried it for an hour or so. Maybe it needs break-in? I don't remember my Joye atty needing break-in but that was a while ago so I might have forgotten.

Currently running my Joye LR atty that I've had for awhile and it is working well. I like it the best of the three so far.

Still on the first battery so it lasted all day yesterday but I brought spares today since I'm guessing it will run out sometime today. Is the vape just going to start to get weak? Obviously there is no LED to blink like on my Twist. Again this is my mechanical so I have no idea. Grin.

Glad that method of holding it works well for you!

You will notice a drop in vapor when the battery voltage drops. If you find yourself getting barely warm hits and feel like you are drawing more and getting less change your battery.

With the AW IMR you do not want to get them down below 3.2v. I would pop mine out and check them at first till I learned to tell when they are getting too low. They don't have a memory, they work better, and last better if you charge them more. I will pull mine at about 3.6v and change.

New AW IMR will need to go through a few cycles to obtain maximum output.

Since this is still new to you, you may not notice the voltage drop off the first couple of times. If you have spares with you, it might be a good idea to swap batteries after you've vaped about 3mls of juice. Metering your batteries as you take them out of your mod will help you sense the voltage drop and eventually you will just "know" when it's time to replace your battery without needing to meter them at all. I hardly meter mine at all anymore unless I feel like I'm going through batteries too quickly.

Some atomizers need a break in period. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to know in advance if that is going to be the case.

Changing out the batteries "early" is better for them than waiting until they're depleted. I've gotten into the habit of changing mine out quite a bit. For instance, even if you know a battery will last you all day and then some, you could just get into the habit of changing it every morning before you go to work....or every night when you go to bed to get it ready for morning. In my case, I certainly go through more than one set of batteries a day (I'm using my VV Grand with 700 mAh batteries,) and I change them every morning before work (whether I "need" to or not) then I change them in the afternoon before I do my 45 minute drive home from work.

It's not for everyone, but I've found that for me that kind of routine works. On weekends, I don't think that much about it....but if I get in the car to go somewhere, I always just change to new batteries and top off my juice bottle. That way I know for sure I'm covered and I won't have to try to remember when I last changed them.

It seems like I ALWAYS have a pair of batteries on the charger.....

A couple "definites" for why you would choose a bottom feeder over another mod:

1) You vape high VG or 100% VG. In this case you want to vape directly off an atty, and not everybody can sit around manually dripping.

High VG and 100% VG will ultimately clog cartos and/or clearos faster than if you were using more viscous eliquids. That is just a given.

2) You are spoiled from the flavorful vape that comes with vaping directly off an atty....homemade coils or otherwise.
I started out as a dripper, so I've never been able to use another device. A bottom feeder just allows you to drip without having to actually sit there and drip into the top of a coil/atty.

3) putting juice into a bottle, and squeezing it, is way easier for me than priming a carto, trying to shove a carto into a carto tank and then filling the tank, and dealing with replacing coils and such inside a clearo or wicked tank like vivi nova, etc. With a bottom feeder, you buy a good atty, it will last months and months, or a rebuildable and always have a nice clean fresh vape. Your juice is onboard in the bottle.........easy peasy.

I have always just used a piece of black electrical tape. Wrap once around the battery, "seam" it where the two ends come together, leave a tiny tiny bit of extra there to pull on.

But I think I will use the ribbon, as has been pointed out about it gunking up the battery!

But I will also look into the other folks suggestions on tightening up the door.

I took a neoprene coozie and cut and sewed it and made a nice little case for mine. Door problem solved, it stays in there nicely under the case.

I guess I could eventually break down and buy a nice leather case from Serenity Gear but i showed the mod to my cobbler...he took me to back room where, gah! He had over 300 pieces of leather, every shape, size, color, and thickness and even a 'fake' ostritch embossed leather in lime green with the little nubs on it. (and the same one in.......gah! Pink!). So cowgirl.

Said he could sew me up one for $20. He even had soft deerskin.

I left without the case because after seeing all those choices, I simply couldn't decide on ONE.

I'll post if and when I get it. :)

For the very few Mini Woodvil owners..... the tape pushed out the door on a couple of Mini Woodvils so took tape off all 14500 AW IMRs and yes, sticky mess.

One week update:

After switching to the Joye LR atty I have not gone back to the shorty cartos. The taste on the atty is better than the carto. I'm learning to predict the atty and squonking before it gets dry.

Using nerak's grip I haven't had further issues with the door though I still want to try adding ribbon on the battery.

The 1600 mAh AW IMR batteries are lasting a full day so that is convenient. Per your suggestions I've been swapping every day rather than try to run them down. I rarely vape 3ml in a day but I've got that in my head as another battery swap point. My multimeter decided to die so I can measure until I replace it and this seems to be working so far. I wrote the purchase date on the batteries and numbered them so I can track them.

The voltage drop is manageable. The vape can be harsh right off the charger with some juices but calms down soon enough. With the LR atty which I think is about 1.7 Ohm the vape quality is good over the main range. Better than I expected. I can tell the difference versus regulated - but overall I'd say it's not enough to worry about.

Having the juice in the bottle versus a clearo really does make a difference you can taste. One of my go to juices is Boba's bounty and the juice is very dark at the end of a tank in my clearos, but it looks pristine in the bottle start to finish.

Juice flavor changes aren't any more work than changing in a clearo. No proble, at all.

All in all I am very pleased. I look forward to trying an RBA sometime soon.

Thanks so much for all the help. You created another Reo fan. Grin.

Glad to hear it's working for you. As good as it is, an RBA will give you an even better vape. In a week or so, Rob is supposed to have an affordable RBA on his site, so maybe keep your eyes peeled for that. Before RBAs, however, a LR atty on an REO was the best vape around.

It's nice to have a "fiddle-free" all day vaping machine in your hands, isn't it?

Will be trying 4 different new Attomizers since reading this thread and now waiting for the Reomizer.2.0 also...besides, forgot to add that delrin button cover. That button cover a hassle? I have stickum I thought put some up inside it maybe. Didn't enjoy the little button....then again is there a way to customize a button cover? That bottom is important! IMHO it's the one weak part of the Reo. I'm hoping my fingers work well with the placement of it compared to when I had the mini. I have a grand coming. I like the button placement of the VV but didn't want a VV. anyway. GREAT thread!
