I have used a lot of PV's and the REO is absolutely most convenient. Before I had the REO, I used the tube PV's with tanks and RBA's, and cartotanks out of the house. I have dropped my ProVari and the cartotank broke. I can't take the RBA's out conveniently because I prefer the fill hole screw out, and that means they do leak unless you maintain them upright. With the REO I put an RDA on it and RDA's don't leak. I do carry a battery box with an extra battery and a carto "just in case" my RDA or battery decide to get finicky. It hasn't happened, but I believe in backups. A battery box is small enough it isn't like having to carry a separate unit.

Because RDA's are bottom fed on the REO (and dripped otherwise) the juice is in the bottle not the tank like with the RBA's. And on the REO, the bottle is in the unit. Filling it is just as convenient as clearos, but without the leaking and muted flavors. The juice is always fresh and I can drip on the go with no hassle what-so-ever. RDA's are super easy to coil because there is no mesh to short on them, so that takes no time at all and one set up lasts a lot longer than a clearo will. Invest 5 minutes, it lasts as long as you squonk often enough to keep the wick from singing. I only recoil them when they gunk up because it is easier for me to recoil with a new wick than to rewick and burn an old coil. Other's might not agree with that, but I have 100 feet of kanthal and I can wrap a new coil in the same amount of time I can thread a new wick. Not so on my RBA's though, new coils are finicky on them.

So, fresh dripping, one packaged unit = ultra convenience and performance.

Do you have a thing....a thing of them?

Lo there do I see my father
Lo there do I see my mother, and my sisters, and my brothers
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the beginning
Lo they do call to me
They bid me take my place among them
In the halls of Valhalla
Where the brave
May Live
Forever

One of my favorite movies.

Sorry for the OT post.

Back to OT subject matter...

Speaking of Norse warriors is anyone watching the "Vikings" series on History? Great show. Full of Viking history...

I switched to a REO in 2011. Since then, I haven't felt the slightest urge to try to find "something better". Truthfully, I hardly even keep up with the latest and greatest trend in the vaping world. And it's because, put simply, I'm completely satisfied by my REOs.

RBA's seem to be the current newest innovation, and yes, I've tried them. They're fun to "fiddle" with, but if you want to vape without all the fiddling, you can't do better than a REO grand, flavorless ejuice, and a good quality LR atomizer/cartomizer.

Sitting at my desk, I have several spare attys handy, along with 4-6 6ml bottles already filled with juice, and 4 spare batteries. When I'm going out, I put my grand in my shirt pocket and walk out the door. Whether I'm going to be gone 15 minutes or 9 hours.

If the above is what you're looking for, the REO is it.

ETA: I do keep a spare battery and juice bottle and atty in one of these in my pocket, so I'm probably good for 16-20 hours away from home base if I need to be.

It sounds like in today's vaping space that it the strengths of the Reo Grand would be:

1) Durability, longevity, ease of regular maintenance, strong vendor support for repairs.

2) Keeping the stored juice away from the atomizer to protect flavor. This is important considering the large 6ml storage capacity.

3) Provides the flavor of dripping with less mess/hassle as compared to regular dripping (separate juice bottle, taking drip tip off every 5 puffs, etc.).

4) Box form factor reduces overall length which can be more convenient for some methods of carry/transport.

I found an noted the super shorty 1.7 Ohm cartos. Would the translucent walled ones be good for a new person to learn "squonking"?

On atomizers is there any consensus on Cisco Spec 306, hh.357, Vapage, etc. as best for the Reo? On a Reo Grand I would assume the 1.5 Ohm is the way to go, but is my assumption correct.

For future reference is there a particular RBA that is more new Reo and new RBA friendly than others? The RDA was mentioned for example. Is it new RBA user friendly?

Agree with all of the above.

Not really. I've heard the clear ones are more fragile. You wouldn't have much trouble learning squonking with the black/ss ones and I think they'd last longer.

Around this forum there's no consensus. Different folks like different things for different reasons. However, those mentioned are very popular. I loved the HH357 when I was using pre-made attys. Now I'm 100% rebuildable.

There's a sticky thread above that talks about all the RBAs that fit the different REOs. The Grand will take most, if not all, of them. The ERA, the Hornet, the Chalice, the A7.....all have their pros and cons and fans. Right now they're all a little hard to get except the A7.

Box form factor is also preferred by some to a shiny personal massager form factor :) After my wife called the Vamo "Steely Dan", I couldn't look at it the same any more.

As far as 1.7 translucent cartos, the plastic seems to detach itself from the connector very easily. If you want visual confirmation of your squanking efforts, try the steel ones. I got very proficient at pulling out the drip tip and taking a look inside. The filler needs to look like a slurpie or slushie -- that means it's about as full as it can be.

You won't regret the Grand at ALL. If you fall into the .00001% (estimated) of the vaping population that isn't happy with it, you can resell it in a day or so in the classies for about what you paid for it. We all know the initial investment is painful, but 2 years from now, you'll still be using that Grand (and probably have a few more for "backup").

Somehow, we all seem to forget how expensive cigarettes were (or are), but I can tell you that even with all the junk I went through before I got a REO, I've probably only spent pennies on the 10's of dollars compared to what I *used* to spend. And once the cost of the REO was returned by my savings, I probably don't spend $10 a MONTH to vape.

And welcome to REOville, glad to have you aboard! :)

P.S. If you've a mind to, don't forget to add yourself to the "REO roll call", and "The real US" threads, and, of course, pics when it arrives are nearly mandatory :)

I will submit that there are no cons to a chalice except availability and price.

I have one 1.7 Ohm Joyetech atomizer already and I ordered three of the 1.7 shorty cartos when I ordered the batteries and such from RTD Vapor (as you guys recommended). I think I'll try using these for a few weeks while I research RBA's for the Reo Grand a bit more. I've been reading about RBA's for awhile but most of what I've been following is for Genesis style not bottom-feeder dripping style. I also like reddit and I've seen some folks over there posting about RBA's on bottom-feeders too. So between here and there I should have plenty to keep me busy until one is actually available to buy. Though I don't think $150 chalice will be my first purchase - even if it is "con free". :)

super_X_drifter, I like how your signature says "haven't saved a dime". I haven't either - but I'm having fun with it and that is what counts!

I lived off supershort 1.7 cartos until I went to order a s h it load of them and they were out of stock. So I bought a hornet and never looked back. I did look at other rbas though. Doh.

Those 1.7 s are good. If they were in stock in the quantities I needed to satisfy my inner hoarder, i probably would never ventured into the RBA highway. But with a Ferrari like a REO, it's just itching to burn that highway up!

Damn glad for the detour, and for my timing because all you had to do was hit buy on the Indy vapors site for a hornet at the time.

How long do the 1.7 Ohm shorty cartos last? A week if I don't screw it up with my Reo newbie-ness?

I just ordered one each of the 1.5 and 1.8 Ohm Ikenvapes atomizers to try along with the Joyetech LR and SR attys I already have. I've had the Joyetech ones for a couple months and even though I only use them for tasting new juices I don't know how long they have left.

Now to find some articles and/or videos on learning how to squonk.

Very subjective question. Everyone has a different opinion on when a cartomizer needs to be replaced. At least 2 weeks in my opinion. If you don't run it dry. Some people feel it is not needed to prime them (drip into them initially to get the filling totally saturated) but I feel it is worth it. Nothing worse than the taste of a singed carto.

Did you get your Reo yet?
[Edit: Oops. Had to check and saw you only ordered yesterday. Thought it was earlier... Squonking is easy. You'll pick it right up].
