I dont think its that... The nemesis isnt shiney...its just.. stainless steel..simple.

Dont forget that the K100 is 25.5mm in width... too fat.. another reason why its lost popularity.

I think a big reason is the fact that it's chromed. Most of the new popular clones have straight brass, silver-plated, or copper contacts and SS, brass, or copper bodies. Surprisingly the K still hits hard, but most stay away from chromed parts in mechs with so many other options out there. I don't buy any new mechs now with chromed parts and contacts, though I would replace my K101 if something happened to it.

It hits hard because it's a good design. I don't have a clue why someone would avoid something that has been chromed. There are not very many better finishes for durability. As for conductivity, the copper layer does that very well.

Good design is important, the nice large flat oxidation resistant contact function very well with little resistance. It's able to increase the actual metal to metal contact.

Here's some basic information of how the contacts work...INTRODUCTION TO PHYSICS OF CONTACT RESISTANCE

I have a k100, and it doesn't perform nearly as well as my Magneto. It's a good product, but it isn't as good as others.

I still use the k100 over my nemesis or chi. It works great IMO.

The K100 was my introduction to mechanical mods and I now have a few high end mods (Hana Pack V3, Vanilla SS to name a couple) and still find myself using my K100 from time to time. Its just an excellent mod to carry around and not have to worry about beating it up since the thing is a tank and since it was so cheap, I'm not too worried about how it looks as long as it vapes!

My k100. I sanded everything going from 400, 800, 1000 (dry and wet), 2000 (dry and wet), 3000 (dry and wet). Looks very finished like it came from the factory that way. Sanded all contacts including the inside of 510 pin hole on the cap. Worked the spring so it has a very light throw ( I always use the safety between vapes anyhow). In the picture it looks like the carto cover is all scratched to hell, but it isn't. Must have a fingerprint on my phones camera. It hits super hard. I usually use it with an igo-w dual micro coil, and it chucks the vapor for sure. Its a workhorse!IMG_20140510_203310.jpg
